The synthesizer Edgar is using is an ARP 2600. This model was the second offering from ARP (following up their first synth, the 2500) and was a direct answer by them to the original MOOG. The synth consisted of a giant console of sliders, knobs, and switches, and a keyboard connected to the console via a 1 or 2 foot long cable. After receiving his hand built ARP 2600, Edgar Winter replaced the 1 or 2 foot long cable with one about 20 to 30 feet and put a neck strap on the keyboard, thereby inventing what would come to be known as the "keytar". He is, in fact, the first musician to play a keyboard hanging around his neck. It is HIS invention! As Edgar manipulated the oscillators on the console, basically purposely de-stabilizing the synth and letting it run amok, the drummer would come up with a rhythm that matched the keyboard sounds. Incredible musicianship all around.
Every time a different reactor reacts to this I just have to watch again because it's so good!
My favourite band is Van Der Graaf Generator, and I would bet you've never heard of them, but I would be really intrigued to see your reactions to them. I recommend either Lemmings or Man-Erg from the Pawn Hearts album of 1971. Enjoy.
Organized chaos 👍 Brilliant reaction, you get Edgar 😵💫 Spread the love Brother 🐶😎🇺🇸
My older brother and sister were both listening to this when I was just a kid and I used to love it! Early to mid 70’s we’re awesome! Great reaction Turk, been missing you…😢😉
I went to see The Edgar Winter Group in 1973. We had heard the radio release and the longer album version of Frankenstein, but we were unprepared for this live version. Imagine it being played with professional lights and arena sound. Foghat was the opening act.
Thanks, enjoyed that.
“ Zen in the Art of archery”
It’s a great book, look it up.
I think you would benefit from its perspective.
This is the only song that I ever heard a bicycle horn being played in, along with the cowbell.
Its the creation of Frankenstein told by music
Some great musicianship on show, if you enjoyed this please check out Edgar Winter with his brother Johnny's live cover of Tobacco Road it's one heckmof an experience.
I've done that one. It was my first exposure to them
@@oldmanmetaldude I had a feeling you might have done when you said this was the 2nd viewing of Edgar, but I couldn't find it on your channel

I’m think you might have heard Edgar Winters song Free Ride before. Or maybe Rick Derringer’s (his guitar player) song Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo
