The only true statement about what saw is the best is the one that the operator thinks is the best is the best for them , stihl husky and echo are all fantastic saws , I personally like husky and echo and don’t like stihl but I’ll never tell someone that the saw they like is any less good than the one i like especially if we’re doing the same work with them . It’s as simple as whatever saw you like is the one that’s going to work the best for , there is simply no way to quantify one As inherently better than the others it’s the differences in cut time between my husky 562 and my echo 620 is so negligible that it doesn’t even matter in a real world setting but my 620 definitely handles a larger bar better than the 562 but does that mean it’s a better saw …. No they get the same amount of work done in a day simple as that if you show me 2 saws in the same class that have difference in cut time of 10 seconds or more then that will actually make a difference in the amount of work you can get done with it in a day but when the difference is under 2-3 seconds it’s really not making a difference in what you can do with it
I'm not a Stihl fanboy but did grow up running Stihl saws. I have not run much of the newest Stihl saws. I do think the 500i is a tremendous saw. That said, it's not a tremendous saw because it's a lightsaber. It's a tremendous saw because it's got quite easily the most power for it's weight and that's a huge deal to people who run saws for a living. I feel like they have gained a reputation as a saw that gains quite a lot of power after a good break in period. But to run pretty close to a ported 70cc saw and weigh as much as a wrap handle 60cc saw while having 80cc torque is impressive. Even mildly ported 70cc saws are tremendous saws. In wood smaller than say 20 or 24" nothing will cut faster without mods. But no, I'm not saying the 500i is the fastest saw out there, but it may be the best saw for lugging around the woods falling trees due to its lower weight without giving up a lot of power to reduce weight.
Been gone from UA-cam for a minute, came back and jumped into one of my favorite channels… The Novice Lumberjack! Love watching the Husqy’s do their thing. Want to give a shout-out to Boedy Pennington for his kind words about The Novice Lumberjack! 🤣🤣🤣👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
advanced the spark on the 590 6 degrees almost as good as replacing the coil with a 620 coil( 620 coil has a higher rpm limit it has 6 degree spark Advance) also modified the carburetor and muffler next thing I'm going to do is port and base gasket delete
I used to be a Stihl fanboy until I built a husky 372 big bore. I really like Husqvarna saws now. I put that up against my ms 660 they are close. But for weight I use the husky 372 for felling
Iam so lucky. I just picked up a wild thing for dirt cheap. I stopped by a road sale pss pouring rain trying to help the guy get his stuff put up and he sold me the saw for $7.00 US.
Went to an auto parts store once and asked for a couple chips to convert a couple of saws to electronic ignition. They asked me what kind of saw. I said it don't matter. This guy laughs and tells me that there's no ignition parts that interchange between different saws. I said that there was. He said I didn't know what I was talking about. He really came undone when I said it could also be used on lawnmowers, and some motorcycles. He felt pretty lame when I proved him wrong.
With you on that one Boedy. Definitely makes a guy laugh. Just like. Chevrolet, Ford, or maybe Dodge ( Cough cough Chrysler) 🤣 me being as young as I am the local stihl dealer here had know idea stihl made a 038. He asked how would a lower hp/torque saw out cut a higher hp/ torque saw. My only response was how the chain is sharpened. Answer that for me because I'd like to know as they only know the computer. 🤔🤫
Funny story:i was.in the local.pawn shop.a.couple.days ago.told a guy looking at guns that chainsaws are my thing.he says oh.i just bought a new saw.a srihl 311.my mouth bursts out oh im sorry.lol
Why I giggle when people say but but a ported 4910 beat a stock 60cc saw lol. Well a muffler moded 550xp should beat a stock 60cc in small wood so what. Lol. Good vidja buddy.
500i is the fuel injected and the latest greatest in technology yet still uses a $hit filter setup. It’s like a million dollars in a 10 cent purse. I couldn’t believe that’s the best Stihl could do on that.
Do you mean shit as in doesn’t seal properly, I wasn’t happy with mine but I rectified it easily. Yes I know you shouldn’t have to but what’s the alternative. Filter on my nearly 10 year old ms362 is the best setup I’ve seen.
The worst thing about Stihl is their fanboys. Their excuses for why their brand didn't win against a different brand are always hilarious and limitless. LOL
lol, this funny. Stihl guy complaining about a defeat. The 500i only costs about $1,600, is a brand new design, larger displacement, and get this... fuel injection. Dollar for dollar, the Stihl got beat by an old, used, Husqvarna. Stihl fanboys are the worst. Common sense, guy. Get some. I can't put it up against a modern, 79cc, fuel injected saw from any of the other brands because guess what...there aren't any. This was a well suited race, you are just butt hurt because your favorite saw got beat by an old Husky. Cry me a river.
@@novicelumberjack not butt hurt at all just race a stock for stock to have a fair race… put a port on that 500i and we know what will happen. I like your channel but man you just kind of came off as an asshole
@@HairlipButcher I get it. But...do you get what I'm saying? The 500i has 79cc. The 500i has fuel injection. The 500i costs $1,500. What is the point of the 500i? Light weight? So is the 372xp OE. Power? It was just whooped by an old saw. Porting costs extra...yep, still hundreds of dollars cheaper than a 500i. Like...I got my Jonsered 2171 for just over $400. I can have a reputable porter to port it for $300. I now have a $700 saw that is stronger, faster, will last longer, and that I can work on without hooking a computer up to it...for less than half the cost of the 500i. If the 500i was even $1,000, I would own one. They are really nice. Just too dang expensive for no good reason. They are also gas hogs. Maybe someday I'll do a video of how Stihl convinced the US they where the only professional saws. It's very interesting and brilliant. They make some really good saws, but what they are best at, is marketing.
