Pre 2016 and post 2016 GW are not even close to the same beast in terms of game design; you are coming in with preconceived bias from an ancient game with an ancient ruleset from designed from a company that was 1/10 its current size for an audience that wanted a game from the 90's era of gaming. Show me actual old world equivalents of "purple sun" or banner of the world dragon + walk forward" and then a discussion can happen. I cant work with "this outdated old game worked like this so this new game must to"...prove it. Like why do you think changes like the magic system being overhauled where overhauled in the first place? Even getting past all this why is it ok for you to condemn other people for how they want to play? No ones forcing you to play competitive. Finest Warhorses says you re-roll natural 1's on charge, flee and pursuit rolls BEFORE any necessary dice are discarded. I'm not sure the extra D6 from swiftstride is affected by this rule meaning you don't get to re-roll a 1 when adding a D6 for swiftstride. Since it's not actually a charge roll, just a bonus modifier and it's made AFTER any necessary dice are discarded.
You can't declare a 17" charge with a boar. 7 inch M, Max 6 range for charge roll, max 3 range for swiftstride. = 16 inch max charge range,( even though you could roll a 19)
Really enjoyable game, had a big grin on my face from you two having so much fun, nice to see not just competitive battles (fluff always wins hehe). Turn 3 questing knights vs boar boys, the orc bsb would of gotten 2 wounds through the questing knights armour save, one was armour bane so no save and one rolled a 5 when a 6 was needed (as they used their great weapons they dont get the bonus armour from their shields putting them at a 4+ armour save). Also I think you can only pursue/ over run an enemy once per turn, so they wouldn't of made contact with the chariot. Other than that extremely well done lads, enjoyed every minute of the battle.
i really like these handheld batreps. the static camera ones are not nearly as good. I know thats what everyone else does but the handheld bat reps are why i love MWG

The Orc's side of the board's terrain really messed them up. Funnelled into small areas, not able to get their chariots out. Bret's having a bunch of hills. Fun batrep though!
Sometimes the battlefields aren't fair! I enjoy the struggle of trying to make it work, we rolled up Battle for the Pass and knew it was going to be a struggle!
Hi Lukka, @ 53:02 you said monsters and chariots count closed order. For the life of me I can not find why. Could you or someone direct me to the page? I read close order and I only see it listing 2+ models getting the bonus.
It's under the "Lumbering" rule for Heavy Chariots + Monsters! I believe It mentions they get all of the rules of Closed Order even though they are a single model.

Just a normal quest into the Massif Orcal, killing Orcs for the crime of being Orcs. Also only the Reliquae has Blessing, regular Battle Pilgrims don't
No black orcs is ballsy, and the dice proved it too much. Also a narrow battlefield with all those cavalry also was just bad. The battle was against the orcs from the word go. Proved I will never leave without my black orcs. Even for fun battles. Without them the orcs just don’t work.
We knew it was going to be a struggle off the rip with that type of deployment, but sometimes the struggle is what you strive for! Now I do get to play WAY more games of this than the average player, so I definitely get a lot more wiggle room to mess around and try and get out of a tough position. All that matters is if the game was funny/enjoyable! Also the list couldn't allow for Black Orcs, Savage Orcs, or any type of Goblins. ONLY THE MEAN GREENZ

You can only Make Way into fighting ranks you are NOT a part of. So in this case, still in the same fighting rank and may only contribute one attack because he isn't in Base to Base with the enemy. You gotta make sure your character is a close to the center of the unit as possible!
It's large enough to work! It keeps the battle tighter, more action, less room to run. Though if you like trying to save points, it makes it more difficult. anything more than 2k and I would recommend 6x4'.
Orcs don't work without black orcs. Old animosity rules were less brutal, because you could play without them. Animosity was a 1/6 then 1/6 to have the terrible result and 1/6 for a good result. Now it's a 50/50 and if you charge successfully or not and you don't get a chance to use magic in the shooting phase.
Sure they work!! It's not always about being 100% efficient in every list, you have to carefully watch and see how very unfortunate that 2nd turn went! Very unlikely scenario for sure!
