⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ | Exploring the 'Brand New' Grand Central Madison Concourse | (February 3, 2023)

The Madison Concourse at Grand Central has opened for LIRR riders traveling to the east side of Manhattan for the first time! Beginning January 25, 2023, riders will have the option of using Long Island Rail Road services out of the east side of Manhattan rather than Penn Station for easier access to Metro North Rail Road trains and the (4), (5), (6), and (7) Subway lines. This new terminal, which started construction in 2008, was part of the East Side Access project that aimed to reduce travel times from and to Manhattan's East Side and to relieve congestion at Penn Station, the West Side station where all Manhattan-bound LIRR trains had terminated since 1910.
