The pants have saved my day! I kept undoing and redoing because I kept missing the stitch and didn't really know how to spot the gap. This has been SO helpful, thank you :)
Thank you for your 'ridiculous ' terminology. It was exactly the tip we all needed! As a teacher I know that all my students need lots of ways to learn. As a student myself PANTS were just what I needed to learn the moss stitch! Can't thank you enough for the humor as well!!
I NEVER comment on videos but I have to compliment you on the explanation of the PANTS. That was a perfect example/explanation of how to find the spot to insert the hook. Thank you!!
Calling the back of the single crochet “pants” actually made me understand where to put the next stitch. Thank you for your silly terminology because it was actually really helpful!
The “Pants” reference was exactly what I was looking for I’ve been struggling for 3 days now trying to figure out if I was going in the right gap and no one else broke it down like you didn you have no clue how grateful I am for that analogy 👖☺️😂🙏😊
Thank you for showing what exactly the chain space is. I’m new and was so confused as to if I was in the right spot. You actually made it clear and super easy!
This is the fourth video I watched and the first time I actually managed to figure out which chain space to work in! Thank you for the pants analogy, it saved me!
I have been crocheting for years. Yet I have never heard the terms bunny ears or pants !!! Thank you for your technical terminology !! I use them now !!! Thank you for sharing and caring 👍🏿👏🏿🎈🙌🏼👊❤️😍🥰❌⭕️🎈💝🍓❣️
Ive been crocheting this stitch for years and I never knew the name of it. Im 63 & my grandmother taught me to crochet & knit when I was 6 & how to pattern read when I was 10 I cant knit to save my life as crocheting was always my favorite. Thru the years I swore Id find the names of alit of my favorite pattern stitches & waalaa you have taught me the name of my "go to" stitch. Ive now subscribed to your channel & cant wait to see what new tricks & tips you can teach this old dog.! Thank you
Excellent tutorial!! I wish I had watched it all the way through before starting though. Turns out I was doing it wrong, but after your tip about the "pants" I figured it out. I'm brand new at crocheting, I've only done single crochet in varying sizes of rectangles. Can't wait to watch some more of your videos.
Wanted to learn this stitch for a scarf. Absolutely love this tutorial! I've been crocheting for 6 years and I'm obsessed with calling the stitches pants 😂
I watched at least three other tutorials trying to figure out moss stitch and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Your "pants" tips made it click! Thank you so much!
Oh all the videos I’ve watched on the moss stitch this is by far the best!! The edges are straight and there is so much more structure by starting with a single crochet row first. Thank you so much!!❤️
Wow, who knew there were so many ways to create this stitch. This is my favorite method because I also like to work off of a SC foundation. It adds stability and can be used as a border.
I’m a beginner who has made wonky dishcloths with mistakes everywhere but still proud of them! I really want to try this moss stitch for the next dishcloth so I am thankful you used a chunky yarn to demonstrate-it’s easy to see and follow along. Many thanks for this tutorial. From a true beginner.
Omg I have struggled with this stitch for YEARS. And I was determined to master it with this one pattern I really really wanted to accomplish. But dang it if it wasn’t beating me again. So in yet another desperate tutorial search… THE BACK OF THE STITCH IS PANTS. I just… I get it. I FINALLY get it! I am so happy right now. Thank you so much!
Oh your “pants” indication helped a bunch! Thank you for that and thank you for the video, you make it easy to follow. You go slow and you explain; so helpful 😍🙏🏼thank you.
Great video 😂 there are so many tutorials out there teaching the moss/linen stitch. No disrespect to them but I love the fact you start with a sc row first. Thank you. ❤
Omg yours was like the 4th video I’ve watched trying to learn this stitch. I actually was able to make the stitch watching your video. Keep teaching the way you teach because it made sense to me. I finally was able to complete the moss stitch.. Thank you so much.
Your pants reference helped me so much thank you for that visual I was having the hardest time understanding where I was supposed to put my hook till now thank you so much 😭
I LOVE your "tips"! I am a total beginner, so I am learning to recognize where to place stitches. Rabbit ears and pants are PERFECT for me!!! Please make more tutorials with different types of stitches! I learn so easily from your simple and practical explanations. I made a small cloth to test my moss stitch abilities and it looks pretty good! I am going to make a regular straight scarf next. I do wish I knew how to make the edges look more finished, but did figure out to add a full row of single crochet to the bottom end to at least make the ends look nice and finished.
So confusing because so many other people teach to do even row for the starting chain. I'm going to go with this one and see how it goes :-). And an update. I love this version so much. I also like a solid foundation chain. I've been wanting to use this stitch and every time I've gone to learn it, I get confused but this is definitely going to work. Awesome tutorial. Thank you!
I am a beginner in crochet. I have found your tip for looking for the pants to be so helpful. I feel like I am able to find the correct place to insert my hook now just by looking for the pants. Thanks for the very funny and useful tip!
I absolutely love the moss stitch, especially when there’s some sort of color change, but the amount of videos on how to do it is wild. Some say start with an even number of chains, others start with odd; some have a two-row repeat, others a single… it’s very confusing for someone who’s been crocheting less than six months. This seems to be one of the better explanations and I definitely prefer single line repeats so I’m going to practice this one and see how I do. 😅
Yes the "Pants" term is a game changer. I had tried this stitch in the past and kept putting my sc in the wrong spot. I gave this stitch another try because I love the look and with the pants I'm off to a good start on my blue and yellow blanket. It is a simple stitch with pretty results. It will look great with color changes and I like that it works good for a boy or girl blanket. This is a keeper now that i can do it properly. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I've been trying to do this stitch for so long and haven't been able to find anyone to explain it as well as you do! I was about ready to give up until I found your video 🙏
Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial! I tried this again and again and after watching you, I can finally do it. I have tons of variegated yarn that is supposed to look great in this stitch. Also the pants and bunny ears are great visuals.
Love this stitch. I’m going to try to make a children’s scarf out of it. I’m not a real good at this, but I am going to try it anyway. You did a fantastic job in the video of teaching. Thanks so much.
I love the way the single crochet stitch was used to begin the blanket, now I am at the end of the blanket and trying to figure out how to transition back from the moss stitch to the single crochet to make a matching border
Thankyou so much for the great tutorial. The 'pants' reference is a game changer for me, because now I will always know exactly where to put my first stitch each row. xx
Oh My Goodness, this is not only a super pretty stitch, but it is so *easy* and you explained it nicely. I'm crocheting a scarf for a dear friend in Germany and this will be perfect for my little "experiment". I have been looking for a stitch that looks substantial and "beefy", if you will, and this fits the bill. Thank you for posting this!
Thankyou so much for using big size P needles. Your explanations are top notch. Since you're teacher that explains alot. Going to tell new crocheter's to go to your site. Your camera angles are magnificent. 🧶 Learned alot from you in a week time doing the super scarf.
thank you ! this is my first moss stitch project and the pattern I was following wasn't working , the two single crochets at the ends fixed all the problems I was having
thank you! this stitch is so easy and fast to crochet, and it is indeed very soft and drapey! your explanation was thorough and to the point. thank you so much
The "pants" tip is EPIC!! Your video is perfection, SOOO easy to follow! Im using a thinner yarn for my moss stitch and your pants tip made this sooo easy! Had no idea there were different ways of doing moss stitch...yours is the best I've found!! Thanks soo much! I'm enjoying crochet again!!
You are my hero!!! I’ve been wanting to create a blanket with this stitch but every time I tried I just couldn’t get it right. Thank you so much! Pants Pants Pants!!! ❤️👖🥰
The pants have saved my day! I kept undoing and redoing because I kept missing the stitch and didn't really know how to spot the gap. This has been SO helpful, thank you :)
THANK YOU! The best Moss stitch for beginners I've watched and the "pants" explanation was an AHA moment for me.
“Pants” - Love it! Now I get the moss stitch and love it! thank you Ginger.😊
Thank you for your 'ridiculous ' terminology. It was exactly the tip we all needed! As a teacher I know that all my students need lots of ways to learn. As a student myself PANTS were just what I needed to learn the moss stitch!

Best moss stich tutorial I've seen
I NEVER comment on videos but I have to compliment you on the explanation of the PANTS. That was a perfect example/explanation of how to find the spot to insert the hook. Thank you!!
Calling the back of the single crochet “pants” actually made me understand where to put the next stitch. Thank you for your silly terminology because it was actually really helpful!
I love the “pants” terminology! Thank you so much, it’s gonna make my project so much easier!!
The “Pants” reference was exactly what I was looking for I’ve been struggling for 3 days now trying to figure out if I was going in the right gap and no one else broke it down like you didn you have no clue how grateful I am for that analogy 👖☺️😂🙏😊
I am a knitter who is attempting to be more proficient in crochet. This video gave me hope 😂Super instructional video!!
Thank you for showing what exactly the chain space is. I’m new and was so confused as to if I was in the right spot. You actually made it clear and super easy!
This is the fourth video I watched and the first time I actually managed to figure out which chain space to work in! Thank you for the pants analogy, it saved me!
Now when I look down at my working row, I see “bunny ears” and “pants”!! Let me thank you now for changing my crochet world!! {{winking}}…
3:13 😅
It made sense the way she described it. I couldn’t find where to stitch watching so many other videos. Now I look for bunny ears and pants.
I’ve been crocheting for almost 15 years and you have no idea how much this trick worked for me! I finally get it! 😂❤
I’m mainly a knitter, but I’m loving crochet more and more and most all my crochet projects are in moss stitch! My fave too!
I LOVE your tip on the pants! It's the best explanation I've heard! Thanks!
I love your terminology it helped me learn this stitch and not have a lot of frogging to do
"IGNORE THE PANTS" 🤣 I love this. What a great way to remember.
Ive been crocheting this stitch for years and I never knew the name of it. Im 63 & my grandmother taught me to crochet & knit when I was 6 & how to pattern read when I was 10 I cant knit to save my life as crocheting was always my favorite. I haven't supposed so fat that it is so simple! You can't imagine how grateful I am, thank you very much, very, very much!
I've been struggling learning how to crochet for weeks now, this video stopped me quitting. Thanks for posting.
Hope you have many happy years of crocheting!
Wanted to learn this stitch for a scarf. Absolutely love this tutorial!

I love the drape of this stitch too. This and extended single crochet.
Oh all the videos I’ve watched on the moss stitch this is by far the best!! The edges are straight and there is so much more structure by starting with a single crochet row first. Thank you so much!!❤️
I absolutely agree!!!
Wow, who knew there were so many ways to create this stitch. This is my favorite method because I also like to work off of a SC foundation. It adds stability and can be used as a border.

This stitch is perfect for dishcloths! I highly recommend sticking with cotton yarn in case it ever touches heat in the kitchen ❤️

I love the way the single crochet stitch was used to begin the blanket, now I am at the end of the blanket and trying to figure out how to transition back from the moss stitch to the single crochet to make a matching border
Hi! To do that. You would single crochet in both the space between the "pants" and in the "pants". In the ch 1 space and in the single crochet across.
@@GingerKnots omg thank u so much!!
Thank you for sharing now it makes an even edge. Now I can finish my project. 👍
