3:37 “good stop” that horse literally stoped in its tracks and her legs and feet went upward. I’m surprised she didn’t fall off. Also to harsh on the reins and bit.. I feel bad for the horse
I agree, she's very rough on the reigns. It looks like something a dressage rider would do, but I am one, and I let my horse do the dressage and I just ride. There's no need to always command a horse. Especially this roughly.
The person riding the horse should not be pulling so hard on the reins so much. It was giving the horse wrong cues. I think that’s why it looked like the horse was uncomfortable. It didn’t know what to do.
Hails Bails yeah but that’s how you stop a horse ,not that hard but you pull back and not all horses are trained to say woah (mine are) but her horse may not be.
I took lessons when I was a child and one of the things always drummed into my head was to be mindful of the bit in the horse's mouth. If I ever stopped a horse like that my teacher would have made me cry (and she did for much less lol)
"Good stop," More like an awful stop, She pulled on the reins too hard and leaned back way too far, and put her legs out too far. She almost did a sliding stop, which shes clearly not ready for...
I have some questions. 1. Where is her helmet? One of the first things you learn when riding is you NEVER ride without a helmet. She could have got badly hurt if she fell off. 2. YOU DONT GALLOP IN AN ARENA!! The horse could slip or fall. Also you need a lot of space to get a horse to gallop and to slow them down, so it is not suitable galloping in an arena. Please gallop in a field, or somewhere with lots of space. 4. Please be gentle while using reins. You only need a slight tug when directing a horse. And please remember horses are living animals and it must be very painful when you tug so hard, because the harder you tug the further the bit goes into there mouth. 5. Please learn to stop a horse properly. You nearly did a sliding stop which you are clearly not ready for. To stop a horse PROPERLY,, you sit and tug both reins slightly. I’m just asking to please respect the animal you are on as that is most important thing about riding. You have to remember that it is an animal with a mind of it’s own. Also please start wearing protective gear such as a helmet, and a body protector. Thanks if you’ve made it to the end xx
Yes I only canter in an arena and if I gallop it’s an accident it’s short and doesn’t happen often if I gallop I go outside and then I say canter at a canter track (not a road) and it’s up to the horse if it gallops or canters because when I say canter it means canter or gallop because usually at the canter track the horses gallop because they are excited
I 100% agree, I have never galloped but it’s so wrong to do it in a field and clearly she isn’t ready for horse riding and is so abusive and horse was doing litterly everything, and without a helmet?! I only canter in arenas.
1. Ikr i was like wheres her helmet snd clothes snd everything 2. Yeah at my arena it’s usually divided in half with two classes on each end so we only canter 3. The pull kinda made me stressed bc it literally pulls your entire mouth 4. The stop scared me a lot because the horse’s back legs kinda went forward and she looked like she was gonna fall 5. Idk i think it’s because they ride the western way or smt?
When you are stopping, gradually slow down don’t just yank it, as it looks like you are causing the horse discomfort. Instead go from a gallop into a canter, into rising trot then sitting trot, then continue into a walk and then stop so you aren’t stopping so suddenly. You will realise you aren’t constantly causing the horse as much discomfort this way and you aren’t halting so suddenly. It only takes around 15 to 30 seconds just to make sure you and you horse are comfortable and improve your riding.

Have you ever seen Ben Johnson ride? If you haven't, look up a video of him from the movie SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON. He was a very experienced rider, and he would pull harder on the reins than that when asking the horse to stop from a full gallop. ua-cam.com/video/SbjMT_ChTWU/v-deo.html

Not necessarily I mean the horse I used to ride would not stop even when trying to half hault. So you had to literally yank the rains to make him stop otherwise he'd just continue running around the arena like a mad man

Exactly! I have thrown out every excuse in the book not to wear one because it wasn't the western style. Times are changing. There really is no excuse to not wear one. Every time you sit on a horse you are a taking a risk. Why not decrease that risk a little?
Pulling on the reins whilst wanting to go into a transition, is confusing the horse which can lead to them throwing you off , bolting through discomfort. Be confident in what your asking from your horse and don’t change your mind last minute!
*Sara Squires* Well, unless they're a psychic, that's not really how it works. You could suggest they don't watch it _again,_ but they probably weren't going to, so it's a bit moot.
umm.. don't be rude. someone was sharing their opinion because this girl is 1. riding with too low stirrups 2. has no helmet 3. has bad form 4. her hair should be tied back and 5. she is wearing JEANS. so before you make a rude comment maybe think 😀
I dont think it is the bit... I think it is the fact her hands were like lead weights, yanking on the horse. No wonder why the horse was unhappy. Terrible rider, plus the transitions were terrible.
@@mikeoxlong4725 - You obviously know much more than I do, Ian, about lead hands and so forth. I haven't ridden in a long time, but this is painful to watch. Can't believe the narrator says "good stop" at the end. It is anything but.
When in a trot you don't pull your hands back towards your hips. That confuses the horse. You are using a tie down you have a bit in (bits aren't too bad when you know how to use them, which you don't.) you are using spurs, you made the horse go in reverse (with a bit in) don't pull your hands back so much when in reverse! That's hurts their horses face (even without a bit) that horse looks soooo uncomfortable. Spurs? Really? Spurs DO NOT HELP YOU MOVE THE HORSE!!!! It hurts the horse! Spurs can cause SERIOUS damage. SERIOUS DAMAGE!!!!!! Don't use spurs!! Anybody reading this. DONT USE SPURS!!! I think it's not different from abuse. Because it's like stabbing your horse every time you want to trot, canter, and gallop. Even a walk! I don't think you know how to take care of horses very well.
I half agree with you, I wear spurs all the time. But whether you should be using them all the time is a different story. If your horse is being stubborn and misbehaving, you can give a little spur. Spurs done hurt unless your really kickin em.
Mr. Vibes I don’t agree with that. I’ve seen serious damage with spurs. Traumatized horse because of them. Not trying to pick a fight with anyone. If your horse is miss behaving that much don’t use the spurs try a whip. I only use a whip for show jumping but give it a try if your horse is miss behaving to the point where you have to use spurs.
I had to stop watching for so many reasons. Where's her fucking helmet? I just don't understand why anyone would want to ride with your head unprotected like that. It's so dangerous!
i take issue with pretty much every aspect of this video but especially the fact that she had no helmet on and when reining back the horse, she didn’t ask it to go forward immediately after. she could end up training that horse to run backwards and it will be unrideable. be careful and mindful, this is a living thing
I'm speaking from experience, that's no way to stop a horse, it's extremely dangerous for the rider and can put the horse in a lot of pain. When trotting you're supposed to go up and down and as you transition into a canter, you're supposed to sink in your seat and must remain upright and tall. Your stirrups are too loose; when cantering go with the rhythm of the horse. Finally, when trying to preform a gallop, you must first ask the horse by holding your own weight, and in a position where you can move your arms backwards and forwards with the horses head movements. So like a jumping position, you need to balance out your weight. If you want to slow down from a gallop, sit back in your seat and slightly pull on your reins and your horse will slowly transition from gallop, canter, trot and walk until a complete stop.
1) she’s holding onto the reins too much 2) she’s not posting whilst trotting 3) she’s not wearing a helmet, one of the most important thing in horseback 4) her stirrups aren’t short enough
YeahNo Xcx Looks like you know nothing about western speed events and how you’re supposed to ride as a barrel racer, so please take your English educated riding opinions to a video of somebody riding English and until you ride as a barrel racer and learn what it’s like and how you train a barrel then you can come back and leave a comment. omg...I could be wrong but alongside the rough stops, is she even holding the reigns properly? That's probably why she has to stop like that; it looks like her hands are angled sideways instead of vertically.
Okay, she doesn't look able to control the horse to a calm, steady walk, the transition to the canter contains fast trot (which is wrong) and the stop was dangerous. Plus, I know that western riding has a different style and it is fine to keep the "cowboy- hat" style in competitions at least, but when you are training and, especially, you have a difficulty controling your horse WEAR A HELMET. What the trainer is doing is criminal
My horse’s canter is weird, I think. It may be just me, but his trot is fine. When he canters however, he seems to be crow-hopping, rearing, and limping at the same time. I don’t think it should be like that. Am I crazy or is my horse probably risking a potential injury?
I am so sorry but I just have to get this off my mind. (I have been riding for 8 years now, I’m 11) 1. When Trotting i saw that your daughter had her hands by her hips, this really confuses the horse. 2. You should not gallop in a closed area as the horse might slip. 3. When stopping I realized that she had her hands up really high, that causes lots of pressure on the horses mouth, also she pushed her heels down and legs forward, which is what you are supposed to do but your butt seemed really high and back. 4. Your horse looked very uncomfortable, I believe it’s because your reins were quite short as this causes the horses head to be pulled back. 5. Your stirrups seemed maybe just a little bit low. 6. Lastly, your daughters shoulders be pulled back a little bit more.
_Brookelyn_ Looks like you know nothing about western speed events and how you’re supposed to ride as a barrel racer, so please take your English educated riding opinions to a video of somebody riding English and until you ride as a barrel racer and learn what it’s like and how you train a barrel then you can come back and leave a comment. Gallop to a complete stop? Yikes 😬 😳 that’s like hitting the brakes on the highway 🛣 next time please gradually slow down . It was nice to see the 4 stages of horse movement but please be kind to the animal!
Pleeeaseee wear a helmet if you have one, it can be very very dangerous if you get thrown off your horse or you fall as you could fall onto your head or your horse may stand on it and this can cause many different problems with you health, PS I’m only saying this for you safety I don’t want you to get hurt please ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
GURL. nananananana. She needs to calm down with the horse. it's not the kids fault tho, these people could be teaching her how to properly you know.. ride one. She's not holding onto the reins properly, pulls on the reins to violently, she's bumping while trotting ect, uses SPURS, you know, those tiny little things behind your shoes that basically stab the horse to make a command? Galloping in an enclosed space, especially dangerous since she doesn't have a helmet. I can't see any praise going on. smh, poor horse has probably been through worse.

*Sara Squires* Well, unless they're a psychic, that's not really how it works. You could suggest they don't watch it _again,_ but they probably weren't going to, so it's a bit moot.
Sara Squires lol what.....don't watch it? This girl is ripping this horses face off. This is awful and she needs to go back to basics.
Well guess what I don’t like you
umm.. don't be rude. someone was sharing their opinion because this girl is 1. riding with too low stirrups 2. has no helmet 3. has bad form 4. her hair should be tied back and 5. she is wearing JEANS. so before you make a rude comment maybe think 😀
Something is wrong here. The rider is not smooth and the horse is very unhappy. What kind of bit is it wearing?
I dont think it is the bit... I think it is the fact her hands were like lead weights, yanking on the horse. No wonder why the horse was unhappy. Terrible rider, plus the transitions were terrible.
@@mikeoxlong4725 - You obviously know much more than I do, Ian, about lead hands and so forth. I haven't ridden in a long time, but this is painful to watch. Can't believe the narrator says "good stop" at the end. It is anything but.
This was the most disturbing thing for a person who rides horses to watch!,😭😭🤬🤬🤢🤢🤮
stop pulling back on the rains
mac loves to talk ya
I came here in a 6 years old vid to say the horse shouldn’t be stopped like that and sure its mouth is gone !
Why did you stop your horse like that?
That was a very sudden stop, the horse literally bounced
The horse shouldn't stop like that. You don't need to always be relying on the horses face.
You aren't supposed to actually jab with spurs you're just supposed to press them against the animal's skin if necessary and not very hard at that
Plot change: The girl is Bam Bam and the horse is Ally.
I had to stop watching for so many reasons. Where's her fucking helmet? I just don't understand why anyone would want to ride with your head unprotected like that. It's so dangerous!
Western riders sometimes don't wear helmets
I'm glad that mare was sold! I ride english and know that all that was so unnecessary!
i take issue with pretty much every aspect of this video but especially the fact that she had no helmet on and when reining back the horse, she didn’t ask it to go forward immediately after. she could end up training that horse to run backwards and it will be unrideable. be careful and mindful, this is a living thing
PREACH
The English riders looking at those stirrups 💀💀
the fact this video has more dislikes than she has followers 😍😌
If I did this in front of my trainer she'd kill me
does she need like longer reins or somthin?
wear a helmet girl
Keep your hands down and give the poor thing it's head sometimes
THE POOR HORSE! you shouldn't suddenly stop a horse from gallop to halt! all i can think of whilst watching is how much pain the horse is in
1) she’s holding onto the reins too much
2) she’s not posting whilst trotting
3) she’s not wearing a helmet, one of the most important thing in horseback
4) her stirrups aren’t short enough
YeahNo Xcx Looks like you know nothing about western speed events and how you’re supposed to ride as a barrel racer, so please take your English educated riding opinions to a video of somebody riding English and until you ride as a barrel racer and learn what it’s like and how you train a barrel then you can come back and leave a comment. Thanks and have a blessed day.
omg...I could be wrong but alongside the rough stops, is she even holding the reigns properly? That's probably why she has to stop like that; it looks like her hands are angled sideways instead of vertically.
The mother probably doesn’t know what she is doing.🙄
Exactly she needs to go to lessons and be taught by a professional instead of a clueless mum
This is just abuse you need skills to ride a horse, you obviously don’t have them
Thanks so much for the video. I was watching my usual old westerns on TV and wondered what the difference was between Canter and gallop.
AHHH NO HELMET
Very obedient. I liked the video 👍
The horse wasn't "very obedient"
He was forcefully forced to do everything here. His poor face was yanked off too.
She’s has to wear a helmet. Horses can get spooked and can be unpredictable
“Good stop”
I don’t think you are allowed to gallop in a arena ;-;
Bam Bam, what a name for a horse!
Unusual isn't it?
Do you have an insta? I got bored and made an edit of this
Her reins were awfully high
omg yes i was looking for a comment that said this!! I was thinking that the WHOLE TIME
My horse’s canter is weird, I think. It may be just me, but his trot is fine. When he canters however, he seems to be crow-hopping, rearing, and limping at the same time. I don’t think it should be like that. Am I crazy or is my horse probably risking a potential injury?
At my stable there’s a horse named bam bam that looks exactly like the horse she’s riding😂💕💕
Hopefully it is the same horse and your stable rescued it from this place!
“Reverse.” more like break the horses ankles
that horse looks really uncomfortable and tense, is there times where shes relaxed and on a long rein?
She shouldn’t be trying to show other people how to ride when she can’t herself

Where is your hat?! I fell off whilst riding the other day and without my hat I could have suffered bad injuries! I’d loosen up on the reigns too
I ride a horse called Sammy who is very lazy I usually have to use a whip on him do you have any tips for slow, lazy horses?
As soon as you get a whip on him he's lovely and quick and goes into Walk, Trot and Canter very quickly (I haven't galloped him yet)
MandaPandization are you from PETA or something!?!?. That's what horses are meant to do! I am honestly going insane from your post
Oh so you can just say "well horses do that, that's what they're for!" NO THEYRE NOT! THEY WERE BORN FREE, NOT TO BE BROKEN BY HUMANS! THERES NO WILD HORSES LEFT BECAUSE OF US!
Does the horse understand the commands to trot walk etc? How does the horse know when to change gaits?
Did they cool down the horse
And did u see the way she pulled to stop that horse
October 7 is my birthday!!!! btw i know how to trot in horse but thats i know how to do but im learning how to center soon of horse back riding!!! :)
If there is a kindergarten for horse riding basic send the instructor to it pls
GURL. nananananana.

Poor horse..
Pulling reins to hard aswell
Just giving some tips, she should try a posting trot to help the horse move, she should also not have her reins so short! :)
She did post, but it was so bad you couldn’t tell
@@ellagrace149 lol I posted this a long time ago when I thought I knew a lot about horses but didnt
@@Evie_horsey oh lol
This is not gallop this is fast canter 😝
This is Awful I’ve been riding for two months and I can do better than that
Horse must be confused and irritated.. So many signals all together 😂
Thanks -- this is just what I was looking for!
Thanks!
No hate buuut, when you're stopping a horse instead of ripping its face off and pulling the reins you should just squeeze your fists and squeeze the saddle/horse with your knees !
October 7 is my bday also cool video
You need to wear your hat! Especially when cantering and galloping!
The way she stopped the horse disgusts me. No hate but... yea.
No hat? Anything can happen while your riding...
