Might be the end yes. Some accounts i have seen have made 600+ comments with heavy misinformation and offensive spam (real old school posting the same comment over and over)on a single channel and reporting it does nothing.
The population certainly need to be educated to have critical thinking skills, the expectation that "facts" should be substantiated by evidence and reliable sources. Media should interrogate politicians and have an ethic which counters disinformation formation and misinformation.
Yes. Cos who gets to decide what's a lie? Was the Hunter laptop a Russian lie? Was the Chinese lab leak theory a racist lie? Was scepticism over the covid vaccines stopping all transmission a 'deniers'' lie? Off the top of my head, 3 'lies' that have transitioned, or are transitioning into truths. Who gets to decide what'sa lie? You are questioning the most fundamental principle of the West. Careful now.
"X" advertising revenues were down about 53% in 2023, and down about 5% in 2024 (est). Monthly Active Users (MAU) was flat going into 2024, but current MAU isn't known. The company is losing money and that will continue unless Musk steps aside or has a sudden realization that he's failing (almost zero chance). If fiscal trends continue at "X" and Truth Social, bankruptcy of one or both is likely which certainly be a positive sign that the Far Right movement is running out of gas.
Unfortunately advertisers tend to be woke, and they are swayed by pressure groups who push a left wing agenda whilst falsely claiming to be fighting bigotry.
I wonder are their losses down or up? Costs, if they shed most of the workforce must be hugely down, and it was losing money before musk 🤔 (asking as a neutral tech analyst)
And here lies one of the problems: as a private company, there is no visibility of any of this info. Musk can just lie about it and no one can prove otherwise
19:49 Well, even with a much lower user base, what many people are seeing, including me, it that the engagement is much higher on Bluesky because there's so much being manipulated on Twitter.
I too worked and retired from the Silicon Valley and had always admired Elon, at least until he had a falling out with the Democrats and bought Twitter in a huff, and publicly lost his mind. After stating he was not getting involved in the 2024 election or donating to either candidate, Elon put his thumb on the scale, donated over $100M that helped to elect a man to power who is anti-electric car and who doesn't even acknowledge the threat of climate change. From my perspective, out of anger with the Democrats: * Elon bit off his nose to spite his face. I am done with Elon Musk, view him as dangerous, and will do nothing to enrich him any further. Since the election, we put a sell order in for the rest of our TSLA stock. My plans to buy a Model Y have turned into plans to buy a Cadillac Lyriq I also deactivated my Twitter/X account and opened a BlueSky account.
of course a social media platform may have lots of subscribers but a better figure is how active are they. I have a twitter (X) account still but haven't used it for ages and now probably never will.
Its not a myth... because I trade stocks I have been looking into each platform and their total user numbers plus MAU (monthly active users) X has seen a pretty consistent decline in both those metrics since musk took over and went private with the company. In total, X has approximately 907.1 million unique visitors per month - down 3.25% from July 2024.
Depends on your finances . 1000$ in XAI213K is 4000 XAI213K if it goes to 50% of ath in 2024 thats a 600% gain. If it goes equal to ath . Its a 1200% gain.
I removed it from my main phone, just have it on the backup. Just joined Bluesky, a more pleasant experience. Not being pushed towards right wing filth.
This Assessment is such a silly superficial treatment. It completely ignores the impact of overt manipulation of the algorithm, the complete failure to moderate dissemination of explicit falsehoods, and a failure to control armies of bots. These bot armies were often controlled by state actors with explicit political objectives. The objective measure of loss of quality advertisers should not be discounted. This type of journalism is a waste of time exactly like reporting breathlessly someone saying it’s not raining while standing under an umbrella in the rain.
I left X long before going to BlueSky. It had become a Cesspool. And I’d really like to know the exact steps/history of the sex change process of his offspring.
I was never on Twitter. I used to read the tweets, but never joined. Eventually they stopped making it possible to read the tweets, unless you join. I am now in blue sky and I love it.
Like your interviewee, I’ve heard about people leaving and waited to see what would happen but I get nothing at all from Twitter (I use it so infrequently I never updated to X). Can’t stand Trump or MAGA nonsense, I used to like Elon but the more I learn about him, his values, his behaviour and now his political alignment, I decided to close my account due to lack of Trust that it’s a safe space to be.

before it went rotten, I used Twitter to follow my local emergency services - this gave immediate bushfire warnings and updates (important in rural australia), storm and flood warnings, etc. I also followed the prime minister and heads of the more important government depantments. I found their updates much more informative than the news - which mentions only a small minority of what they are doing. besides that I had my hobbies and interests - comedians, science communicators, gamers, photographers, etc. It was a really nice cultivated space. He's so cringe that he needs high engagement for his ego.
The algorithm rewards high engagement.
It's how he manipulates things like Tesla stock or elections
@@leyubar1 yt doesn't seem to care what posts comments.
Might be the end yes. Some accounts i have seen have made 600+ comments with heavy misinformation and offensive spam (real old school posting the same comment over and over)on a single channel and reporting it does nothing.
Never seems to have any effect.
This it expert has forgot how many social media sites have risen and disappeared into obscurity.
I agree that speech should be free;
But should lies also be free?
The population certainly need to be educated to have critical thinking skills, the expectation that "facts" should be substantiated by evidence and reliable sources. Media should interrogate politicians and have an ethic which counters disinformation formation and misinformation.
No. Definitely not... Thats why I left...
No, they should cost you.
@@alanseymour1252 where's my comment?
We all know that the difference between a super genius and a total idiot is just one small step. I believe Elon Musk has taken that step.
Given his roaring success helping trump, would it be fair to say you're in the minority?
@bryngilwern5766 It's not just about America you know. And even then, Trump's margin is hardly overwhelming.
@@bryngilwern5766 There's nothing like alienating half of your customer base, for more corporate welfare cheques, is there?
19:49 Well, even with a much lower user base, what many people are seeing, including me, it that the engagement is much higher on Bluesky because there's so much being manipulated on Twitter.
Myth or not, I switched and never going back.
I would stay to listen but I couldn’t get past the first minute. Going to hang out on BSKY. Far more interesting!
From my perspective, out of anger with the Democrats:
* Elon bit off his nose to spite his face.
I left XITTER and im not looking back
So many bots in these responses… it’s almost as if Elon wants to push his own agenda.
It’s exactly that!
That everyone is leaving x?
@@nicolasolton no. The bitcoin content
I feel that in this de-matured world, it's the people like Trump and Musk who now thrive.
From Twitter to X and moving to Zero. 😂
I think Danny Fortson may soon be surprised to find he's sitting on X chatting with bots.
I heard X was just a massive Russian Troll farm ??
That's about right 👍
Is not a myth, IS A FACT and we are taking X to the grave along with Tesla
Spending time on an app that makes you miserable is crazy. Bluesky is fun, while Twitter’s become a garbage fire.
Why would anyone wish to be in a toxic space like X ?
of course a social media platform may have lots of subscribers but a better figure is how active are they. I have a twitter (X) account still but haven't used it for ages and now probably never will.
I left Twitter when Musk took it over. I am a happy Bluesky user now.
I, for one, moved from X to Bluesky, Twitter was great before Musk, X was full of disinformation.
Myth?
Its not a myth... because I trade stocks I have been looking into each platform and their total user numbers plus MAU (monthly active users) X has seen a pretty consistent decline in both those metrics since musk took over and went private with the company.
In total, X has approximately 907.1 million unique visitors per month - down 3.25% from July 2024.
Depends on your finances . 1000$ in XAI213K is 4000 XAI213K if it goes to 50% of ath in 2024 thats a 600% gain. If it goes equal to ath . Its a 1200% gain.
Bot
@@ALT-vz3jn yup!
Umm, Elmo… your 30 day old bot fools absolutely nobody🖕🤣
Even UA-cam is borked by bots. 1.1k likes?
Explain?
Bots working overtime in the comments lol
I removed it from my main phone, just have it on the backup. Just joined Bluesky, a more pleasant experience. Not being pushed towards right wing filth.
Blue Skies from now on!
I do hope that Twitter/X'marketing department paid heavily for this blatant ad.
Seems to be going down the Xitter
I left X long before going to BlueSky. It had become a Cesspool.
And I’d really like to know the exact steps/history of the sex change process of his offspring.
Leon is America's most dangerous illegal immigrant
I quit twitter the day he took over and had no social media until recently when i started blue sky
Not a Myth
Just let for one reason .
Don’t mess with politics
When you doing car 🚗 business.,
You mess up the country.
There is a big difference between Zuckerberg's dislike and Elon's haterid.
This is why the eXodus will continue, and be larger than estimated.
I was never on Twitter. I used to read the tweets, but never joined. Eventually they stopped making it possible to read the tweets, unless you join. I am now in blue sky and I love it.
325,000 journalists left Xitter yesterday. The Kremlin and Saudi Arabia helped Musk buy the platform.
It's not a myth.
Just recently joining in on the fun with the XAI213K gang. Been liking the content, good job ☕️
Bot
What are you saying? Make sense!
Bluesky is SO much better than Twitter.
Elon Musk would not be so angry if the drain wasn't real.
In a move to become more honest, Twitter has been renamed to Twatter
Glad to be with bluesky,so much nicer,X and elon are toxic, what was with your title?.
Bluesky is a happy little echo chamber. No wonder you people never understand broader society. It's why Trump won. Enjoy your fantasy land.
Times radio should interview Renée DiResta and people should read her book. She's one of the social media researchers that were mentioned on this program. She understands the problems more deeply and has ideas to improve social media.
You could leave Twitter and replace it with... nothing, and just live your life being free! Just saying.
Wow how much is Elon paying you
I left X as soon as I heard Musk attacking Britain. And he isn't just attacking the government, he is attacking British values and you don't beat the British!!
The only kind of 'home' Twitter feels like now is a home for the criminally insane.
I left Xitter. The world is toxic enough without bathing in it.
So why use twitter in the first place , just give your real friends your phone number . X is no different than twitter just harder to post child abuse on there now and much less chance of being removed from there just because governments do not like a comment .
just call it the Xodus
Twitter was kind of fun, X is like an ex. nostalgia at best but sometimes ....
I am getting Musk-exhausted so anythng he is on about I avoid really.
It take times twitter take a year to increase from 6 to 75 million. At the current pace it would around may/june bluesky will hit 50million
I deleted my twitter account
Me too 👍
Hey Elon, why don't you come over to the UK and witness the "tyranical police state"? I don't see a policeman from one week to the next - we live in a totally calm, peaceful and mutually supportive community. So stop pronouncing about things you know NOTHING about.
Times Radio is getting noticeably more right wing so no surprise at their angle on this.
They also get accused of being left wing. Getting accused of being both is, at least to me, a sign they are striking the right balance.
Most people I know left Twitter at least 18 months ago.
People shouldn't go to social media for information. Therefore if you go to social media for social reasons you don't need to fear "misinformation".
before it went rotten, I used Twitter to follow my local emergency services - this gave immediate bushfire warnings and updates (important in rural australia), storm and flood warnings, etc.
I also followed the prime minister and heads of the more important government depantments. I found their updates much more informative than the news - which mentions only a small minority of what they are doing.
besides that I had my hobbies and interests - comedians, science communicators, gamers, photographers, etc.
It was a really nice cultivated space. I usually heard breaking nwes from twitter long before i came across it in othre media
It's not the type of platform that matters, it's the quality of information.
Except mis and disinformation work in a much more subtle way than that.
Elo Mr bluesky great song
There's a superb meme/cartoon of the beautiful & gentle Bluesky angel comforting a distraught, sobbing progressive guy and saying "There There! It'll be alright." 🤣
I left The Guardian and stopped voting Labour when they went-all in for identity politics, censorship, & Cancel Culture. I did NOT cry or post an insane meltdown video when I left.
So....the people on truth social are still on Twitter/X???
Got to love how X became the most used internet platform in both free and grossing by far
We are the media now
Facebook is different though... Most people use it to be in interest groups, or personal posting... not for news.. though political ads are there...
