Wow! An extremely steep incline, the entire way to the top. But the panoramic view was spectacular! Thank you, Phil, for another very beautiful walk through the countryside. You never disappoint.
Really good video, some lovely views and scenery. Mow Cop castle, one of my favourite places. My dad came from Kidsgrove and loved taking me up there many years ago when I was young, l think it brought back a lot of memories for him.
When I say thank you for showing me the walk to Mow Cop I really mean it because that must have been exhausting to walk and film. Very enjoyable cheers Phil.
Crikey that was a hilly walk for the lungs!! I hope you took a drink and a biscuit to eat at the top!!! Well done!!! Lovely scenery for those of us that have not faced the hill challenge!! X
G'day Phil. I so much enjoy your walking Vlogs. It is like being on the walk with you. It is a very cold Winter where I live and even on a PC screen I can appreciate how warm it is on the walk. Cheers.
Glorious view..! Very nice hike..The wooded area wonderful gnarly old branches ..So many lovely flowers...hard work Phil..thank you so much.. Very happy you survived the attack on the tower..🙃 Very Interesting...😊
@@NarrowboatJourneys Did you know Murgon is a town in Queensland Australia? If the attack is coming from that far. They are hiding something perhaps beneath the area!! 😆 lol
An excellent excursion thank Phil. It doesn't seem right, you having to lug us around everywhere you go, but we really do appreciate it. Not in the, we'll hand over a bundle of cash as a reward sort of way, but the self centred grab what you can for nicks way. I really do enjoy our adventures and am already anticipating our next. Many thanks for your efforts Phil, take care.
History. The name is first recorded as Mowel around 1270 AD, and is believed to derive from either the Anglo-Saxon Mūga-hyll, meaning "heap-hill", with copp = "head" added later, or the Common Celtic ancestor of Welsh moel (= hill), with Anglo-Saxon copp added later.
What a lovely lovely walk. Opening vistas and dream scapes in a world i will likely never be able to visit in person. Thank you Phil! Its really gorgeous. Your efforts are very much appreciated it brings a lot of happiness. Stay well. Happy boating.
Beautiful scenery, nicely paced walk, would be fantastic if you could get your Cats to walk to heel and accompany you. The independence of Cats is a huge part of their charm, but also frustrating when you see dogs getting to walk with their owners and Cats flatly refuse.
Another lovely walk Phil. 🚶♂️ But we went through it with you, we were quite out of breath watching you! Thanks for doing this walk as now we have seen it, we won't have to do it when we come up in September!! 🤣🤣
What a great video!!! I can't get to much of castles and churches. It looks like you would never run out of content if you wanted to showcase those kind of things!!! Thanks for taking the time to make this video...
The trouble is, when you walk down into a valley, and then have to get back afterwards. Nice walk, I can feel my legs complaining already ! Stay safe, Stu xx
Loved this mate, Mow Cop is officially in Cheshire it seems , but for many in Stoke-on-Trent it is a Staffordshire high point with a Folly on the top. In Stoke we called it Mow as in Oww ! as if you got a sting, not Mow as in Mow grass. Mow Cop pronounced ' M'oww' Cop. A tough walk for a young lad ! Passed it many times coming home to Stoke, never went up there, too many Marstons and Stones pubs beckoning returning after 12 months working abroad!
Thank you. I don't worry too much about pronunciation as when I was in Wales I asked six locals how to pronounce Cefn Mawr... and got six different amswers! ;-)
Thanks for the video Phil. I completed the same route a week previously but returned via the old tramway through 'The Bank' and Kent Green Bridge no 87. Look forward to your next vid.
Nice walk. Are you a glutten for punishment? The path seemed a little vague in places, but you found your way. The Old Man of Mow really did look almost human, as you said, from the right angle. Mow Cop was well worth the effort. What an amazing view and one of your best walks (at least for us sitting in a chair at home). I hope you got back down safely without twisting the ankles. Thank you Phil. Really excellent.
Hi Phil Some heavy breathing going up to the folly you had better have the next week off,I bet that is Horrible up there in the Winter, I liked the Lightning Strike at the end. Thanks for that . Cheers
can i ask what do constant cruisers do about seeing a doctor or getting medication. i guess its not a problem if your staying in the area but for those who travel afar is there a system in place for those just in case times.
Wow, what a fantastic walk. Curious: was that poisonous Hawthorn blooms the first part of your video? Also, why so many gates? The castle was very impressive. As you said, spectacular views. I'm so tired Phil, I need a nap. Your walking videos are so smooth, seems like your on roller skates. You stay safe out there.
Enjoyed the walk. Don't you love how dog walkers pick up the dog poo but can't be bothered to dispose of it properly and just leave it for someone else, really gets on my nerves. Are the walks you do part of the National Trust or just marked trails you can do?
Those youngsters caused me extra work. They were playing loud music which would have landed me a copyright claim if I had left it in... So the Murgons took care of them for me! ;-)

Wow what a walk up hill. Spectacular. I would never have made it so thank you for taking me there. Beautiful.
Thank you for watching.
I feel like I'm getting a workout just from watching this...lol
What a lovely way to start our Saturday morning. A walk up to the folly watched in bed with a nice filter coffee. Superb.
Thank you. It's not even Saturday here yet! ;-)
Ah! The sounds of nature.. Birds, bees and Phil's rapid inhalation!
Nice walk.
Thank you. Things should be easier (though possibly less interesting?) when I move to flatter terrain...
Really good video, some lovely views and scenery. Mow Cop castle, one of my favourite places. My dad came from Kidsgrove and loved taking me up there many years ago when I was young, l think it brought back a lot of memories for him.

Yes it was
Thanks for sharing. What beautiful views all the way along and especially from the top.
Crikey that was a hilly walk for the lungs!! I hope you took a drink and a biscuit to eat at the top!!! Well done!!! Lovely scenery for those of us that have not faced the hill challenge!! X
I did take some water with me.
Wow! What a walk. Careful on the way down. Thanks
Wow, what a view!
I believe it worth the effort
Thank you!
Thank you. It was!
Lovely video Phil, English summer at its best. Stunning views from the top!
Many thanks!

Impressive! Mow cop seems to ring a bell with regard to transmitter aerial locations
Wow! Getting up there would kill me but what a view.
The folly hilltop would be a great place to picnic & watch clouds. The forest was a pretty way to get there...thanks for sharing, Phil!
Thank you, it was a nice walk.
Glorious view..! Very nice hike..The wooded area wonderful gnarly old branches ..So many lovely flowers...hard work Phil..thank you so much..

Probably the Murgons again?

Thank you for taking me with on that walk very much appreciated......lovely area.....x
My pleasure 😊
Thank you Phil that was very hard work but what a reward at top. Thank you again.
Hey thank you Phil, what a lovely area, thank you so much for doing the strenuous walk for me. Take care.
My pleasure
I thought that was a cute little black bunny garden statue right inside the Mow Cop entrance...but nope! 🐰
So tame you could almost catch it! :-)

Enjoyed the views on this walk and hope you have regained your energy levels with that incline.
To be honest it usually takes me a couple of days to recover from some of these walks!
That was a really interesting walk to watch. Thanks!
Lovely walk but was amazed to see homes so high you could have driven up......you have to wonder what it looked like when still in use......

Glad you enjoyed it
What a great walk
You are fitter than you think
Many thanks for a very interesting vlog 5 star
Many thanks. It usually takes me a couple of days to recover from these walks! Not aching or sore, just very tired.
I about had a heart attack just watching you climb the hill. hahaha
A very enjoyable change from cruising, Thank you ..... it's a bit blowey at the to;!!!

@@NarrowboatJourneys That Welsh for you ! Ask a staffs or Cheshire local on Mow Cop, only one way to say it ! haha
thanks saves me a walk
It's a hard walk, but well worth it on a good day. Those woods can get very slippery after rain.
Thanks for the video Phil. I completed the same route a week previously but returned via the old tramway through 'The Bank' and Kent Green Bridge no 87. Look forward to your next vid.
Thanks Phil, stunning scenery. Lovely walk.. looked very steep☺☺
Thanks 👍 it was steep.

Looks like that tree at 15:23 has had a rough life.
It has indeed.
Excellent video.
Thank you very much.
Lovely for we desertcdwelkersctovsee GREEN!
You've obviously been out in the sun too long! ;-)
Thanks for the video, spectacular views from the top, doubt I'd make it past the first gate! 😕
It was hard work.
can i ask what do constant cruisers do about seeing a doctor or getting medication. i guess its not a problem if your staying in the area but for those who travel afar is there a system in place for those just in case times.
You can register as a temporary patient but some doctors practices can be difficult.
It is Mow as in OW or HOW or MEOW

I have no idea? There was cow parsley but the Hawthorn has finished flowering.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💓
I noticed when you meet people on your walks I never hear you say good morning or afternoon or anything. How come?? Do you do all voice overs?
I do greet people frequently. Several times in this video alone. You're not paying attention! ;-)
Enjoyed the walk. Don't you love how dog walkers pick up the dog poo but can't be bothered to dispose of it properly and just leave it for someone else, really gets on my nerves. Are the walks you do part of the National Trust or just marked trails you can do?
Mow Cop is National Trust but there are plenty of other public footpaths all over this country.
Got my Friday mornings off to a great start… thx for taking us on this beautiful walk 💜 fabulous views⚡️💥fun ending
