MISA try to leave BAND-MAID before/after the 2016 Sakura-con, is a mistake. MISA was thinking of leaving the band at end of 2013 and early 2014 timeframe, and BAND-MAID had their first one-man (header-liner) show in February 2014, which the manager in article referenced.
I believe I did say that. Or I didn't. That happens to me sometimes. The original comment on the music video was what sent me down this path. That's how I ended up finding the other interviews. It's what made me think about what makes this band who they are.
Thank you for correcting the MISA/Seattle story I keep seeing in comments of Band-Maid reactions. If only more people were like you and went to the source to find out the actual information. Keep it up - great videos lately, sir!! Nice bass cover, too! Also, great amusing Simpsons anecdote...
I watch a lot of stuff from other music reactors and I gotta say I LOVE your style of making videos. Generally I get that little bit of that good parasocial feeling of listening to music with my friends from a regular reaction video, but this was something else. It feels like just hanging out and having fun with music. (Sorry if that sounded a bit creepy, I promise I'm not one of these weirdos that thinks the people he watches on the internet are their real friends 😅) I do appreciate this quite a bit. Thanks. I am also a big Faith No More fan as well. They (and all of Mike's projects really) shaped my music preferences way more than I realize probably.
As a subscriber of yours, I would like to thank you for your fun, thoughtful, analytical reactions to BAND-MAID (my #1). I need to start watching your reactions to other artists. Again, thank you, Yo Mota.
Before Yesterday was written by Hitoshi Okamoto. It's on Brand New Maid, along with Alone (as the last track), which was the first song that their management accepted from Kanami. Since then, I think it's been all Band-Maid writing, all the time.
The Japanese dub of the Simpsons is hilarious. Saiki watching the Simpsons and our fuwa fuwa rock princess trying to put cat sounds in BAND-MAID's music is priceless.
I've yet to see BAND-MAID in person, but Saiki has to be one of the most charismatic lead singers I've seen. Re: the SPICE interview where Kanami talked about adding meows to "Unleash!!!!!", you forgot to add this part: "Saiki: Well, Akane and Misa got a really big kick out of it anyway." 😂 These ladies are entertaining without even trying 😊
What's really impressive about Kanami is her backing tracks. Sometimes you notice them sometimes you don't. For instance on Band Maid Prime, the backing track for Influencer during Saiki's rap section is really wild. But they always fit the song and really contribute to that band maid sound
@@YoMota That video had 69 songs. I have collected pro-shot videos for everything I can get my hands on. I'm up to 102 unique arrangements (some have acoustic versions), and I'm still missing some real bangers like hide-and-seek, Unfair Game, Flying High, and others. There are about 110 truly unique songs, but with alternate arrangements (acoustic, Band-Maiko) there are easily 135 or more unique variants. On another note, "I Still Seek Revenge" from Unseen World is one of the best bass songs I've ever heard IMO. No non-bootleg video of it on YT, though. FYI that whole album has a scorebook along with a CD of all songs with no vocals. I think every single one makes a pretty good instrumental track.
Kanami is like a petite, Japanese, Oscar Peterson, she composes for the ensemble, often starting from an idea on piano and then working through ideas on her DAW until she can send music out to Misa and Akane for feedback. Everything is carefully considered, which is why everything sounds just right by the time we get to hear it. The fact that everyone has some (or a lot of) formal music training makes that creative communication happen on a very professional level.
This all started because I played guitar in my late teens, got my first bass a few years later. I never took lessons so all my pick-less play is self taught. I'm still trying to break some bad habits. Generally, I'm trying to copy what they are playing depending on the song. I prefer using my fingers.

The mix is perfect, the bass is just loud enough to highlight what you are playing without over powering the song.

I can't be correct in everything I say but I'm glad I got that one right!

Not at all! I appreciate you saying that.

And thank you for the kind words! It would help if I covered some other artists, I've been on a big BM kick lately.

Ya know I did mention it but I think I cut it for time...which sounds funny for a 25 minute video ^_^
Entertaining reaction. 👍
Thank you so much!
I want to see what Kanami could do with that Meowdulator pedal.
I didn't know that was a real thing. I had to use this janky one octave online keyboard for my bit. That would have been so much easier ^_^
Thank God Misa stayed. I just listened to her bassline in Smile and she really knows how to bass🕊️❄️🍌🥷🎸

Firstly. Well done with the bass cover!!
I think it would make MISA smile.
Maybe try "Alone" or "YOLO"?
I hope so. There is also a part of me that hopes these bassists never see it XD
FYI The video you referenced included nowhere near all of the BAND-Maid songs. Just a sampling of, I assume, some of his favorites.
Dang that is a lot of songs then.

I think the term you want for Saiki is gravitas.
Kanami describes it as her "Aura"
Ooo good word!
Yo Misa! You did this noice, good job Yo Mota.
Thank you!

That has to be the first Oscar Peterson reference made on this channel ^_^
I bet an album of the original demos from Kanami would sell nicely!
Have you always played with a pick? I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly but older video I saw you I think you were talking about it
