MOTORBIKE TPMS DIGITAL TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM REVIEW

  • Digital tyre (tire) pressure monitoring systems have become built in on some of the latest vehicles out there including motorbikes. But here is a review and accuracy test on an aftermarket version from www.australiandirect.com.au ...... with the help of Bob Jane T-Marts at Alberton in South Australia I managed to test the accuracy with their calibrated system, comparing the digital with a mechanical version from TJM. Keeping your two wheels rubbered up correctly is imperative to your safety and riding pleasure. Have a watch and see what results we get. Don't forget to like, comment and/or subscribe. CHEERS for watching.
    24/7/19 An update ..... which I think is worth doing if any positive or negative info comes to light after a period of time using a product that has been previously reviewed. I charged this at installation, now seven weeks on and the unit still appears to have a full charge. I still love the product and the features and benefits have made it superb value. I've now got a solar powered version on my Toyota Hilux and am delighted with that also. It crossed my mind for people towing camper trailers or caravans that these could be a serious consideration to monitor their tyres on them too. From my experience these work at some distance from the sensors so there's no reason why the motorbike one couldn't also be used for that application.

    Pretty thorough ... these are a bit old school now, but just saw this was a 4 year old review! For those considering these TPMS things, they're not really any use for tubed tyres, they won't really help because if you puncture with a tube, your air will be gone just as quick as any sensor would tell you. Great for tubeless because a lot of punctures will be 'slow' leak and you get a warning from the sensor.

      Yes, this was on a F800GS Beemer so I had tubeless.

    Battery replacement is the CR1632 Good to keep spare for the tyre sender units.

    This looks great. One question: Will the dust caps work if you have right angle valve stems? My bike has right angle stems and they come pretty close to the rim - and those caps look a bit bulky.

    • @TheRiderGuider
      @TheRiderGuider  4 роки тому

      +The 333 they’ll work but what I’ll do is measure them so you can compare the size to the rim to see if the fit.

      Ryan TSOI Hi Ryan 👍🏼 I got mine from AusDirect but they don’t appear to have any stock just now. Check out this link
      www.sharkleathers.com.au/shark-tyre-pressure-monitoring-system?gclid=CjwKCAjw_LL2BRAkEiwAv2Y3SfHiphNehGO-3cIfxp0GUbo3yHZguL8z5KrkOUtOoQLpNaxF162b_hoCIWoQAvD_BwE however this for me is about $30 too expensive. Search Motorbike TPMS on eBay and I reckon you’ll find the same one cheaper 👍🏼😉 scroll down when the page opens ⬇️

      No mate, in fact my TPMS sold with the bike. I now run a bike with tubes so the TPMS is not as useful. If I get a puncture now my tyre is pretty much flat quickly.

      @@marshall3498 I actually haven't installed the locking nuts to my sensors, I'm not going off road and hammering the bike so don't feel them necessary, they fit and stay on fine, I think the locking nuts are just for theft prevention and I'd be very surprised if anyone even spotted the valve sensors were different to standard. This morning I can't find my nuts (LOL) however if I remember rightly I think they were 14mm.

      Hi Cody. thanks for watching/commenting. I sold the GS to one of my best mates (Rich) and I'm kicking myself because I left it on the bike for him and haven't replaced it yet! When I get a second I'll be re-ordering. He's still using it as I instilled in to him the importance of keeping his pressures correct especially as he goes enduro riding) ... it's still working, still looks the same as far as I'm aware. Unfortunately the original supplier doesn't supply them now due to the fact they're all over eBay and no longer as profitable for them. www.ebay.com.au/itm/153942660528 ... off to order my new one now!

    Do you need to balance the wheels after installing these?

    • @TheRiderGuider
      @TheRiderGuider  Рік тому +1

      Hi Liam, not the first to ask this, in my case I had no adverse effects by fitting them so for me I didn't bother, they hardly weigh anything at all. Not something I'd purposely get done until I next changed a tyre. What bike are you riding?

    • @liamhenning
      @liamhenning Рік тому

      @@TheRiderGuider I installed mine today. Will head out for a ride later this afternoon and see how they are. Pressures are spot on so that’s confidence inspiring. I’m riding a Honda Africa Twin. There’s a good chance I carry more mud on a tyre than the TPMS weighs to be honest.
