So, by your logic which you saying here over and over again, more ED elements and exotic glass elements lens has, than less 3D pop and more flat it is ... Nikkor Z 85mm f1.2 has only one ED element and you call it flat with no 3D pop, but this Sirui Aurora 85mm f1.4 has 2 ED elements and 3 high refractive elements and by your word it is 3D popping... I don't see any logic here by this example, in blaming ED glass in removing 3D pop😅
@cameraconspiracies Both Nikkor and Sirui have ED element second from the front, than Sirui has a second ED element right after it... Both have aspherics right on the back of the optical formula for coma correction... Technically both lenses are derived from classic Sonnar optical formula, so colled modified Sonnar with corrections... I suggest you to put this two lenses side by side on the same Z mount body and the same scene/background... And make a conclusions regarding rendering similarity and differences 😉👍🤔 And btw Zeiss Otus and Milvus lenses have elements marked, as special glass, which if you read on the official site - glass with anomalous partial dispersion which is technically ED glass, and they have up to 6 these ED elements, like Otus 55mm f1.4 or 85mm f1.4, which by logic of ED glass supposed to be even more flat rendering than Nikon with one ED, but is not...😉👍
@@antontaranenko8824 Nikon 85mm f1.2 is flat though. Maybe because no HRI elements. I don't know, I'm just bringing Dirty Photography Club's theory to measure 3D pop. It's a complicated theory. I'm much happier with the Sirui lens than I was the Nikkor.
I see the 3D pop! Wow 👌 your production value has escalated greatly. Picture quality, audio, and lighting are all beautiful. Love the music as always. Definitely my favorite youtuber of all time. 😊😊
Tired of pretending like I’m not bothered with UA-camrs speaking ill of onion rings. They are delicious. Give me onion rings and ice cold pop like a Sprite or something.
I'm surprised that wild salmon migrating in that river didn't attack or try to mate with you because the pants were 3d-popping like crazy for them and us as well.
I want a third-party RF mount 85mm prime with no higher Tonehs than 2.8. That's a nice-looking lens and the video it produced was really good. Good popping episode.
Dollar for dollar, this Sirui 85 1.4 is a great buy. I bought it for the Z mount for the ZF. The aperture ring doesn't feel quite as well as the aperture ring as Nikon's D lens lineup, it is acceptable and I can shoot fully manual with my Zf with this lens. I used it for pictures and it did a fantastic job overall in terms of images and autofocusing. There were a couple of times if did not autofocus fast enough, but I later learned I made mistakes with my configuration on my camera. For $499 USD until the end of December 2024, it overdelivers. It's great for portraits, I'm not sure about weddings.
I'm about to get another Canon 85L after not having one for 10 years. Switching to Gfx like a jabrone and it looks glorious on the shmedium format sensor. The 200L prime looks like magic on it too
@8:36 You were supposed to go down that slide with one leg on each side of that ridge in the middle wearing those pink pants. What were you thinking man? 😂
I had to struggle to see any pop at the playground. I don’t know if there needed to be a different angle shot to see depth, but it was not evident. On the rocks I saw it a little bit. However, the zeiss is always money. I have the 55 for my Sony A7s iii, from your reviews, and that thing NEVER disappoints me. Even the zeiss u used here it was immediately recognized. It’s a cheaper and very sharp lens, but I would not be moved to get it if pop was the deciding factor.
Did you mic the running water I hear at the end of your Video? How do you handle sound? Baked In or Post? I would say Yes to the 3D Pop with the Zeiss and Sirui Lenses. The Sirui has some very nice imagery, the Tonnea's and the Swirlies looked round and colorful. The Canon I think was a little better on that.
I think you could stop down to f11 and go shoot the sun coming through branches or architecture and get those stars you were looking for. Not sure stars show up wide open, as the iris would be round and have no angles.
Not bad, actually. I love my Sony 85 f/1.8. It's the best bang for buck "modern" AFing 85 I've tried. I went thru an 85 phase, from Canon FL 85 f/1.2 to the GM 85 f/1.4 (1st gen) to others. The 85 f/1.8 is the one I still own. Terrific combo of price, image quality/pop, size/weight and AF. I decent AFing 85 f/1.4 that's smallish and light while also inexpensive is pretty tempting, at least to try.
Did you ever test the old Sony 85/2.8 SAM? It's an A-mount lens, so you'll need an adapter of the LA-EAx kind but it will probably do video AF nicely. It was very cheap, the optics are 5 lens in 4 groups, so should be fun. Don't call us, we'll call you.
Man I ordered mine cause I needed or truly believed I needed an 85 mm. But my old 50 mm just produces a better image at f 1.8. Maybe mine is bad. It's less clear than my others for sure. even when put the f1. 8 or f 2. And rarely sharp. I will do more test.
Informative and funny video, as usual. Side note about Sirui pronunciation - try "Seer-ooo-eee" instead of "Seer-eee-ooo". The company that gives you a free lens to review might appreciate it if you could say their name correctly. And regarding the wearing of sweat pants in public (of any color), the implication is that you just rolled out of bed and went outside without washing yourself.
Buying the Canon r50 was a bad decision. There's 0 good AF lenses except for canon lenses and those are overpriced. Why were people recommending it sm ahhhh
Looks poppy, I doubt the Rokinon mark 2 will be poppy, the Rokinon/Samyang mark one was poppy, but had an extra element over the Sigma 85mm 1.4 which has more pop.
