I wanted to let you guys know something. I love all of you who help make these movies, tutorials and whatever. Tomorrow is my first ever HEMA fencing class, which I'm feeling very excited, and however very nervous for. I'm scared of holding a knife with the intent to hit, or even trying to defending. I'm scared of defending, but I'm sure I'll get less scared over time. Also, you guys are in a way an inspiration, since I remember watching you when I first starting to really get into my obsession with medieval times. I implore you to continue making videos for people like me who look up to you, perhaps you could even make tutorials in the future, teaching moves, and teaching how to not be so scared to pick up a blade, like me! Haha, anyways, thank you Akedemia Szermierzy!

The sounds is a bit low though, and the voice-over can at times be hard to hear clearly over the music.

I jump in the HEMA world few months ago (almost year now, yeaaaaah, i'm happy !), and each time I understand something, I see what I have to understand left. And it is just enormous.
Not only I love longsword, but I am begining to look in the direction of i.33 and polish saber.
HEMA are just a beautiful art.
    Fencing is a beautiful art.
It feels to me that I will not be able to turn away from it, and with only one lesson per week, I feel... empty :o

    Hi! Great vid.
That “HEMA tree” is something you could print out as a poster and “sell” to support the channel.
I mean, it’s beautiful, cheap to make as a poster; and would be a good way to support the channel.
    Just a thought.

Interesting that you mention that some considered the counterattack to be the "jewel" of fencing @ 6:24 mark. Bruce Lee thought of counter punching as a higher form of offense. Bruce Lee was influenced by boxing and fencing. The Tao of Jeet Kune Do has references to fencing works.

I concur. Though the way these things are discussed in Japanese fencing is quite different, the core ideas are the same. Particularly how counter-attack actions are considered in high esteem by fencers.
One interesting point that could be consider to differ is how in classical Japanese fencing there is not that strong a distinction between the "preparation" and "action" phases. You are expected to be observant at all times, and are taught to attack with a soft body in some schools precisely so that you could change intent mid-action. This can be seen in some Aikido sword forms.
