- Dan, Jason and Mohan test out the first samples of our new MLW M420 diesel locomotive featuring the new Rapido-TCS sound decoder. This was recorded on Phil Dehne's beautiful CN model railroad.
Order yours by August 17th, or ASAP if that date has passed: rapidotrains.c...
I really hope the opening door starts to show up more industry wide.
That would be cool!
@@rapidotrains are you guys thinking about remaking the Amtrak/Via Rail LRC locomotives?
Amazing detail the M420 is one of my favorite locomotives.
Thanks!
Very nicely done Sir!
Thank you Dan and Rapido!
Great work Rapido!!!
One of my favorite diesel locomotives.
👍
Got my 2 M420s this week. Runs well and has great detail. Thanks Rapido for another great model of yours! Looking forward to the next big project of yours, the cp RS18U.!
Thanks for the kind words! We should be seeing the first RS-18u samples soon!
@@rapidotrains Thanks for the update, just wondering if you have a timeframe for a second run of m420 in the cn 3500 series. You guys are really the best model makers! Between Rapido and Scale trains you own the market!
M420s and RSC-14s! I can hardly believe that I'll finally have the models I've wanted basically my whole life, thank you!
Awesome!
That’s the cleanest cab washroom I’ve ever seen. Great work chumps and chumpettes. Oh before I forget GP9rm, SW1200rm, SD40u, SD50F, and SD60F. Hint hint nudge nudge.
Thanks, and one thing at a time, eh?
rapidotrains
Yes, CN GP9RM’s for sure! And with the full strobe package to make it more fun eh?
There's a such thing as too much realism...... I certainly wouldn't want the realistic cab washroom smell......
Just bought my first Rapido Diesel Engine a MLW M420 Oil Creek & Titusville #3568 with ESU LOK Sound DCC in beautiful black & yellow paint. These Alco's in C420 M420 RS1 RSD4/5 RS27 ( RSD12 in Brass soon to be 3D Printed in plastic ) RSD15 C424 C425 and all the S version switchers, all of them are becoming my bestest HO Engines just because their plain ass cool. This MLW M420 is the best of the best man, and what I mean is the small details are out of this world accurate and really brings respect to the locomotive. It's truly a good time to be a model railroader, just good clean fun and good relations with most that are railroad hobbyists just like myself. Hat's off on such good products Rapido 👍 ⚡ 👍
Very nice. I loved the history about them as well. And the sound is awesome.
Thanks a lot!
Yall my #1im very happy yall made M420 / Dash8CM /F59 and Chopped nose RS-18u i been waiting for well all the Canadian Trains!! Hopefully SD60F/SD50F And HR 616
Thanks! We’ll consider those for the future.
Beautiful locomotive and has to be one of my favorites. She also sounds amazingly realistic.
Thank you very much!
Awesome video of a gorgeous engine and an amazing layout. Might have to order one of these, would really love a BC Rail paint scheme in the next run!
Thanks! You definitely need to order a CN one... 😁
Those look great! I also can't wait to try out those new decoders!
Thanks!
Heck of a job with those locos. I really like the TCS sound and am very excited about the upcoming PA1 project
Thanks!
I love your new HR director!
Thanks! We don't like him one bit.
now that is a first, That I have seen. you guys show what is in the poly bag and WHERE the parts go. so many times I get these small extra parts and no clue where they go.. have to say . Thank You for that .
very nice loco's for sure. reminds me of the Dash 8 that you did couple years back.
LOVE the open front door.. you can keep that kind of details up as well. brilliant.
Happy to be of service!
And thanks for the compliments!
super nice models!! glad I pre-ordered 4 ;) hahaha nice ending as always, love your videos!
Thanks! 😀
That M420 looks amazing!
Thanks! They certainly are sharp!
I’ve seen the open door feature on a lot of o scale locomotives, but this is the first time I’ve seen it on a ho scale locomotive, very nice.
Thanks!
Another great train keep up the good work rapido
Thanks, will do!
Great video boys, love your late 1960s dalek friend to stuff !
Thanks! That is a reproduction of one of the original Daleks from 1963.
I really like the M420 bell!
It's pretty sweet!
buenas noche muchas gracias por subir el video abrazo grande
👍
Looking forward to a possible M420CW 3500 series version with front/rear ditch lights hopefully...(?) fingers crossed
It's very possible!
At 7.12, that cow trackside appears to have fainted in disbelief of the level of detail and features ! :)
Must have been quite the shock!
Dave,l loved you as R2-D2 in Star Trek. 😉😉
😂
I like the sound decorder sound so realistic
Thanks!
Very nice looking track cars & train
Thank you!
Looks amazing! Cant wait for them to come in!
Thanks same here!
I'm reeeeeeally glad I ordered 2 of them now!!
Thanks!
Great loco, love the Zebra get up. Sounds as good as it looks, very nice indeed. Well put together video. O and Dave aswel. Haha. A Big Yorkshire cheers from me. Grant. Keep Safe ; )
Thanks Grant, appreciate the kind words! Stay safe!
After doing some thinking I’m gonna buy a M420! And later on a CV rs11 from you guys. Im modeling the Central Vermont in the late 70s and early 80s and i think both will be a excellent edition to my CV alco S4 and Atlas model of CV 3608.
Thanks, that would look cool to see!
As a IAIS modeler I think I speak for all of us here give us the M420R thank you
They're on our radar!
@@rapidotrains Ah just a suggestion since they are not too far off from the M420 and IAIS had them
Super video!!
Thank you very much!
Those C420s sound really good! Great job :-)
Thanks a lot!
@@rapidotrains Thank you and I really want one myself :-)
A most impressive model! I love all the details and sounds. I hope you consider making these in N scale somewhere down the road.
Thanks! We'll consider them for a future N scale project!
Great Job looks good to me these should sell out quick.
We hope so! 😎
I never thought about modeling any Canadian roads, but since I do model North Eastern American roads, this model has me thinking maybe I should consider seeing some foreign power make an appearance once in a while. Great looking and sounding loco!
Nothing wrong with a Canadian guest appearance!
Awesome model!
Thanks!
I definitely need an M420 in N scale painted for Providence & Worcester!
We'll consider it!
rapidotrains thank you!
Awesome product and video. Still waiting on my EP-5 though.
Thanks! The EP-5 has been a challenge with the motorized pantograph, but we should have an update soon!
Awesome locomotives!
Thank you very much!
I shall buy two of them.
This run is long sold out, but check out our latest announcement!
Sick!
Feel better! 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣
I did not know that there were some M420 in moncton in the past.
Yes they were based there!
I really like the bell sound as is. But you can hear it better than me.
We can be so persnickety!
M420CW’s!
Sweet!!
👍
GOOD model!!!
Thanks!
Now I know it is a long shot but it would be awesome if you guys produced the M420Ws used in Atomic Train.
Those were the BC Rail units, but we'd like to make them in the future! Licensing might be an issue for the Atomic train scheme.
@@rapidotrains I can imagine, but if it were possible, it would be really cool to model that runaway train and the pair of chase units.
Wow, great job guys, will you eventually be offering the P&W M420R version?
We will be considering it in the future!
I just love model trains since I can remember. And every time I revisit the notion of getting started I'm reminded how poor I am.
You don't need to start by buying new, high-end models. Most hobby shops have estate items or consignment items that you can purchase at a fraction of the original cost. It is worth shopping around. Please join us!
Awesome!! Hahaha nice ending scene 😂
Thanks for watching that long! 😁
Absolutely gorgeous,way to go Rapido.
And the lights,,,,omg.
Beautiful!
But still no Janet?
She will be returning before too long!
Hay rapido I love the M420 that you guys made and I was wondering if you guys are going to be making another M420 like this but BC RAIL she'll and shorter full tank if you can that wood be the most wanted thing that I wood won't to get if you can great if you can then ok
The BC units need a bunch of new tooling, but we're looking into it. 👍
@@rapidotrains thanks
Great Video! Hey, in the poly bag, could you please also include a 'Zobby Dobby BoBobby' action figure for the open door of the MLW M420? 😁
That sounds like a great idea! 😁
Throw in a Jason and Dan D figures also or maybe a Janet figure.
I'm buying two absolutely awesome wow 👊🏾✌🏽
Great! Thank you!
Will You Guys Be Doing Another Run Of The HO Scale CN/BCRAIL C40-8Ms? I Really Want To Get One Never Had A Chance To.
We'd like to before too long!
Dave the HR manager😆😂
🤣
an M420 was used to generate power In Coteau-Station after the Ice Storm of 1998
We remember that!
Yup...left grooves in the road as they rolled it off the rails and took it to the local community center if memory serves me correct
Me watching a he whole thing hoping to see the new announcement. But that model is 11/10
New announcements coming very soon!
Is your worker Mohan is from india
Of course!
Getting slightly closer to the Alco,MLW S-13/RS-23.
Slightly...
@@rapidotrains I'm still ordering at least a couple regardless.
6:29. Little inaccuracy. The horn is actually a Nathan K3L not a K3LA because a K3LA has a higher pitched 4a bell instead of a 3 bell which is on the loco TCS Wow recorded their sound from.
Thanks for the clarification!
Good Job, I have one on order. Its a sound M 420. I can not wait to get it on my layout Thank`s Rapido Trains.
Cool thanks!
Change the M to a C and you'd have a buyer. But awesome looking model, rubber MU hoses is a great addition
Thanks! And you want one of these to visit your Alco layout... 😁
OMG I think I need to come up there and try to kick somebody's butt!
I model n scale but this thing is insanely gorgeous. You are killing me with your Canadian AC front door option 🥰
Killer details, fellas.
Thanks a lot!
Three questions about the M420s.
Where they ever used in Alberta? If so where?
Are these the same engins used on the Kelowna Pacific in 2000?
The sound is pretty similar to the real M420 in Titusville. What happened to the speakers in the three models shown in this video?
Keep up the great work.
They weren't common out west, but the KP units were ex CN rebuilt 3500's. Generally the M420's stayed east on Winnipeg. Sound is from the M420 in Titusville!
@@rapidotrains thanks 😊
Mlw m420 six axial locomotive disign is very beautiful. not never old this disign and match new this time. We Sri Lanka. No available our country. Our country available m4 mlw m620 mx model.
👍
just a thought would it be interesting to have decoder sound cards for the cars as well
are have you thought opercation power control sysmtem in the furure see you were taken out idolation how many time have you been part in the freezer lol
loved this ending it was better the rideing out of the sunset lol
The decoders are quite expensive to add complex sounds to a car, but we are adding sound to the new Steam Genny: rapidotrains.com/products/ho-scale/passenger-cars/ho-scale-steam-heater-car
help....I bought this locomotive MLW M42 as DC system (Analog) and recently I bought a decoder loksound V5, I visited ESU website and downloaded sound files for that type of locomotive but for some reason no one of these files contains all the lights functions they appear on the guide or well it just doesn't work like that locomotive you buy with it preinstalled, so thats why I request your help for knowing where can I download that sound file
Love the bell! seriously! LOL
Jason loves E-bells so everything has a fan somewhere... 😆
Good model from a Top company. Is the Canadian safety cab on this model available as a spare part? I need several for fitting to some Dash 8 and Dash 9s that I wish to detail.
Thanks! The M420W cab isn't planned to be sold separately, but we will consider it in the future.
@@rapidotrains Thank you for your reply.
So dose the Doctor know about "Dave", also 10/10 plan on preordering
We hope so!
Any plans to make some HO scale BHP Billiton Iron Ore EMD SD70ACe's & GE AC6000 CW's
With all the details, name placards, window gaurds, prototypical lights and all the goodies?
No plans now but you never know!
Heres hoping Rapido then make the BCRail versions with the shorter fuel tanks
We'll be looking at the BC units in the next release!
I Want to purchase an Unpainted version, but i dont know how to take it apart to paint it, would you guys do videos on how to paint the unpainted locomotives you make?
Maybe one day!
The loop to end transition imo could use some work, it’s kinda choppy. Can’t wait to see what people will do with their own ESU Loksound 5 installs into the DCC ready versions, as TCS Wowsound aren’t necessarily everyone’s favorite
We'll look into that transition. But these are not Wowsound - they are a new decoder designed to Rapido's specs. We hope you'll give it a try.
rapidotrains Cool, good to know. I’ve always been wondering if the Rapido-TCS decoder has a very responsive horn instead of separate long and short horns. I was hoping these were also easy to MU with other ESU fitted locos
Very easy to MU with ESU. Did you watch our video about that? ua-cam.com/video/wau7KP-RIIQ/v-deo.html Also we checked with TCS and they told us the decoder on the video was a first "rough cut" and they have cleaned up the transitions a lot.
I was watching Atomic Train when this was uploaded. Coincidence? I think not. Those models are really nice looking. Keep it up, guys.
Cool, thanks! Great movie btw!
A friend of mine (deceased for a few years, and whom you know and did research with), we used to banter back and forth about doing an unnumbered unit of any locomotive that a particular railroad owned, as in this case, your CN M420. I truly believe an unnumbered unit would boost your sales quite dramatically. Along with the few numbered M420s, individuals and clubs would buy more of these engines and add to their M420 fleets. As long as they kept within the "b" and "c" classes of these engines, the handrails would be correct. If Rapido cast and separately sold the handrails for the earlier "a" class, then people would buy them too and number these units into the 1st class of these M420s as well. All I can see are more sales of these M420s for Rapido. The CN had 80 of them, why not ?? Just my 2 cents here. Thank you.
Thanks for your feedback, Steve. We will offer any of our locomotives unnumbered as long as we have orders in multiples of six. The factory won't do a smaller amount. We had to stop offering unnumbered on everything because we were only getting one or two orders per paint scheme and the factory refused to make such a small number. So I recommend going in with a buddy or two and ordering a six-pack of unnumbered units.
@@rapidotrains Thank you for your nice reply. Actually, I was thinking along the lines of Rapido offering the CN M420 in an unnumbered unit as well as the numbered ones. I guess the days of offering an unnumbered unit are long gone. Years ago, I took advantage of another company doing this (long before Rapido) and I ended up with a railroad's full compliment of a certain locomotive. Because many people model the CN, and with so many "b" and "c" class M420s the CN had, I just thought I'd mention the unnumbered units that you might consider adding to the release of these M420s. However, since you've mentioned CN fans being able to get up to a six-pack of unnumbered M420s, maybe you should pass this information on to distributors and through your website. .....get the word out. Maybe some CN modelers will take advantage of this particular offer. Thank you.
They look great, will you do a second run with ditchlights?
We'll be looking at doing the rebuilt 3500's in the future with ditch lights!
BCOL and West Rail ones please
Maybe in the future!
When you wanna like the video for feedback but the like amount is ur birthday lol 😂
It's a sign!
Nice model, but not knowing the M420, do these have dynamic brakes?
Yes, they do. And the sounds for them as well.
@@rapidotrains on the prototype where are the dynamic brake grids located?
I ordered 4 of them. Love them. Though when they were all on the default address of 0003 the headlights would work, but when i assigned them each their CV everything would work but the headlights. I hit 0 and nothing happens. I foyu could provide a solution that would be great, thanks!
Our warranty team doesn't monitor UA-cam comments, but if you send an email through our website contact form one the team will be in touch. Here's the link: rapidotrains.com/contact-us
Love the nose door and the doppler horn, but what's with the dead cow? No moo cow.
🤣
Where is your this train company ???🤔🤔🤔
We're in Canada
Ok
This needs 0 dislikes and 1000m likes!
Absolutely!
So with the decoder not being Wow Sound doesit function like a normal sound decoder? none of that "light mode, sound mode" stuff?
That's correct. It works almost exactly the same as our ESU-equipped engines.
Is there really that much of a difference in makers im fairly new to the hobby with h a medium budget
It all comes down to the details. Our models are at the higher end, but this hobby has something for almost any budget.
@@rapidotrains what’s rapido trains I’m guessing on the higher end budget
Please, oh please release this in N scale!
Hit up that product suggestion form!
Can you please do a bcrail variant it would be so cool!!
We'd like to in the future!
time to patch over the CN for SRNJ
That would look cool! If this run does well we will be looking at doing the 3500's in the future!
What's next, a Cyberman as your website designer?
We're working on it... 😆
Hay rapido is it possible to swich out the CN fuel tank with a BC short fuel tank? and can I take off the snow plow to?
We haven't tooled up the BC details yet, but we are considering it for the next release. Aside from the fuel tank and plow, the chassis needs all new tooling along with several other BC specific details.
oh OK because i gust got one of the M420 units and im trying to make it look like a BC unit
Is this the TCS Sound file or LokSound?
In this earlier video we were using the TCS sound file, but with the switch to ESU V5 decoders, production models are now using the ESU file.
Wait the M420s have TCS but the second run of rs11s have Lok sound?
Yes we are using ESU and TCS depending on the project.
I'LL TAKE YOU'RE ENTIRE STOCK!
Leave two for me
😁
Why is there not a BC Rail version?
The BC units were highly modified versions of the M420W and would need considerable retooling to be accurate. They are being considered for the future though!
When is delivery expected?
Should be first quarter next year, possibly as early as January.
Ditch lights for those of us who model modern day operations?
We'll be looking at that when we do the 3500 series M420W rebuilds.
