    Just received my four Ho scale RS11s today - all BN (two patches NP). Excellent as per all of my other Rapido locos. Thank you guys. You have raised the bar on the RS 11 from all previous offerings from the various other manufacturers. I was right to pre-order from Rapido with a view to selling my older RS 11 models.
    Right... I now want (need?) to get some BN F units, GP9's and also GP7's.
    PS - As a Yorkshire man, I am glad to see the Yorkshire Tea - teapot and I cannot help but think that this tea/teapot is the secret of Rapido's success. I guess that the only way you could all improve things even further would be to start talking with a Yorkshire accent.
    PPS - the first exhibition / train show that my new RS11's will be performing at will actually be back in my home county of Yorkshire when we'll be taking my Kamiack Falls layout t(ua-cam.com/video/m4uSvOXm5Dw/v-deo.htmlsi=VO8M7HC2aDiX9KKko Barnsley from where I now live in London. I will be able to rejuvenate my Yorkshire accent. )

    Doggon, makes me think about moving my era up from ‘50 to ‘57 or so when RS-11’s prevalent on the N&W. I love Alco’s and the RS-11 as much as any, and they look great in N&W blue livery. This is a spectacular model, as we’ve come to expect from Rapido!

    Irv Athern gave the hobby it's biggest boost ever with his $7.00 F7 with hi-f drive. Funny how Athern locomotives were reasonably priced while made in Gardena and later Compton. Now the prices are outrageous.

    • @rapidotrains
      @rapidotrains  3 роки тому

      Keep in mind when the Hi-F drive appeared around 1957, minimum wage had just been raised to $1/hour, the price of gas was 24 cents per gallon, a brand new Chevrolet cost $2200 and a house could be had for about $12,000.

    Roadname-specific details are very important on all locomotives instead of generic versions of them with every roadname you can think of slapped on them. Glad to see that you guys and gals at Rapido Trains keep that as a priority with your Alco RS-11s like the Mars/gyro lights on the Southern Pacific RS-11s, the Hancock air whistles on the New York New Haven & Hartford RS-11s and radio antennas on the Pennsylvania Railroad RS-11s. I'm not sure if it would physically fit, but under the hood, I would've preferred a smoke unit because Alcos have always been known for their thick clouds of smoke they make and have even been dubbed as "steam locomotive impersonators". Also, in general, why is it that [just about] all of your locomotives don't have crew figures in the cab? That's essential for all steam locomotives and [leading] diesel locomotives to have a crew in them, don't want any ghost trains!

    • @rapidotrains
      @rapidotrains  5 років тому

      We produced figures once but then every locomotive had the same figures and every engine in the yard was fully crewed! So now we leave it to our customers to install the crew of their choice.

    I recently purchased Rapido Trains #31538 Southern Pacific Alco RS-11 #5725 DCC/Sound Engine, I read up on it before and it seemed perfect for my small layout yet it wasn't. It's sound and moment were amazing yet it couldn't navigate my code 83 track corners without retailing. Any ideas why this is a issue with this engine? I tried it on different sections with the same results, detailed.
