Me! :)
Help me save lives
I'm not thankful for the way he keeps throwing those hands around, as if he's desperate, nor of that ascendant, "singing" tone he's using to speak. How unnerving is that?
This is such an underrated topic but sooo important! 🙌🏻
we need plan ahead , indeed an underrated topic !
Help meh save lives
Thanks so much for this video. Really appreciate this important content.
Very helpful video!
Thx for sharing this. When I was in legal publishing, IP almost got me interested in law school. Almost…🤔
i love the intro!
Hello we just want to say thank you for breaking this down for us we have learned a lot . We hope you have a great day Love and Light Sarah and Glenn
This is helpful to learn about while this topic is important to think about how to protect your content.
💎 Thank you such a relevant topic. So important nowadays because most people are creating content. That’s why I teach extensively on my UA-cam channel. ❤️
So now that we know that graphic designers are likely in need of trademarks for their work, what is the next step that a graphic designer needs to do to avoid infringing on existing trademarks?
Thank you Joey for these great insights for designer bunnies! I have a question to climb out the hole..how do you protect your designs on international level?
This is such a nice Thumbnail! I'm going ti be stepping my channel art and thumbnails, I've my channel has grown a lot thanks to some if your content here. Really appreciate what you guys do!!!!
Niceeee
This was very useful! Still waiting for a video on CONTRACTS with clients. :)
we have a whole kit with legal forms.
Thanks A lot
You are most welcome
Vital! We underestimate the importance of intellectual property SO much!!
Whoa
Citing what Cristina Santamarina wrote, we should NOT “underestimate the importance of intellectual property”!
The *MOST* valuable business asset freelancers own are NOT their equipment, cameras, computers, painting supplies, licensed software programs, but rather their copyrights (and trademarks)!
Without those legal protections, everyone, including corporations, publishers, Hollywood, and other entities, could legally exploit our creative works without permission and payment.
A lot of webdesign personal project concepts on behance use video/materials for showcasing taken from for example official website.
For example redesign of website concept for lets say ps5 (and they use videos from official site/$fonts) and at the end of behance case says like all materials vere used for non commercial propercies.
I like this idea. Imo not the best idea always to use stock stuff in personal projects. So a question: if I want to do a redesigns of some businesses non commercial/just for showcasing I am pretty sure can I use videos/materials/images from a webstite/from random youtube official video /... (just like a small part of behance redesign concept webdesign presentation) and fells free? A lot of people on behance are doing this and thats adding a flow and a behance case looks better
I came up with a saying for print on demand for say, t-shirts! I want to protect my text as it's very special and one of a kind! Everyone will copy me if I just put my t-shirt out there!! Can you tell me where to go? I"m a commercial artist but in this instance it's the saying that will go on t-shirts etc. Thanks
thanks
Awesomeness. Is there a definite correct and safe way on credit attribution when reposting content?
I'm not sure what "correct" might be. has a lot to dow with your intentions Lenny.
Wasn't there a whole Futur course for trademark guidance? I swear there was and I was very interested in it! The Set Up kit only seems to cover LLC.
not on trademarks. we've had 3 episodes w/ attorneys on trademark and intellectual property
@@thefutur Ok thanks, maybe I mistook it for the LLC course. Keep up the great work!
Im a designer from Malaysia and how important is this in Malaysia? Please advise
So how do I trade mark my business name
Can someone please tell me the font they used on the thumbnail?
Champion Gothic.
The title is protect your work but he focused on telling the difference!
🤗
Anyways video is very informative 💯
but I will recommend you to make an other video about it 😊
There's a misspelled word at the end of the first paragraph in bio! (staling instead of stealing) Love the content!!!

"I like to call it that...cos that's what it's called". Made me laugh.
Wisdom shall keep you. Hitting is foolish
but if i take the idea from a ig post like "how to overcome anxiety quick" but u present a different method is ok?
also ab image copyright if a piece of art is used on multiple big stores can i use it as well on my own POD edit?
If u take an idea from an ig post it's called inspiration and it's okay to use that the law in the creative business is really open to things like that and it's really hard to sue someone for inspiration
Hi everyone I'm Photoshop artist and I have good amount of knowledge about it but I don't know how to earn with it please recommend some blogs or something that helps me thank you
FIRST 🙌
What do you say when a client says “Can I have the RAW footage?”
Our contact states we own the footage. We can give it to them for a fee though.
@@thefutur thank you for your response. Once they pay for it, can they use it for anything? What's the price range for raw footage? We're having a hard time with this concept of giving raw footage to clients.
Trademarks copyrights patents
I wouldn't have any idea where to find an attorney to explain me how to protect my art...
Like where do you search...google? Among all the false annoucement and scams.
Not to mention, most of us cannot afford the insane fees.
Nice
Good luck

You can understand copyright basics without an attorney.
In the US and most all countries, you receive an *immediate & automatic copyright* simply by creating art that’s original to you (meaning you didn’t steal from another artist) and you add a sufficient amount of creativity to the art.
In the US, you’re going to *TIMELY* “register” your automatic copyright with the US Copyright Office to “enforce” your copyrights against infringers who exploit your art without your permission (aka, a license).
“Timely” means to register your art either as unpublished or within three-months of first-publication to be fully protected against copyright infringers.
Ultimately, your timely registered art provides your copyright attorney with leverage to push the (non-Fair Use) infringer to settle out of court. If the infringer chooses not to settle and you prevail during trial, the infringer is now liable to pay you statutory (enhanced) damages (from $750 to $150,000) and possibly your attorney fees. Most infringers will want to limit their copyright infringement exposure and money damages and will often look to settle amicably out of court.
It can be very difficult to purse money damages against infringers when you don’t timely register your copyrights! Watch just the first 20-seconds of Joshua Kaufman (Washington, DC copyright attorney litigator) video to understand why creatives really, really need to timely register their copyrights: ua-cam.com/video/cBOKkrleY3Y/v-deo.html
If you choose not to timely register your artwork copyrights, you should, at the very least, affix a watermark (logo) that includes your name, a small copyright logo (©), your website’s URL, and/or social media handle to preserve some of the legal options. You watermark logo can be small and transparent; it just needs to be readable. This link explains why posted artworks, photos, videos, and other creative works should include a watermark (logo): www.photoattorney.com/?s=watermarks
Do NOT trust social media and non-copyright attorneys for correct copyright information: Most of it’s wrong! Two of the best sources to get copyright information is the *US Copyright Office* (www.copyright.gov) AND the non-profit *Copyright Alliance* (www.copyrightalliance.org)

www.copyright.gov/circs/circ01.pdf
jippalippa wrote, “…most of us cannot afford the insane fees.”
There are copyright attorneys who will take infringement cases on contingency (no fees) *IF(!)* you have timely registered your copyrights. In addition, creatives who have limited funds, can contact their city/state *Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts* group for pro bono (free) or reduced fee legal assistance: vlaa.org/get-help/other-vlas/
You can also contact the Copyright Alliance for help: copyrightalliance.org/resources/find-a-copyright-attorney/
"Trademark is for brand. Copyright is for content." Then continues to say logo and packaging is your brand. But Chris and Blair taught us that a logo is not your brand.
There's not standard. Every country has its hyper-complicated rules.

So you guys are becoming content curators instead of content makers? 🤔 Interesting.
Based on one video?
@@thefutur no. I am sensing a trend on all your channels. I don't think it's wrong. In fact if I put my business hat on, I think it's probably the smart thing to do. I am curious about how it plays out.
