You could fit it in! On the other hand, your entire army is LD6 at best, and starts taking panic tests if you lose 3 goblins. Which can then cause other LD6 units to panic. Which... well... You should try it!
I definitely prefer this style of filming dramatically to the hand held camera style that has been utilised previously. Please keep recording battle reports like this.
I’m really enjoying seeing both Matt and Dave getting their Old World on, it’s truly brilliant to see, especially with them both learning a newer “language” of gaming, almost making me regret thinking about returning to 40k although I have never been someone who follows the new fascination but I’m the person who wants everything always but thanks to Wayland Games I have received this week my 40k core rule book and just need to get painting to get to the tabletop with my Ork army and bring my WAAAGH 💥
45:00 yeah, putting fighting characters towards the center makes sense, but you still can't use those places unless you get rid of command group. The Aspiring Sorceror is put in an illegal spot as the unit is 6 wide so he can only be places within 1-2 spaces at each edge..
This is my favorite Old World battle report I have seen by anyone on youtube period and I have watched A LOT of them. Luka is a gem and the chemistry between Luka and Dave is perfect. Hope to see lots more of you two guys playing Old World!!!
Please keep the third-person perspective filming for these battles! Its much easier to watch. Thank you for making these videos. I love watching them while I work on my minis. Take care!
Will do! We’re liking the new format too. Massive shoutout to Play on Tabletop, Tabletop Titans, Tabletop Tactics. Vanguard Tactics, and Mountain Miniatures.
Could you use your charge movement to pivot away from the front of a unit -> move -> pivot into the flank, provided you have enough movement? Like Belakor might have been able to do at around 1:01:55. Or do you always have to take the shortest path to the enemy?
You have to wheel to maximise contact, but otherwise you move directly. However, the arc you charge into is determined at the start of the charge, so you wouldn't be able to sneak a flank this way anyway
Oh man Goblin Fanatics! I remember loving those models when I was first getting into the hobby (early 90’s) if I had ever collected Fantasy it would have been night goblins. Loved the flavor.
I just so happened to stumble upon a wiki page for Dragon-Ogres 2 days ago. They are a primordial species, who collectively made a deal with Chaos(mostly Tzeentch, it seems), to make them immortal (outside of combat), but at the cost of their fertility. They live only to fight, slumber for ages when not fighting, relish and are charged by lightning, and yearn for the end of the world at the hands of Chaos.
I don't know for sure where the term Shartak comes from, but I couldn't help but notice Shaggoth and Shartak are both just one letter off from Shoggoth and Shantak, and strongly suspect a connection.
At 39:00, when you pooped out the fanatics, shouldnt they have popped out and immediately done their movement before the dragon ogres made their charge move? Seems a bit odd that they got hit from the same fanatics twice in the same movement phase.
I think they are released within 3” of the unit in the command/strategy phase can’t remember what it’s called, they then move later in the movement phase during compulsory. It’s a different release than previous
Yes and no, they always move during a '(3) Compulsory Move' sub-phase, so in this instance they where released during Daves '(2) Charge' sub-phase, '(3) Compulsory moves' goes after (2) charges, so they pooped out within 3" during the (2) Charge sub-phase, the Dragon Ogres charged through them taking damage (and the Fanatics has to be moved the shortest distance through the Ogres once in base contact), then in Daves '(3) Compulsory move' sub-phase they moved their first time, direction chosen by Luka(?) 2D6. So everything checks out, they "moved" once, but thanks to Dave charging through them it looked like they moved twice due to the fact that the models _have_ to be moved through anything they touch. Hope I made some sense, though Lukas change of where they pooped out I would question, a mistake but I would not allow a redo of that since its in his favour.
The dragon ogres could have also wheeled more with that charge roll to avoid hitting so many fanatics. Moving the fanatics again afterwards was a bit poor form. If you roll high enough you can move to align more centrally.
You’d also move the full distance through for the charge then roll the damage. Fanatics landed on are then moved the shortest distance to side or behind unit to be out from under it.
@@Namehack They're meant to pop out during any Start of Turn sub-phase. Luka did mistime it slightly, but as that seems to have happened in part because Dave quickfired his Gaze of the Gods, I'd give it a pass

Mine just murdered about 150pts of my own army while dancing about the enemy knights! Each Night goblin character needs a unit of night goblins and VV each night goblin unit per character. 4 characters would need you to field 4 units.
Nope. You are mixing rules of night gobboz and black orcz there a bit. Each night gobbo character allows you to wield one mob of night gobbos, squigs, hoppers and manglers each, but characters themself don't need mobz etc to be wielded. That is the Da Boyz rule black orc characters and mobz have...
Since the oval cavalry bases are so much bigger than the rectangle ones we can’t do movement tray converters for them. We did, however, make base adapters which solve this problem: miniwargamingforge.com/collections/rank-and-flank-base-adapters
at 1:13:00, I think the spearmen would actually get to fight from the second rank. The Stepping Forward rule says: A model cannot fight during a phase in which it stepped forward "into the fighting rank." The second rank of spearmen are making supporting attacks, and they are NOT stepping into the fighting rank.
It was played right. Per Excess Casualties (pg 150), if the fighting rank takes more wounds than it has, the unit reduces any supporting attacks it has
@@jessepigram1039 Thanks! I had missed that since I was looking at the "We can't all fight" and "stepping forward" rules on pg 146. Hi, out of curiosity, why are the movement trays sold on the miniwargaming forge the wrong size? There's 2-3mm of slack in the design of every tray, the 30mm base at the front of a lance is slopping around in a 33mm spot, the 2nd rank is 63mm wide and the rear is 183mm. The lengths are different in that the front two ranks have 60mm but the rear rank has 63mm. The square trays are similar. It appears as if whoever has designed them hasn't calibrated their printers at all and rather than fix that they're designing around it so whenever someone else goes to print the files their models bases are sat in there slopping around with significant play. Because I can't imagine you're actually printing and sending products with such poor fitment. They're so bad, they're just the wrong size. it's way more than compensating for fitment.
either the fanatics is broken or something went wrong at 38, first D6 for running throu them without they die and then they can "charge" again 5 sek later throu the same unit. And dont they die if there movement stop inside a unit?
They now only die when they roll doubles for movement, or when they hit terrain that isn't a hill. They also die if they hit one another of course....if they roll well enough to kill one another!
