I want to give some feedback on Corky’s. I’m growing Corky’s for 6 years. 3 years in CA and 3 outside of CA. In CA it was one of my favorite figs so I planted the tree in ground in my new location. Since leaving CA the tree dropped most of is main crop. The few that didn’t weren’t worth eating. While the tree produced 40 okay Brebas this year I’m going to dig out the tree this winter. So unless you are interested keeping the tree for Brebas I would cull it.
I have decided that next year I will be planting 5 of my fig trees in ground. CH, Bethlehem Black, Brown Turkey, unknown, I-258. Might plant one in my greenhouse. But not sure about that yet. Still having figs here. Was nice to have that warm up again.
Oooh! I keep remembering how you have JH Adriatic in ground - am I remembering wrong? Cuz I think the adriatics are hardy and it is such an amazing fig that I want to try it if I ever get it to root! 😄
@@afig3539 No, I don’t have any figs in ground yet. I have Adriatic JH though & it’s a wonderful fig! I’m thinking RdB is a good candidate for in ground fig. Just had 3 B Madeira figs tonight. 2 amazing & 1 a little unripe.
You got it! So far… 1. Madeira Island Black, i258, CdD Roja 2. Leon’s Montenegro 3. JH Adriatic + Strawberry Verte 4. Socorro Black + Zingarella + Ciliegia Dolce + CdD Blanca Negra 5. Texas Peach + LdA I’ll adjust it once I taste St. Martin, Figo Preto, and Nichadam Haven, CdD Mutante! The picks are purely based on flavor. I think the amount of sun my figs are getting has really affected their flavor + my fertilization (JADAM)
