Overthinking Eurovision 2022: Serbia, "In Corpore Sano", Konstrakta

- We did the banana song so we definitely had to do this one. Bonus observation: Meghan Markle herself has struggled with mental health issues (even suicidal thoughts) and tried to hide them. So not only does Konstrakta have a troubled mind in a healthy body, but her celebrity hair idol does too.

Overthinking It subjects the popular culture to a level of scrutiny it probably doesn't deserve.
www.overthinkin...
Lyric 'Koja li je tajna zdrave kose Megan Markel', or in English - What's the secret to a healthy hair of Meghan Markel? - has literally nothing to do with Meghan Markel.
It paints clickbait tabloid titles about health, and how tabloids are swaying public thinking on what should be desirable, which no one can achieve. This causes serious mental issues in many.
The rest of the lyrics in that verse actually follow the analysis by tabloids, and their bullshitting game.
Btw those are her own words.
Second verse is 'relief bounce', or 'I don't really care' attitude about tabloid titles, it's relaxed, thinks nothing about it, body takes care about itself, and we enjoy life, and then - plot twist
I don't have medical insurance!
So the anxiety goes up because of that. And anxiety isn't good for the mental health. Which is kinda ironic that something that is meant to help you is causing you anxiety.
No need to explain the ending.
You nailed it.
Re the OP of the video, "the women" doesn't need help, the humanity does. "Her sickness?" What the f**k? You got some parts right, though.
As an artist her "heart" beats on her own (she's an individual thinker), but she's not covered with medical insurance which is ironic. She has a healthy mindset yet artists are not considered to be important to society. An artist CAN and HAS to be healthy 🥳
when Ive heard ths song I actually tought that Meghan Markel was a kind of shampoo. Only than I was told who she is and so on. I guess those tabloids dont work much on me.
I don't know who is Megan Markel :)) so this solved all problems :)))

Fun fact: Konstrakta is indeed a full graduated architect.
Fun fact: the irony in Konstrakta’s appearance at Eurovision is in the fact that she had no intention of going to Turin, but entered the Serbian national selection merely to promote her Triptih and In Corpore Sano was submitted only because it was the only one that fitted the Eurovision’s regulations about the 3-minute entry. She had no idea it would resonate so much with the public and was genuinely shocked when she won.
Yep, when they handed her the winning award she was like : 'How do I hold this? Where do I stand?' She wasn't expecting it at all
I think part of the appeal for the song is exactly that it's so obviously not designed for Eurovision :D
That’s really cool love it
It wasn't admitted just for that it was voted out by large majority compering tp others.
Рече ми неко да има снимак где, кад победи, каже
Шта ћу сад пичка ми материна
Very thoughtful. I think Konstrakta has a real chance to win.
Nah... Ukraine
Ukraine is winning, it's pointless this year, to be honest.
If there wasn't a war in Ukraine rn then maybe Konstrakta could've won. But politics will most likely be a deciding factor in who actually wins.
@@tainii-san5879 you were right!
She would have had that chance if politics did not come into play! What a shame!
🇷🇸❤❤❤🇪🇺 These is the best presentation of our Serbian song ! Thank you very much. You have 12 points from me ! Europe vote for Serbia. I wish you enjoy and good time in Belgrade in Serbia next year on Eurovision song contest !
There is no doubt that this song is a masterpiece ...
I wanted Konstrakta to win Eurovision. Of course the judges may decide whatever they politics want but in the end I think that her song is iconic and not only the topic applies to Europe.
Here in Mexico artists don't have health insurance either. If we have a health related issue, our options are:
a) If we have the money, we could pay for health insurance to a private company such as Metlife or GNP. Also we could not do that and go directly to a private doctor although if he/she is a good one they will charge a lot.
b) Go to a pharmacy in which they have a doctor (usually a recently graduated doctor, fresh out from med school), having an appointment and hope for the best. Sometimes these doctors are good, sometimes they aren't. Is basically a bet.
c) Die.
So yeah, Konstrukta's song was my favorite for so many reasons and I really wanted her to win although, in my humble opinion, I think she did in the public's eyes by getting a catchy song with a dark and deep meaning.
First real comment and analasys.
What you said is actually the real condition in so many developing countries... Including mine in Indonesia ... Yeah, the health care has been huge business here... And we are all left alone with nothing but constant worries about our health...
Just a casual reminder that Serbia won over Ukraine in 2007... because of politics. Most people are surprised to this day Dancing Lasha Tumbai didn't take first place... So yeah, with how Shum and Verka were let down before, at least Kalush won, even if TVORCHI came sixth thanks to judges deciding to award Sweden for no good reason.
I voted for Her. It was amazing. Second public result.
Konstrskta is a Geniuelly Woman !

Congratulations mate. You nailed the explanation. Genuinely surprised to see someone who is not a native Serbian speaker not just to understand the song but also discover its layers and hidden meanings. You did a hell of a job with research and presented everything in a clear and interesting manner. Awesome job!
Bravooo ! You nailed with explanation of (time will tell) Iconic , revolutionar Konstrakta's song on Eurovision 2022 !
Level above all in her own league .
I always connected her comment on the autonomic nervous system with the theme of health insurance, like "good thing my body functions on its own since I don't have health insurance."

LONG COMMENT
While this analysis is pretty spot on, I feel I have to add my two cents. I have found one more meaning behind this specific part of lyrics
"I don't have the (health) card*
Oh, so how will they monitor me (In the name of health)
and care about me (In the name of health)
An artist (she) is invisible (In the name of health)
You don't see me, it's magic (In the name of health)
An artist, she can be healthy
"
"The card" as is used in Serbian can at first imply a health insurance card given the overall theme of the song, but in everyday conversation it can also refer to a ruling political party membership card (hence only "card" and not "healthcare card - zdravstvena knjižica" as is more common actually; sidenote, oftentimes you'll hear people saying only "zdravstvena - healthcare" instead of "zdravstvena knjižica - healthcare card"). You might wonder at this point what the hell does a ruling political party have to do with an artist, but that may be because you don't live in Serbia. The ruling political party has overtaken every aspect of the state apparatus hence the institutions are now managed by regime installed individuals who may or may not be qualified for the positions they occupy but they manage the institutions as they are told. Cultural and art institutions are no exception. These are important in order to stifle any potential criticism of the said ruling party. Also, the state funds a lot of projects, so in order to thrive AND BE SEEN artists need to conform to written and unwritten rules of the game.
At this point, the following verses can be understood to be about ART in Serbia in general and not specifically one artist. The verse "Oh, so how will they monitor me (In the name of health)" uses the words "kako da me PRATE" which can also be translated as "how will they FOLLOW me?" and following in this case can mean following on social networks, followed by the media, being popular, being in the focus of the public (which is exactly what art like hers isn't!), and "care about me" - since we often care about celebrities and their lives (or at least the media does). An artist (like her) is invisible, and indeed she was until she won in Serbian Eurovision song contest. Her art makes people think, she points out the faults of the system and she is not alone, there are many artists who have to have "real" jobs in order to support themselves and their art. Art is practically invisible here, often not a primary source of income. And what does get media attention is often trashy display of nudity, commercially profitable and easily digestible pop/folk for example. A number of actors, for example, have decided to support the regime of Aleksandar Vučić and they can count on visibility and profit, but what we can get from them and their art projects will be a projection of what the government wants us to see and focus on (hint: it's not overwhelming corruption). With music artists it's even more obvious. A number of really popular singers openly sides with political figures accused of corruption, nepotism, sexual harrasment, etc. A profitable connection for both sides. In fact, the whole music scene in Serbia is overtaken by kitch and trashiness and the alternative scene (which in our region is considered to be everything that's not pop/folk covering mostly topics of love, cheating, partying, etc) practically doesn't exist as something that influences and shapes our culture and the generations growing up. Going back to the last verse in the portion that I cited, Konstrakta can be seen as a believer in something better than what we have and are unfairly overwhelmed with. An artist can be healthy. Art can be healthy. People asking the big questions and making cultures richer with their work deserve to be seen and listened to. This is also part of the reason why it resonated in Serbia so strongly, it is pretty revolutionary. And on a freaking NATIONAL TV no less! What a curveball to censorship!
A ray of light she was the evening she won and that's why her presence has taken the region by storm.
To anyone who's decided to read this, thank you. :)
Wow, you did an amazing job here. Thanks.
"Mekano" means "Soft" in Serbian, and it is mostly about spending life in a comfort zone... meaninglessly. :) But if we would stop and overthink every detail, we would need at least a few hours lol
Oh...I am impressed with this detailed observation. Best reaction I've ever seen. The man did a great job of explaining some of the layers of messages the song conveys. Well done sir for the reaction. Konstrakta brought a new wave in music. She fascinated and hypnotized the whole world, not only Europe!
Great song, great analysis.
Fantastic overthinking
when she says “dog and i” i feel like she may also be alluding to something else but i’m not sure
because:
pas i ja = dog and i
but
pasija = passion
Bravo!
And this is why this somg is a masterpiece! so much in it!
This isn't a song it's an IQ test. We'll just have to wait and see if Europe will pass it.
Please stop it! Some people just have different taste buds and maybe they like more easily digested, happy tralala-songs that they can dance to. Nothing wrong with that at all. Don't judge people, that speaks more about you rather than them!
@@nikolamal1855 i agree, although i personally think the song is brilliant. What bothers me is the lack of desire to delve deeper into it - the proud and deliberate lack of inclination towards intelectualism rather than the taste. But of course - to each their own!:)
@@TheZosjha I am a fan of the song myself but I feel tired of these kind of judgemental, simple minded comments that are being highly praised by almost everyone. They are shallow and unworthy of being in the comment section of this intellectual, classy song.
@@TheZosjhaI mean to bash and stamp people who thinks differently as idiots I don't think is a good start for waking up an interest. It instead sends chauvinistic, unmotivating antipathic vibes to wanting to listen to the song again. At least for me.
@@nikolamal1855 agreed. For me, the beauty of this song is also in the fact that it is not a finger pointing piece and its unpretencious in that sense. So it goes against its own sensibility to be judgmental towards those who simply dislike it. But fandom be fandom, its how things go these days:) Again, what bothers me is the other extreme too: being dismissive of it just because its not instantly accessible, while not even bothering to turn on the captions. Thats silly to me, but, to each their own. Cheers!

Verujem zdravom telu
Nisam očekivao ništa u telu
Ja sam u lošoj situaciji ( jako se zabavljam)
i think the blue is to look like she has a sick mind or dirty mind that needs to be cleaned lol
I dont think it refers only to women struggling to fix into beauty standards, men experience the same issue in this society, even though they arent mostly used to talk about it, and thats another point about our society! 😊

I don't know if you still read comments on older videos, but now that Konstrakta has entered the Serbian national contest for Eurovision this year, I would love for you to give this year's song "Novo, Bolje" a similar treatment regardless of whether it wins! It's a look at politics and consumer culture, specifically with an eye to the common tagline "new and improved", and concludes that these things are often neither new nor improved. She hammers the message home by echoing many of the staging elements used in her Eurovision performance of In Corpore Sano to suggest that even her own entry is neither new nor improved.
Occasionally I am reminded that being a Serb is not a bad thing in the sea of inaccurate information promulgated through the media for years. Objectively, this song is a piece of art, not for Eurosong. But, there was the chance to show it to the world. I DO NOT LIKE EUROSONG BUT this is wesome !!!
Its a shame Ukraine has to win this year. Konstrakta would be a perfect winner.
Vote for her! Number 24! In about an hour!

“ Invisible artist” does not deserve health insurance for some reason and can’t afford it (like Megan) so you got only hopes and you are left to pray 🙏🏻 for health.
You end up obsessing about physical health and losing mind slowly.
I admire her ability to tell us so much in just few lines.
Thank you for this breakdown, I agree with all of it!

*Човек објаснио 😊 здрава жена је лепа. Поздрав из 🇷🇸😘*
Amazing analysis! Kudos to you, respect 👍🏻
wow what great song
No one ever mentioned one of the main messages: all the restrictions related to the pandemic affected mental statement of people around the world. Washing hands was one of the main recommendations, masks, isolation, walking alone with a dog... and what all of that did to our mind? So many people got mentally sick of the isolation, so many being frightened of death and life in a world like ours nowadays... and who did all the restrictions upon all of us? No one wants to say that. And Konstrakta`s last sentence is> And what are we going to do now? That end opens a new topic even more depressing than the one she already said in her song.
👏
Wow! Nice job. Love this video ❤
Congratulations on understanding the details, which are very related to the noon of the former Yugoslavia. It is very complicated to understand even we do not understand some things, well taken out of the context of the song itself and the artist himself ;)
This was fascinating.
Excellent explanation of the lyrics of this song and the message it wants to get across..
Genius.
TIL Moroccan oil was a hair product company and not like, petrol
Moroccan Oil not happy lmaoooo I never realized
I think that she rather doesn't want to get insurance, because it's somewhat pointless. My mother has an insurance, and still isn't able to schedule a visit to a specialist, because it's just unwritten rule that you have to suffer, struggle and wait for months until being able to schedule it. Serbian health care system is heavily ruined by insane bureaucracy.
Comment you man give about Serbian song are pure true and the right way how to understand what about Konstrakta sing.
wooow bravo
There is a layer in the song about Latin as well: In the Roman Empire all kinds of artists are seen as one of the lowest things to be and be treated as such with bad pay, if at all. So the Latin reference can also be one to the way the Roman Empire viewed art.
Konstrakta❤️❤️❤️
Wow, wow, wow, you nailed it!

Konstrakta deserves to win.
The spleen is the opposite of hair, hair is much more important than the spleen in today's world.

I was never think that stranger can understand this song, but you nailed it.
Ma razumeju imenjace, samo se prave ;)
*foreigner
I do not think he nailed it. The Latin part is obviously a critique of politics towards Covid-19. Lockdowns, travel bans, scaring people by producing panic around Covid-19, mass testing, not allowing us to live freely and happily. Now it has stopped to some extent due to the war in Ukraine, but if you remember, when this song was written, it was constantly reported how many people were newly ill, how many died, how many were on a respirator ... Look now at what is happening in Shanghai. THIS is what is being talked about, it is criticized that so much emphasis in modern medicine and in science and society is placed on a healthy body, at the cost of a desperate mind, a sick mind, pressure on people, depression. They took away our normal life, happiness and well-being and our sanity for two years. I do not know why he did not mention it, whether because he did not understand or did not dare to say it. However, he did give some interesting views on the song's mesages that I did not grasp before (e.g. gender issues etc.).
"Stranger" zanci da niste poznanici, "foreigner" je neko ko ne zivi u tvojoj zemlji.
Bravo za Srpskog vojnika sa Solunskog fronta👏👏👏👏 i za komentar.
An actual artist in Eurovision. I'm loving what the contest it is becoming!
I said it for Go_A last year and I will say it now for Konstrakta - one of the most iconic performances/songs of the 21st century Eurovision. And you are one of the best ESC commentators, if not the best.
I couldn't agree more, both for Go_A and Konstrakta!
Voted for Go_A last year, ten times. Assumed that Måneskin would win, but wanted the incredible Shum to place as high as possible.
Go-A was amazing last year, and should have won. Constrakta this year is equally iconic.
And both of them were at 5th position! haha
Yesss… both have been my favs!
"Mekano" has nothing to do with work/life balance. Mekano means "soft", and in the song sense perfect translation would probably be "Limp". Chorus is "curse to "mekano"". The song is a triptih ending. First one: you live your mediocre life knowing about "more", but never experiencing, the second: you spend a lifetime obsessing on health and looks, but you mind is going paranoid, and finally the third song, condemns life spent in a comfort zone. Lyrics in "mekano" talk about discussions she's having at home, i.e about neolibarilism, about everyday work, where the point is that she is just living a life in mediocre comfort zone. "Curse the comfort zone" - that's what chorus of "mekano" translates and is the point of triptih.
Yass I wanted to point it out
thanks. The one song you'd want english translation for, they don't give it!
A small addition to the first one: The only things that you can truely expirience are those to which you have a deep relation. The ancestors, the place you have spent your childhood, where you are lving and where you will die. The cult status of the everlasting youth in contrast deprives you from the real expirience of life and its ending.
It is in some way work life balance but much more is repetitive events and what we really take as a lifestyle, applies to majority.
It's worth pointing out for the English speakers that 'umetnica' is not just an artist, but specifially a female artist.
Good point!
Sounds much better in Spanish than in English: artista tiene que ser sana
Linguistically, yes. Essentially, "the artist" is everyone.
@@michelasdisappointmentanda2304 estar works best in this context
@@wloonie they are talking about the word 'umetnica' which is translated to female artist. Male artist would be 'umetnik' in Serbian.
As someone who is also a Slav, there is one thing I picked up on in the first part of the song. Older generations here still cling desperately to natural health, remedies, the theory that you can see most ailments just by examining the body externally. Most of these theories, despite some being actually true (such as the liver one), come from a time long before professional healthcare was available and attainable. The pesky spots/enlarged spleen part give off a vibe of fixating on these old wives tales because if you do not notice it yourself, then without access to a doctor, no one will.
You are absolutely right. The same thing goes for Megan’s healthy hair. In Serbia, we use term “healthy” hair for beautiful and shiny hair. When you are not feeling well, your hair shows it by becoming dull and dry.
Serbian entry: A young woman, in her 40s, mother of two, with an actual University degree (Architecture) gets on the stage, blows everyone's mind, all while fully dressed and just sitting and washing hands. Empress.
From the song start till the end, all eyes are on her. And on top of that performance her song carries incredibly strong message about overwhelming "health" information every woman reads in magazines, promoted by celebrities and impact on one's mental health. She replicates compulsive behavior of all humanity: "Be healthy, be healthy, be healthy, be healthy..." and in the song finale twists famous Latin proverb pointing to a conclusion: "When your body becomes healthy, what about your mental health?"
All those magazines bring readers in a state of "health" paranoia, while your mind becomes sick, sad, desperate and frightened. Truly a masterpiece.
Song has so many layers that you can analyze for hours, from reverse Latin start, to powerful Latin ending, all packed in perfect theatrical delivery. This song is simply beyond Eurovision. It belongs in a museum.

And then Marina literally went out and brought the idea to new heights of utter nonsense. It's always easier to let others create for you. 🙂 Her "The artist is present" can be meaningful only as a psychological anti-art gimmick, in which those who understood the point actually didn't attend the performance - i.e. did not serve as the proof that people are so lonely and vulnerable that they need their idol or role model to "comfort" them in the absence of closer ones. Otherwise, as a straight-forward art it's nothing.
I translated her performance as mocking Marina. She does that in her songs, mocking absurdities of modern society. Listen to her song "Shaman", but you'll have to translate it, they didn't do it. It's really good song, as other two in "triptih".

The song was not made for Eurovision and she applied just to promote her art a little bit, but now it seems to me that it fits perfectly :)
@@overthinkingit it doesn;t matter anyways, Ukraine is wining, so that's that :D
Balkan has a history of trolling the Eurovision. Remember Rambo Amadeus?
I love the way she uses Latin to evoke Christianity, it conveys the idea that we're not simply obsessed with beauty, we worship it. Washing her hands could be interpreted as a ritual, an expression of her "faith".
Also, the way the backup singers wear the towels around their neck reminds me of a priest's stole.
An amazing song and an amazing staging
Thank you for this review!! I thought I was already a huge fan but I still learned a bit more about the song while watching this video, which is amazing. Everyone should see this before they make an opinion on the song, honestly.
Will Europe understand everything she was trying to express in this song? Who knows. But the only thing I know for sure and certain is that without a doubt, my 12 points go to Serbia. 🇷🇸
Hugs from Belgrade!
Not sure if anyone mentioned it here... Hand waving after hand clapping is the same thing in sign language, for the people who cannot hear - a silent applause.
As someone mentioned, “Mekano” is not about work-life balance, but again, you’re not aiming at that song so that’s ok, it may seem that way.
That one is about losing oneself and becoming a victim of a modern day life routine. Not a shadow under the moon, as she says, just a programmed machine coded with socially accepted instructions for work, play, self growth, relationships with others and satisfaction.
Thanks for this - we clearly didn't look too closely at Mekano and there's a lot in there!
Yeah, pretty much every konstrakta’s song is the train of thoughts that touches a lot of subjects, and can be interpreted in many different ways. :)
The songs are indeed multilayered, Nobl is also about the snobbery and faked pleasures... which is also something we see in Mekano... Wonderful artist!
Great analysis:) just wanted to add that throughout the whole song you can hear rhythm of a heartbeat (once you notice it, it cannot be unheard again).
Best and most detailed analysis of this song. Well done!
👏👏👏 Nothing more to say.. Bravo for this analysis!
I agree...
THE LINE
"On a bright summer day
My skirts on my body
My skirts, the dog and me
The two of us walk, count the steps
The skirt goes around my leg
We walk and that's it"
It actually refers to today’s stigma about people’s health and their activities as measured by smart watches and other technologies for counting our steps and calories. Ironic, but true. Such an amazing song. Pure art.
I'd rather say it is about calmness and happiness that comes from things we enjoy and don't overthink. The next lines are about having trust in her heart that it will go forward without her controlling it. Earlier she mentions the peripheral nervous system which is actually in charge of compulsive actions like the heart bit and is outside of the brain. It is rather about the happiness that is in accepting life as it is and the little things we start noticing after that.
@@RacoYes I agree. I don't think there's a hidden criticism about monitoring everything in that lyrics. Counting your steps (like from 1 to 10 and over again) can be soothing and meditative, just like counting your breaths.
I think, the verse "counting steps..." refers to the pandemic measures in the strict lockdown we had ,to go out and walk the dog out only near home and for short time just to see the outside of walls and to feel the nature, freedom n breath of fresh air , same goes for the pets. The pets were closed in appartmants as you can see in official video.
Add: walking dog out was limited in distance. As plus ,in NF performans, she's not washing her hands only when sings of it , as being satisfied.
@@fartreta counting steps... that's just OCD, which is usually associated with... compulsive hand washing.
Bravo for this amazingly precise and detailed analysis! It is just like that. Greetings from Serbia!
Jedna od boljih reakcija sve je objasnio
@@dejanstojanovic2813 da! 😊
This is pure art and tatal avantgarde.
Lyrics may seem a bit silly at first, they are actually dead serious. There are so many layers to the song and a lot of space for different interpretations:
The name of the song "In corpore sano" is in Latin and means "In a healthy body". It’s referring to the Latin saying "Mens sana in corpore sano" meaning "A healthy mind in a healthy body".
- First: What is the secret to Meghan Markle's healthy hair? This is a reference to modern society's obsession with beauty! That's what beauty magazines do/they create insecurities about your hair, skin, weight, etc., and then advertise products that promise to change that. That's what the second line of the song is about "I think that the secret is in deep hydration"
- Second: Konstrakta talks about how our skin and hair often signal some health issues, for example, liver and spleen problems. The reason she is thinking this is because she's worried about her own health, she can't visit a doctor for a check-up or get treatment because she doesn't have insurance, this is so important because independent artists in Serbia don't have health insurance.
- Third: Then we hear her saying how an artist must be healthy, a reference to Marina Abramovic’s (internationally known Serbian performance artist) performances called “Art must be pretty, an artist must be pretty” where she sits for hours combing her hair while repeating that cause she realized people focused a lot on her looks and her hair being messy and prioritized that over her art, and the reason she needs to be healthy is that she can't afford to get treatment.
- Fourth: the "Autonomic nervous system" part talks about how we don't need to control our own heartbeats. She describes how she walks her dog, on a beautiful summer day, her heart beats on its own, it doesn't need to get any better. She just puts her trust in her heart hoping it won't fail her (if it does fail her then that's it, the doctors won't help her and she made peace with that), and that's why she prays to God, "God give us health".
- Fifth: She then says "I DON'T HAVE THE HEALTH INSURANCE!" (Even with "free" health insurance we are still paying a lot for medications, fees, etc. We are always paying insurance through salaries, for both employed and unemployed, and if you don't have "free" health insurance, you are paying way more, which is a situation with independent artists in Serbia.)
- Sixth: Phrase "Boze zdravlja"/"God grant us health". This is a common saying, we use it all the time, and you will always hear people wishing other people good health (for their birthday, or really any holiday) because everything else (money, fame, love...) becomes meaningless if you are ill and in pain. She then says, the artist (she) is invisible, you can't see me, it's magic because she is invisible to health care, they won't treat her!
- Seventh: Now, last part, it's basically the old Latin saying: Mens sana in corpore sano (A healthy mind in a healthy body), except that Konstrakta makes it clear that only the body is healthy, the soul inside is desperate, we are all obsessed with improving our health, we try to eat better, be more active, take all those expensive drugs and supplements, but what about our mind?
Mens infirma in corpore sano - Weak mind in a healthy body
Animus tristis in corpore sano - A sad soul in a healthy body
Mens desperata in corpore sano - Desperate mind in a healthy body
Mens conterrita in corpore sano - A frightened mind in a healthy body
The endless chanting of the mantra about a healthy body is destroyed by enumerating the weaknesses of the mind and soul from which no health can be born. The final verse of the song "and what are we going to do now" is a jargon of common sense cold shower which was poured over the mass media propaganda about a healthy body without a healthy mind and soul, after making that clear she asks us - So what do we do now?
Now about the handwashing:
1) She is dressed in white, she symbolizes the health care system (she reminds us of a nurse for example) and she is washing her hands. Why? Because of covid? NO! It is a metaphor about how health care workers need to "wash their hands off" meaning clear their conscience when they refuse to treat you because you don't have insurance. Just like when Pontius Pilate washed his hands before the crucifixion of Jesus - he tried to clear his conscience and make it clear that he wasn't the one who killed Jesus - it was the Law. In the same way, many people in the government or in positions are washing their hands off and can't help you because of the Law.
2) People standing behind her can be priests that pray for her health and/or are getting ready for her to die.
Holy shit, you guys are usually good, but this video was genius. How did I not realize the connection between beautiful hair and morocanoil?!
She has a very eclectic and authentic style with elements from Marina Abramovic, Laurie Anderson and St. Vincent. It's one of the best things happened in Eurovision in my opinion. Too good to be true.
Konstrakta for the win 👑🏆🥇🏆👑
I can say just BRAVO! as a medical doctor and Konstrakta's fan.
The "heart beats on its own" lyric was interpreted by me as something different. Like, we are living in a life full of anxiety, we want to control everything on our lives, and how amazing is our autonomic nervous system that makes heart to beat on its own so we don't have to control that too.
I love the fact that everyone sees something different, yet we can all relate more or less to the central message of the song.
Incredible song and performance! So artistic ♥️
