Lyrics:
Gimme some rope, I'm comin' loose
I'm hangin' on you
Gimme some rope, I'm comin' loose
I'm pullin' for you now
Give me some rope, I'm comin'
Outta my head, into the clear
When you go, I come loose

This is the most "Foo Fighters Song" of Foo Fighters.
totally agree
This is the most "Foo Fighters album" of Foo Fighters
Yes it is very foo fightery
Very true
Agree, this is the most groovy song in this album..
One of the best rock drum groove, RIP Taylor! 😭
Fuck yeah ! Dude
If Dave picks a drummer for his band, you know they are good. That’s why he brought Taylor on board ❤️🙏👍😈
Seriously the best drum performance on a record in the 21st century. This whole song is so memorable and just a masterpiece. The rhythm section is on another level.
Taylor sucks ... I'm better than him
Fun fact: this song whas a tribute to neil peart! Nail played this groove on a rush song
I like how the Foo Fighters build up musical tension and then release it. It is so damn satisfying to listen to. With many of their songs I feel like I am taking my last breath, and then BOOM! I can fill my lungs again (musically speaking). Do I make sense or am I nuts?
I love all their songs and I’m trying to figure out exactly why. I think I might be a bit bipolar and that’s why I like that build up and release! 😆
No they did that on
Everlong as well.
Nah you make perfect sense!
Spot on. It's a songwriting 'trick' to suspend the 1 beat and come in on the 2. Our brains love it because like humour, it creates and expectation that's 'unexpectedly' resolved. All by design and non the worse for it; best of all it's used just enough and not too much. Like you, I absolutely love it.
A crescendo
Everything just flows so naturally with the Foo Fighters. Especially in this song. Taylor and Dave are totally locked in. Nate, Chris and Pat provide the low end and it's fucking magic
Choke on a KISS! Baby!
The wasted light album is probably one of the best Foo fighter albums they ever put out. Simply because Dave decided to take him and all the boys back to the garage and recorded inside his garage. On an analog tape......
One of the best? It's their best by far. ITs okay to say it aloud. Many other great albums but Wasting Light is by far the best.
Absolutely
I agree heavily dude...
That's dope
Garage is irrelevant
Tailor Hawkins is so skilled, doing drum beats and off beat fills along with harmony's... just wow
*cough cough TAYLOR *cough cough
listen to more music
You do know that's easy, right?
@@Iweighmorewithoutclothes-wz1ph absolutely true
The opposite of Dave
The Foo Fighters rabbit hole has commenced.
again and again and again
end over end end over end end over end I'm circling
My daughter who has Autism loves this song especially the drums. So sad to hear Taylor passed away so young. R.I.P.
Aw, that's so awesome! 💜 Taylor's death is tragic. :(
That's because she can hear things in the drum line and the music that most people can't.... I played rock guitar for a gal with autism.... And she rocked out as if I was playing in a ten piece band
I am 52 years old also autistic and love this song .
One of the Foo's best songs, and the drum performance is what makes it. Taylor laid it down so many times in the studio, but this might be his crowning moment. What a loss. R.I.P. Taylor.
this is the first song that comes up on my playlist.. youtube knows what i like lol. Fucking amazing work here. Taylor hawkins will be missed for a long time.
I only heard this on the radio when it came out long ago. It shreds all their Hits like
Monkey Wrench.... Ugh that song sucks.
I've never felt as old as I did when I saw '8 years ago' under the title of the video. It still feels like the album is new!
Had the same thought! haha I remember when stations were like "here's a new foo fighters song called rope"
same for the Pretender video
I probably ain't helping in making you guys feel young, but I wanna say I was 11 when this record first came out, 19 now and I still think it is the best fuckin FF album ever. As well as a childhood classic for me!
@@iwillnevergetone5 Right!?
@@PsychoMetalKid thumbs up I agree, but one of their first singles still stands the test of time, I Stick Around.
Same here
Love the Neil Peart signature ride pattern being used 👌👌
Found my fellow Rush fan.
Undoubtedly a huge influence for the Foo Fighters.
RIP Neil Peart.
@@byrondouglasdean RIP indeed Neil Peart! :'-(
jacob romero nice catch! RIP Neil :’(
It’s my favorite part. It’s hard for me to copy the pattern.
Lil CookieBoi the bass and the hand hitting the ride are doing a lot tbh it’s not easy at all, Neil Peart videos are the way to go to learn it for sures!
Taylor said during interviews that this was his favorite song to play. Can't disagree with him. Both catchy to drummers and non-drummers, fun and technical at the same time, challenging but can still be played casually.
Best Foo Fighters drumming in my opinion, and Hawkins agreed.
I heard that too! I've always loved this song but it's extra special to listen to and think of Taylor now that he's gone
According to Taylor Hawkins himself, the drum solo is a Rip Off of Queen' s keep yourself alive (from the live killers album he used to listen when he was a kid)
yeah this has him and Dave's love of rush in it as he asked Taylor to play the Neil Peart ride pattern in the Chorus. Also the song is basically a duet between Dave and Taylor in the vocals.
This Foo Fighters song is incredibly underrated! That solo is INSANEEEE
It's no TY BD or Pound Town but it's good in it's own way.
One of the best Foo Fighters songs.
VERY TRUE🔥🔥🔥🔥🇰🇪😎
Their best song i think.
Me too!
So fucking good ♥️
Wouldn't go that far but its a brilliant song, love taylors drum part!
and also best video
Yep, I agree
One of the best Foo Fighters song. It sounds like they made this song in their first album. The music of the Foo Fighters never change at all. They are still one of the best rock band in history.
Rest In Paradise, Taylor 💚
I swear I get chills every time I hear that solo
+Rare Kmaster This one? 3:07
Yeah
Rare Kmaster i know right? it's awesome
+Kmaster ZaP The Drum solo or Guitar :)
+B7 Kmaster Almost as good as the Something from nothing solo???
I'm shocked about Taylor's passing. The Foos are one of my favorite bands, and I don't have words to describe how I feel right now. Anyway, let's save the good moments, and remember why Taylor was and still is a huge inspiration for everyone. Rest in peace Taylor, you'll be forever missed 💔🙏🏼
We are all devastated 😢
Im shocked cause of the bad taste that last movie left
The dichotomy of Dave and Taylor was really something to behold. I love them both. Rip, Tay
Drummers that can play and sing at the same time are the most talented people in the world, imo. Dave and Taylor's harmony in this song is beautiful. RIP Taylor ❤
I feel ya on that. Slasher G used to do that.
Removing hat.😊
The fact that Dave found Hawkins to replace him on drums proves it that this band was meant to be. There can't be any other person who could've fit in so perfectly.
Hail Foo Fighters \m/
they are like brothers
RIGHT!? + taylor has an amazing voice and his rhythm is off the charts. taylor hawkins and the coat tail riders, just sayin.
@@tikkivolta2854 Always hate it whenever people make claims like this. Music is a collaborative effort. No single person can carry a band. All of them are great musicians, and their combination is what gives us Foo Fighters. Not just Taylor Hawkins.
@@meeshermans297 i didn't say that. neither did deepak. and you might not believe it but i really don't care what you hate or don't. maybe hate a little less.
@@tikkivolta2854 ...Yes you did. You know what riding someone's coat tails means, right?
The best thing about this song, is the way the OFF beat, becomes the MAIN beat, & comes in early, FANTASTIC.
Just like “all my life” does. Along with Rope, their two best songs
I think it’s just syncopation, not off beat
best of you@@CJski Yes, you might be right, i really dont know enough about music to say, but either way its brilliant their 2nd best track, but "best of you" is crazy amazing, incredible.
That solo by Chris is amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeahhhh
Sorry to say this. Chris was only playing the 2nd half.
It Flew over all your heads.
Who owns the Finger played the 1st half of the solo.
I swear if Kurt were alive today He'd laugh in pure anger how we can't catch criptic truth's like we did 20 years ago.
Know his name cos I sure don't.
and Its an answer that can not be found online. Not even in the songs credits.
ngl, I do often wonder whoam it is,
@@Matthew-Drums "Chris Shiflett was overplaying in the second section of his solo in Rope. what a pointless thing to say"
pretty pointless thing to say when thats not what I was saying at all man.
By far my favorite Foo Fighters song
I learned to play it on drums:)
Man this is my favorite song in the universe of call a duty
Same
RIP Taylor. Cant quite believe it. Thanks for being part of the soundtrack to my live.
RIP Taylor Hawkins, you legend. Crushing, devastating news. There will be no one like you. Terrible loss for Foo Fighters, Rock n Roll, all the fans and above all his family. Thank you for all these incredible drum fills, rhythm and energy you gave us over the years.
I'm still in shock that he's dead
10000 % agree.
One of the things that I love the most about this, is the fact that those 3 guitars there are doing their parts in perfect harmony with each other and you can hear them all in the mix, the perfect foo fighters song!
Mad respect for using the 'Neil Peart ride cymbal pattern' in the chorus. Just goes to show how much reverence they have for one of the all-time greats. RIP, Mr. Hawkins
this song hits different with headphones
you can hear the harmonies so well, sounds like heaven
Damn.... you're right.... it IS different with headphones!
The panning and the way the guitars hit it's just so awesome.
I'd prefer a stereo setup to headphones thought. sounds alot better
yea its better with them
From Japan. I am a big fan of foo fighters and I love Taylor’s play. I miss you, Taylor.
R.I.P.
This is one of my favorite Foo Fighters songs. The quick guitar + drum harmony on the bridge just brings joy to my soul 🥰
Congratulations! You are listening another masterpiece of the FooFighters
At 3:33 the lead singer hits the cameraman with his guitar. I remember my brother pointing this out and I've never forgotten about it.
"the lead singer"
lmao you mean dave grohl?
@@sam6210a Oh, you mean that drummer from Nirvana who sings and plays the guitar?
I know what you mean, however the people in the comments dont know and havnt a clue.
DAve pointing his Flying V up to the heavens and Pat Smear shiting a brick.
It's alleged an individual has learn't how to communicate with UAP's
It's also alleged this individual is a musician.
The person with the finger on the amp is alleged to be related to that person and is also a musician.
Simply by using his mind by thinking of a song he changed the world.
He wrote a song in his imagination and the technology of the UAP's picked it up then became a real thing.
The guy is said to be a stargazing hero with many accomplishments.
Unfortunately, Overachieving like he did, put a target on his head.
Just look at the very people you want conformation from that this is a thing.....it's 2024, by now you must see they are a bunch of criminals that destroyed our way of life just to spite themselves
Unless someone wants to tell me who it really is...
I refuse to believe that he's gone... Keep rocking, man cause you are a legend :,(
i'm not sure why, but the foo fighters genuinely make me so happy
This is definitely my favorite FF song. These guys are rocking strong after all these years.
Me too lmL
Their #1 all-time
RIP Taylor. You were amazing, and a huge part of the greatness of the Foos. Well done.
Sonically, this song is unrivaled, not just in the Foo Fighters’ catalog, but in all of modern rock. I practically jump out of my seat when I hear those angular guitars and off-beat rhythms. There’s nothing like this elsewhere in rock. 🎸
🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
RIP TAYLOR, obrigado por todo legado deixado na história da música, jamais será esquecido, descanse em paz 😭
T.T sopa do lagrimas...
It’s so difficult to realise. I drum this song all the time, but today it was different. Today he’s dead. It’s a strange feeling, I can’t describe it in words.
What he said
a 50 year old man doing lines at 3 AM........a real super genius
Vegeta Forever
Foo Fighters inspired me to go all in with my music because Dave was once just like me, an artist without many listening. And now he’s on top. I believe it will happen for me one day, Im not stopping when it does! 🧡
Good luck, friend! 🙂
Keep going🔥
don't give up and I promise that you'll get there, I promise you that, anyone can do this
this is definitely one of my favourite songs by them, but the fact that people are still listening to it to this day amazes me
its a sick, underrated song!!
thanks to the internet people will still be listening to this in 100 years, if we're not back in teh stone age lol
I love that you are amazed by the longevity of a now 11 year old song with the whole catalogue of great material this band made before 2011, that is played almost every night at concerts.
Chuck Berry some of his songs are 65 years old and people listen to those too- good music is timeless..
I just got into the foo fighters in the last few months and have been going through their albums one by one, so glad I found this song by random when listening to the CD
Most Underrated Foo Fighters songs and videos. ❤️
Foo fighters are one of the best things to happen to the earth!
0:34
When you ask Dave to describe his life in 2 words.
Ha!
The drums in the chorus are unbelievably hard, amazing
+MrColmCostigan I think its a Rush signature. You can find it in: Time stand still, spirit of the radio, subdivision, middletown dreams, between the wheels, and a couple of other songs with some variants of it.
+soapywater you can also find alot of the who nirvana and zeppelin in it with stuff pinball wizard, when the levee breaks and almost all ride heavy nirvana songs.
+MrColmCostigan Don't worry dude, just work at it. Took me about a week to learn it, if you just isolate it and/or slow it down, you should be able to get it in no time
+MrColmCostigan dude play the separate parts, ride kick and snare, I learnt it by playing the ride with snare than the snare with kick then kick and ride, then mash it together, it took me 4 hours with this method. you posted this 4 months ago but you can use this method with any song really
+Mr Buster okay so I'm being completely serious right now, but the first time I heard this song I got it after about a day of listening to it a few times. I just can pick up on things like this so easily it's crazy. I just thought that I'd share my thoughts.
Taylor Hawkins would have turned 51 today. February 17, 1972.
He is missed by so many..
Rock In Peace Oliver Taylor Hawkins
Everytime I listen to this song, especially the chorus my eyes tear up and it's not because of sadness or anything , my emotins overwhelm me, like I've been holding them back! This is the point of music for me and FF are among the very best
I love how lo-fi and oldschool looking this video is, gives it a certain nostalgic feel.
I don't profess to know all of the Foo Fighters songs but i can't imagine another finer moment than between 2.47 to 3.29 in any of their other songs, it's utterly mind-blowing and i have to give it the upmost respect by giving it some serious volume.👍🏿🤘🏿
I watched an interview once where they were asked their favorite songs to play live and Taylor said "Rope" because it was fun to play and a little different then their usual stuff. It's always been one of my favorites of theirs and it's an added extra sweet touch to know that Taylor like it too. How can you miss someone you never knew? 😥
Taylor repping Neil with that ride cymbal pattern. Respect and R.I.P.
Heart broken 💔. Taylor doing what he did best in this AMAZING song. Thank you for everything you gave us! RIP.
Every part of this song is fantastic, RIP Taylor.
:50 is one of many examples of why Taylor was such an amazing drummer and really turned Foo Fighters into the band they became. What a huge, devestating loss.
Just can't get enough of this song .. The riff/drum intro is the best The energy and vocals can't be beat The visual change is wonderful Best video of a song i would grab that rope and pull you thru
50 year old black male here….this joint is dope ! RIP Taylor, I hope the pain is now gone.
Taylor Bogotá D.C. Y Colombia te amarán por siempre, gracias !!! ❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹

Underrated song
I love this band contrary to what people say and think.
***** What do people say and think?
A lot of my friends think they are mainstream..Which is true. But that's what happens over the years
***** you say that like it's a bad thing.
I didn't mean for it to sound bad. Just was stating what some people I know think of the Foos..They're just jealous :))
***** Time to get a few non-hipster friends for a change. lol
Such a complicated drum part in this song. Taylor’s so underatted
This is the point when I actually started listening to the foo fighters. They don't just rely on generic chorus, they actually do some tasty music rock.
Only 159 thousands likes for such a great song? The world is really a crazy place.

YOU LITERALLY ROCK FOO FIGHTERS!!!!!!!
Always loved the homage to Neil Peart that Taylor plays in this one. RIP Taylor....
This song is fckn DIFFERENT. Yum yeah.
RIP Taylor!!! This is my favorite Foo song because of you! We'll keep the fight going on this side brother! 🤘
Taylor Hawkins RIP - I'm in disbelief -- my favorite song he drummed on 😢
I was a drummer in a cover band and we used to play this one. I'm pretty sure that we sounded really bad but we had so much fun playing this song. Wasting Lights will always be my favorite FF album and Mr. Hawkins my favorite FF's member. Rest in Peace
I cried all day when Taylor Died. Rip taylor I was his biggest fan I am emotionally scard for life
Very sh*tty day. I can’t imagine what Dave is feeling right now I only know that God has him in the palm of his hand right now and the sun will rise again Dave. God bless you. We are all pulling for you brother. Much love.
This is my favorite Foo Fighters song. I love how f*cking tight Taylor and Nate are. I love how 3 crunchy guitars work so well together. I love how Taylor goes all Neil Peart on the ride cymbal during the chorus. I love that insane breakdown before the guitar solo and I love the solo itself. It's just a kickass rock song.
you listed everythiong that makes this song so special
Hard to believe that this came out in 2011 when most songs around this time weren’t even in 4:3.
Such a great solid band. I think people take for granted the level these fellas been at for a long time.
unironically the best song of all time
This was the first rock song that got me into rock music. Rest in peace,Taylor.
Rest in peace Taylor. We love you.
REST EASY TAYLOR 🥁🎸🕊

One of the coolest songs, one of the coolest videos, one of the coolest vocal tracks, one of the coolest drum solos, and one of the coolest guitar solos! It's just one of the coolest things ever!!!!!!!
Foo Fighters Forever ❤❤❤❤❤
A month later and I still can't get through this one without tears... not sure I ever will.
Cold day in the sun for me
My favorite FF song. The build up begins as soon as the song starts and the ending is perfection.
RIP Taylor Hawkins. Been such a huge FF fan since I was a child and when this song came out the ride beat made this song stand out so much more. I’m a huge death metal/deathcore drummer but damnit was this band awesome. 🫡

100% agree
Fluid here, sitting in new orleans, making gumbo, listening to foos play this song and I just reconized the signature Neil Peart ride pattern in the chorus. Thank you Taylor.
It's been over 10 years since I listen to this song almost in a daily basis. Taylor without a doubt is one of the best drummers of the last 30 years and this song proves it! It has tons of Groove! Punch! Musicality! Taste! there are tons of small details and ghost notes all over the track! And off course Neil Peart's tribute using YYZ ride pattern. A Real treasure for us fans of Taylor and drumming.
R.I.Power Tailor!
