Adoption Story: The First Letter From My Biological Father

- I've never shared this letter with anyone. Literally, no one. Why share it on UA-cam for the first time? I don't know. Talking to a camera about my story has opened up things internally for me that I never anticipated. I've told my story to countless people, and it never gets old. I always have a level of excitement and emotion telling the story, but I've never experienced the feelings that talking to a camera has produced. I don't know what or why that is, but life is funny and I'm thankful.
Prior to any sort of adoption reunion there is a process that must take place, and exchanging letters and photos is one of the steps. In this video I read for you the very first letter I ever received from my biological father.

About us: We're biological brothers who lived a large portion of our lives separate without knowing one another existed. Now we've bought land together! I'm the good looking brother.

THE BIGGEST BLESSING IS THAT YOUR PARENTS CHOSE ADOPTION......for you, for them, for the souls of those involved....
It was a blessing for all, absolutely. Thanks for watching.
I can't imagine what it was like for you finding your parent after 28 years. Now you have the rest of your life to make memories.
It's been amazing. Buying this land with my brother and working on it together -- it's like we're finally able to build the fort or treehouse that we didn't get to build together as kids. Does that make sense? Thanks for watching!
What a powerfully moving letter from a loving father to his son! Obviously he never let go of you through the years.❤️ So glad you found each other.
Thank you so much! I'm working on a video that highlights the first letter I wrote to him. I hope to have it out in the next few weeks. Thanks again!
@@OurNewLand Would love to hear that one! Also, if you’re comfortable sharing, it would be nice to see the photos you all shared with one another in those first exchanges.🥰 All the best.
Oh my gosh Devon!!!! Now I’m in tears. This is such a beautiful story!!! Thank you for sharing this with us. And that letter is powerful and full of love from your father.
Thank you so much! It felt really good talking about it. Every time I do a video about the adoption, I learn something new about myself. It’s really something I didn’t expect. Thanks again!
Devon, you had me tearing up!
Aw, thanks LeAnne! It had me tearing up!
Your father sounds like an amazing human! ♥️ what a letter!!
He is awesome! Thank you! I'll be coming out with a video next month talking about the first letter I sent him, so please keep an eye out for it. Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing 😢
Thanks for the tears of gratitude, thankfulness and including the world of your joy in sharing your emotional moments.
Thank you so much, Betty! I'm glad you liked it!
This story mad me cry . Because I my self is looking for my sister. I need to tell her our mom has passed .
I am very sorry for your loss. I hope you find your sister soon.
I can not begin to understand your feelings of loss and happiness. There is absolutely nothing in our lives that is perfect…although we all hope for perfection. Sometimes life gives us a different story and a different outcome. We all survive by our hearts desire ❤
Thanks, Bex. All of those tears were tears of joy. I’ve been very blessed. My life has blazed an unconventional path to this point, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
I am happy that you are able to share your stories. You can reach so many people who have gone through similar circumstances. ❤
I didn't expect it, but our adoption videos have really caused me to explore my emotions on the entire experience. It's been amazing!
This video rips at my heart! 😭😭❤️❤️🌹🌹Devon, you are so real, so open. You lay it all out there. I'm so happy for all of you!

What a wonderful story. You are so lucky to have been able to be in touch with the family, whereas I was not so fortunate.
Thanks, Roberta! I have been very fortunate through all of this. I'm sorry you didn't get the chance with your family. We really appreciate your support!
Very touching video, you had me in tears. Will be following you on your journey for sure. 👍❤️🇨🇦

It was amazing to hear about this process when it was happening, and even more amazing to hear these details and how it has affected your life years later. MD2B was in your blood!
Thanks, bud! It’s been an amazing journey!
I just love your story thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Thank you so much!
Beautiful, just beautiful. Hope to see pictures on one of these videos.
Ah, thank you so much, Karen. We do need to do a picture video of how much Ryan and I looked alike as kids, and how much I now look like our father! Our sister and mother want to keep their pics off of the channel, so it will just be the guys! We do hope to have a video that focuses on our sister and mother, since we have a very tight relationship with them, but we need to do it a way that they are comfortable with. Thanks again!
Well done D!
Thanks a ton!
Heart warming story. Thank you for sharing your vulnerability with us. A great happy ending for all. 💕
Thank you so much for the kind words! It’s been a wonderful experience.
man you guys are blessed beyond measure!!!
Thank you so much Michael!
Thank you Devon, your sharing YOUR story. Appreicated. will your birth family ever be on a video with you and Ryan??
Some will for sure. Our mother and sister value their privacy, so I doubt they will appear. But, you never know! Thanks again!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful, loving letter. God bless you and your family.
Thank you very much, Evelyn!
I love hearing your story. Thank you for sharing. So looking forward to following your journey.
Thank you so very much!!

Thanks for watching! We're loving your channel!
A very interesting story , would love to hear more ,
Thanks a ton, Val! More to come!
@@OurNewLand looking forward to see your camping & adoption story’s , mine was similar , but not as such a happy ending , although we keep in touch. You are all so blessed xxx
@@valhipkiss4011 Thanks again. I have been very fortunate, and my experience is definitely not the norm. I have a sister that I grew up with. She was also adopted. Her "reunion" with her birth mother was not a positive experience. Take care, Val.
@@OurNewLand you need to write a book, or have a u tube that you can just talk on the reunion , I don’t broad cast my story , because I was very secretive about it , I’m now 73 , but still hear from my daughter I adopted out , but it’s just like talking to a friend , it’s sad , but she’s ok now ,
I’m so invested in your story lol
Thank you so much!! I plan to record an update tomorrow and have it posted later in the week. Thanks again!
This was beautiful!! 💗
Thank you! I still need to ask our dad if he has the letters I wrote.
Just beautiful!
I’m glad you liked it, Lilly! Thanks for watching.
I can relate personally. Your story is similar to mine.
I was telling my brother about how you found out you were adopted. Amazing story! Thanks for watching!
Very special. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Cinnie!
Hi Devon, wonderful video of your dad's first letter to you. Thanks for having the courage to share this memorable time in your adult life.
Thank you so much, Ben!
God bless you, Devon. Love having found your family and watching your videos. Good Lord does some amazing things and bringing your families story into the lives of so many others is just another one of them. Thank you, JEFF!!!!
Thank you so much, Luci! We definitely have been blessed to have been reunited in such a positive way. Thanks again!
❤
Thanks for watching, Margaret!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! I recently read the letter that I first sent to my birth father, and I plan on making a video discussing it. Thanks again!
Was Devon the name that your birth parents or adoptive parents gave you?
My adoptive parents named me after the part of England my adoptive dad’s family came from. Great question!
❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thank you so much, Jodie! I really appreciate it!
Did you ever post your letter? I can't find that video.
I haven't posted that one yet. It will be the next adoption video I post. Ryan may post one before it though. Thanks for asking!!
Well, do you look like them or not? (You said was your main interest).
I very much look like my father and my maternal grandfather. Thanks for asking!
I 🤔
Thanks for watching, Miriam!
Years ago when I was little my ball glove got it out of the closet and put it on and felt like a splinter on my pointer finger. It wasn't it was dang spider came crawling out and that was it with spiders.
Yeah, that would do it for me!!
