This just in, well some months ago but still: Shoji Tabuchi, a major attraction for decades, is known as the “King of Branson.” His theater was severely damaged by fire in 2017, so the show was moved to the Clay Cooper Theater. It was discontinued during most of 2020, however, but will resume at the restored Tabuchi Theater in 2022. Be cool about fire safety.
That man came to America with nothing but 500 dollars and a violin. And now he has a loyal fan base that fill the seats of his theater and have been for many years. He truly is living the American dream with his beautiful wife and kids.
My aunt took my grandma on one of those all-inclusive bus trips for seniors to Branson. I sent her with a question from this episode, and she came through in spades. She didn't get to ask Shoji himself, but she did ask his daughter... Turns out the only reason he asks for no cameras during his Nasa Fiddle segment is that it messes up their glow-in-the-dark special effects. He does allow photos of the fiddle when it's not needed for the show. Sorry if someone already explained this one below.
So I actually saw a Shoj show and it was so so boring but the bathroom he has in his theater is amazing!! The men's one even has a pool table. It was almost worth sitting through the show.
I live and work in Branson. I actually work across the street from his theatre. I've heard from other performers that he doesn't actually speak with with an accent. Red letter media is correct when they say it's a novelty.

Yesterday I was packing my 80 year old grandfather's belongings (he's going into a care facility) and found a signed Shoji Tabuchi DVD along with a flyer. Had to come here and comment.
That would a pretty specific, strange thing to try to get clout for, seeing as this video is years old and Shoji basically handed out autographed DVDs to anyone who went to his shows. Shoji was a great dude. He paid my bills for a decade and contributed to my overall yearly income for an additional 10 after that. The show was what it was. It was exactly as you explained - it was made not to be too “out there” for bus loads of church groups. That said - from 1993- roughly 2005 there were 2000 asses in seats 2 to 3 times a day. Just for the record - that video was torture to make. We worked 70 -80 hours a week already. It got worse when we made videos. Also the musicians, singers were from all over the US. While i was teaching in japan I befriended a seriously westaboo jehova's witness and began going over to her parent's house for dinner and to sing old western folk songs along with the piano. At first it was super awkward but they were actually really lovely, warm people and their obsession with old west dress and culture was kind of a charming counter balance to the awkward weebs I have known in the states. They'd meticulously collected things like the lyrics of tunes like On Top of Old Smokey. Considering I'd never learned any version except the on top of spaghetti one, I got educated a bit more on my own cultural heritage. Weebs might be cringey but I think japanese people feel the same way about them as I felt about my westaboo friend's family- they might be eccentric but their appreciation and love for the culture shone through and they seemed very happy and full of life, and definitely weren't hurting anyone via cultural exchange.

That Dunkin Donuts videos reminds me of those horrible days working in retail when management would do all those stupid thing to get you excited about work. When you pay minimum wage you're not going to get passionate employees, just be happy if you get people that show up on time and don't spit in the doughnuts.
I would jerk off in the doughnuts if I worked there. I hate everything. I used to work at a deli, and the best thing I ever did there was work through Christmas day whilst listening to a Charles Mingus album.
+jac6995 I work as a cashier in Wal-Mart. They could murder someone in front of me and I wouldn't give a shit because I'm not paid enough to give a shit anyways.
That Shoji guy is actually that popular. There's a lot of competition in Branson and he does shows in florida where some of my relatives live. He does seem to have found his niche.
Inspired by this video, I saw Shoji in Branson a couple years ago. His production values are reduced these days. Smaller band. He updated his act with a little modern pop. I got a picture with him which is now lost to time. More importantly: the Shoji Tobuchi Theater has, without a doubt, the greatest men's room I have ever set foot in. I could explain, but it really has to be experienced firsthand.
Shoji was definitely doing a bit when he studders, because he was joking that the guy who taught him English was Mel Tillis, a country legend known for his speech impediment......not sure that makes it any better though since he was mocking a disability #speechimpairmentshaming.....but at least he wasn't making fun of aaaaaaaaaaids!
Holy shit this blew my mind. I've always been confused as to what the shoji tubuchi show was, thinking it was some Japanese game show or something. In the first few seconds of watching, when I realized the audience was all American I was slightly confused but when I head the woman at the beginning ask if anyone was from Missouri I immediately started wondering if it was recorded in Branson MO. I looked it up before the video was finished and oh shit yes he is... I'm from around Kansas City and have been to Branson before so to fill you in it's a very odd place. Driving through the town it feels like Las Vegas or Reno with big theaters, bright signs advertising different shows and recreations. It also has some big outlet mall shopping centers. It's a very Christian place, lot's of people go there for vacation stuff and shopping.
Branson being "the Las Vegas of Missouri" is strange considering back in the 20s, KCMO was considered a proto-Las Vegas (Look up the Pendergast years!)
I just looked it up on Google maps, and it's like no place I've ever seen. It's all just theaters, big box outlets, malls, motels and restaurants. There's no industry or residential areas at all. It's like this huge urban center, yet no one lives there.
Since I am about to travel through Branson Missouri, i was going to purchase a ticket to see Shoji Tabuchi for myself. But the theater caught on fire and closed for renovations. I bet it was that hack, Mike!!!
Wow is Mike okay with his other half giving Rich those 'fuck me' eyes the whole time? Wait, Mike's giving him 'fuck me' eyes too! And so is Jay! And me!
He didn't want any photos at that point of the show because the flash would ruin the effect of the glow in the dark visuals but isn't good enough at English to explain it, I assume.

Tunaboy45 I'm ordering the video of him covering the best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and The best of Wu Tang.
Tunaboy45
He should cover 'War' by Burzum. He couldn't garble the lyrics any worse than Varg does.
It would be hilarious until he started trying to stab the audience members.

@@jiub9 explains why you're a jobless loser. You're a goddamned sociopath, please stay out of public.
The grand reveal of Shoji and their reaction has to be one of the best BOTW moments. "He's terrible!"
That Shoji guy is actually that popular. There's a lot of competition in Branson and he does shows in florida where some of my relatives live. He does seem to have found his niche.
Holy shit. I just moved to Florida. Off to his website to see if he's coming to Miami anytime soon!!!
Shoji Tobuchi died today, aged 79.
Let's blame Stoklasa for it.
As of yesterday, Aug 14 2023, Showing Tobuchi has passed. Rest in peace dude
Hearing Jessi's laugh again was refreshing
It gives these early BOTW a special zest
i miss her😭
She had a very fun and lively energy compared to the elderly men we have now. 😔
"Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na........."

My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
You will be missed, Shoji. Let's pour one out.
I started watching BoTW only recently. Six years later, the Shoji Tabuchi hype was still real for me. And it did not disappoint.
That feel when Rich Evans will never be your dad
Rich can't because he reproduces through Richtosis
Somewhere in the cosmos, there is a herd of wild Rich Evanses running free across those distant fields.
Actually he his my dad, he just won't admit to it.
"That's getting cut."
Rich was so naive back then...
RIP Shoji Tabuchi

And owned by Ned Flanders
I have family members who are so ultra religious even Branson is like Sodom and Gomorrah.
I watch this multiple times and I still get giddy when Shoji comes up on stage!
Shoji Tabuchi is the ultimate rewatching experience on this channel
Why didn't you guys review the classic movie "Old Woman Lists the Contents of Her Purse"?
It was a whammy
That's what I'm here wondering!
Really, Branson is full of bizarre stage shows. Its like some kind of wierd kitsch zone that the world forgot.
When you live in the east-Kansas/west-Missouri area you are unable to forget Branson.
Rare footage of Rich Evans correctly pronouncing fire extinguisher
He did however pronounce 'housewives' as 'horsewives' at 3:12
Rest In Peace King of Branson 🎻
Rest in Peace Shoji you legendary old people pleaser you
Rest in peace Shoji. You live on in RLM infamy. Branson Missouri lost its only reason to barely slow down while passing through.
I love Shoji andandandandandand-and friends.
RIP to Shoji. We stan whatever his deal was
On Shojis Wikipedia page it credits his enduring popularity to this Best of the Worst episode.
11:18 I'm 5 hours behind schedule at work and I just watched Mike's reaction 15 times in a row. It just melts my heart.
Was it all worth it?
+Derendscools oh yes.
Since I am about to travel through Branson Missouri, i was going to purchase a ticket to see Shoji Tabuchi for myself. But the theater caught on fire and closed for renovations. I bet it was that hack, Mike!!!
You missed a so-so show, but you also missed the greatest restroom of all time. No joke. I hope the men's room remains intact.
3:10 EXECUTIVE HORSEWIVES
RIP Shoji! Keep on fiddling 🎻
I've never seen Jessi laugh so much in BotW, she was in tears when Shoji finally came on stage for his bit!
Wow is Mike okay with his other half giving Rich those 'fuck me' eyes the whole time?
Wait, Mike's giving him 'fuck me' eyes too!
And so is Jay!
And me!
williamthescot isn't that Rich sister??
Jay did say that Rich and Mike left the room at one point so...
I thought Mike's other half was Susan?
rest in power, king
He didn't want any photos at that point of the show because the flash would ruin the effect of the glow in the dark visuals but isn't good enough at English to explain it, I assume.
It's 2023 and that Shoji Tobuchi VHS tape is still available!
