I am an artist residing in beautiful Washington state. My paintings are heavily inspired by nature and its beauty. I work primarily in oil paint, and sometimes watercolor. I prefer to work in a mostly realistic style and occasionally experiment outside of that. I post oil painting time lapses, painting lessons and tutorials, drawings, art tips, and occasionally artist vlogs where I share bits of my life as an artist. Hiii! I was wondering if there was a reason that you moved? Are you planning to move into a house or buy the apartment in the future? You don’t have to answer I was just curious. Glad to see you’re doing well!
We've been planning to eventually move to the PNW for a few years now (we being my husband and I) because we both love being outdoors and hiking and were both just bored of Florida. I spent over a decade there and he was born and raised. Once we visited the area and confirmed we really liked it, we started making active plans to move within the past year. He landed a job in the summer and had to move in September, sooner than I was able to, so I stayed behind a couple months to wrap up my own stuff. Then I drove up with our pets and a friend, and yes we'd love to eventually buy a house up here but are renting for time being :]

You could get one of those Ikea NORDEN tables that you can fold. You can open either one or two sides, they also have extra drawer storage in the middle, I think it'd be really useful in your space!

A tip for that "flat pac" put together shelves and such....that cardboard backing is crucial to add extra nails to. Take one to a Lowes etc. show them and they get you a small box, buy several boxes. Now, any shelf that is not movable, nail the backing to that too....any raw edges I can glue I do but not necessary. Tacking that backing to the shelf makes a difference.

I am happy for you. Thanks for sharing what is a sacred space- your studio. I spent 6 years in the Tacoma-Seattle region and loved it. The smell of the trees driving from Seatac to my home was intoxicating. Once the whole COVID restrictions are behind us visit Vancouver and the rural countryside. The sea coast gets all the attention and it is beautiful. The huge wheat fields and farms I find comforting. Imitation is the ultimate flattery and you are one of my wanna-be like artist. I have an idea for an underwater painting I have been working up in my brain. Perhaps one day I will reach out and share and get advice. Enjoy the salmon.

Welcome to Washington! I also moved cross country- from Texas and I also LIVE IN A DARK CAVE. It's the worst. My entire existence revolves around the summers here. They make it all worth it 😉
Having the giant mirror behind you is great. Try stepping back to look at your painting and turn around to view in mirror. The mirrored image can help to pick out problem areas in your painting. Particularly with portraits / figures.

PNW can get dark! But enjoy those hikes in the area. I saw Little Si in the opening of your video, when it opens again I hope you can go to RattleSnake Ledge. Coming from Florida, you may really miss the sun, but patient and kind to yourself while you go through sun withdrawal!
