Len Bacon has got to be one of the best and most entertaining drivers we’ve ever seen to date. On a good day, Len MIGHT go straight on 1 pass - but probably not. He’s notorious for drifting his way to the finish line at OVER 175 mph, and in less than 8 seconds. It’s something you need to see to believe. Lets not forget that he’s doing all of this with a 2-ROTOR power-plant..HOW AMAZING IS THAT! We love seeing rotary powered Rx-7’s and we love filming entertaining racing - thanks Len!

Unless he red lit or you can tell there is some mechanical problem with the staging beams then he had a fair win and chopped the tree.
Vette staged shallow. Broke the tires early, basically getting a rolling start before he passed the first beam on the pro tree. Street race with flashlights would have been called for jumping. Track race with pro trees he gets the W. Learn the difference
A perfect light will usually look like a red light if you aren't staged really far into the beams. He had a .048 reaction
I went frame by frame and I'm confident the orange corvette jumped the light, how was that not caught? You can pause the video at 8:24 and use the comma and period keys to look for yourself.

you see, in a DRAG RACE AT THE TRACK, the vette cut almost a perfect light.
refer to deep staging...that and nitrous cars can 60ft like nobody's business...
The rx7 driver never had a good light through out the whole video, just a fast car. He would have won that last race if he didn’t get treed by the vette. He needs to work on his reaction time.
i think i saw two "film frams" between the vette start time and his start time,, he did say he new he could improve the tree timing,, he just did not do it in time. could have been a much closer race.

My old 1991 RX7 used to launch kinda like that. My struts were blown, tires bald, control arms shot, and it would respond similarly but from 0 to 100mph it took like 68 seconds.
Same difference though.

There used to be a rotary shop across the street from me, it was an area of garages and gas stations. But the rotary guys were always working till ten at night, a lot of noise and smoke. There faces were always black, but smiling, no one ever called the cops out of respect. Those boys worked hard every day! RESPECT THE EFFORT!!

And I can see why most people enjoy rotary in a rotary car, like you said, it's a purist thing. But I don't think anyone should say that an rx7 SHOULD stay rotary.
