For those who don't know, this track was bought in January 2022 from the looooong time (since the 08s) Fields family owners, so this was from the first season's racing under the new ownership. Thus some of the changes noted. Thanks to the past and new owners for keeping this historic facility alive while tracks all over the country are dying off.
The 'it's OK it's just a racecar' hit me in the feels, I can only imagine the $, the time, the blood sweat and tears combined with the hopes of all hard work coming together lost in an instant
It's terrible. Mines got rearended and it destroyed me. Had i wrecked myself, i would have taken it way easier, but to not have a single say in the outcome hurts the worse. Sent me into hard drinking and just now getting back into the swing of things 3 years later.
@Karl with a K I used to work on a pit crew for a stock car, running 1/4mile, 1/2mile circuits. We were not wealthy. We lost money most years. It was fun, so we put everything we had into it. When a win comes, that is the tops, baby! But not all of 'em are richie riches. For sure. Some teams had the cash. But a lot of us were just full time mechanic garages, with a second full time hobby of racing.
It's all part of the game, can't handle the heat, get yo ass out the kitchen... Oh, and NEVER spend ALL your money building a car. Save 3 times what you spent on it for this exact type of shit.
That truck of his gets down and boogies on a track like that. Would love to see what it does with grip, but other then that I love how they help keep his dream alive. It's a wolf in sheep's skin right there, you wouldn't think it makes that much power but it do.

I grew up at Alton Dragway in Alton, Illinois where The Greek went 204 mph in 1960. I was a spectator and racer at Alton from 1963 (13 years old) to 1972. It also had a grass median between the lanes and until I watched this video, I had never seen another track with a grass median. Thanks for posting.
Yeah it kind of looks short to me because I remember back in the 70s maybe the '60s Lions drag strip and Long Beach California it was really long I would think that it's a little scary not too safe if something happens no breaks and your shoot breaks I don't know they got balls that's for sure

Makes me even more excited to finally work on and rebuild my great grandmother’s 1969 Chevelle Malibu sedan. That track looks crazy and fun! Great content as always, much love from Texas!
Sure, for 300 horsepower cars... Just about EVERY car on this track had WAY too much power to be on it. It's just silly to put a car on a surface that can't handle it. It's not "balls of steel", or anything to be proud of, it's just stupidity. But whatever, Darwin Award applicants will eventually remove themselves from the gene pool, and the sillyness will eventually cease.

Crazy racing! Took me 7 minutes to finally find the go light. Though it must be on the pole beside the track but then I finally saw the light on the starters head! Was fun to watch. Thanks
@@fenderfan8543 Thats not prep thats just from all the rubber from the tires from so many races. They're also only using water for the burnouts that's a concrete track so the tires wear down on the track to the point it looks like an asphalt.

An professional tracks literally take rubber tires and drag them on the surface to create the same look u see here.
I'm an old 70s era drag racer and been to a few tracks. The old tracks like Browns are slowly being sold and once they're gone they're gone forever. So it makes me smile seeing that Brown County sold and the new owner is doing the right thing making it a bit safer and more importantly preserving a classic American track and past time. These small tracks are where its at. Having raced plenty and now just watch, my old home track Island Dragway (1/4 miler) in NJ is still operating and you can get right up to the cars at the staging area and line up. Its where Garlits broke the 200mph barrier back in 1964. Seeing the cars go down that track well... Theres nothing else like it !!!
Love these videos, all the interactions you capture and interviews not just the racing. It all creates a story and involves the viewer in what's happening. Makes me feel like I'm there! As someone who doesn't normally like drag racing, your videos make me love drag racing!

Talk about nostalgia. I grew up about 10 miles from this track on the brown/johnson line, an you could hear the cars on wknds going all night, from our front porch. My only run there was in '97 on a '96 modified banshee, paul turner kit, and gradon pro/sudco 40mm pwk intake. Ran 108mph, starting in 2nd with barely enough time to powerband thru 6th before hitting the line. That was a 4 wheeler.. Incredibly short wavy 1/8th in powerful cars, hard to imagine. Thanks for memory fast-lane adventure!
That was really exciting. Sort of like Moto GP from the 80's. Super powerful two strokes with crazy riders and no traction control. Sliding and tank slapping all the way. This was a great event. Thanx for that great content.
Gotta say let’s give credit to how safe drag cars really are. I’ve seen 200mph wrecks on this channel and they walked away from it with mainly bumps and bruises.
It’s a beautiful place to have a drag strip. More people should build em like this. Don’t really need to much land for the strip more for parking lol but so many cool places you could stick em

There should be more pedaling strips like this. The sketchiness makes it that much more important to be in tune with how your car acts, your nerves under pressure and reaction time even when you think you’re in the clear.
Reminds me of the old 1/8 mile Sunset drag strip in SW Pa back in the 80s. Shutdown area was so rough street cars would have rear seats pop loose. Stopping a drag car with big slicks was a nightmare, you bounced all over the place. Probably best it eventually shut down. Most moved to racing on the 1/4 mile not far away in Ohio, forget it's original name but today it's known as Summit Raceway.

the dude who had the accident right after finishing the truck, u guys should keep up with him an his truck. his story is always something the will be considered inspirational by anyone who hears it so keep that guy in mind an try to work with them if they are up to it, that looks to be a pretty insane build an sounds like the guy knows what hes talking about.

You mean drag week? They were on both race weeks. With the 2 events so close together this year I'm not surprised they only went to one. Especially with one of them being ran and covered by the Motortrend group.
