FJR1300 THE, perfect machine. Ridden looooooads of bike but the FJR has to be my favourite. The shear power & torque are stunning and the braking and suspension beautifully balanced. The ease in adjusting the preload and adjustable screen, not to mention the protection from the elements. A bike that eats miles and delivers rider and pillion effortlessly

I’m in the U.S. and still have my 2006 AE version. This is the U.S. version of the AS model sold in Europe, with heated grips and the YCC-S electronic shift. I think these were sold here only from 2006 - 2009. I’ve added the following mods:
    - Yamaha 39L top case
    - MC Cruise full electronic cruise control
    - Garmin 595LM GPS with TPMS (replaced rubber valve stems with metal stems)
    - Sargent seat
    - Rifle +5 tall +3 wide windshield
    - Givi UT810 25L TankLocked tank bag
The Rifle windshield is big and ugly, but it definitely keeps the wind noise out of my helmet on long trips. If I were to do it again, I might try the CalSci, which would be somewhere between the short OEM screen and the Rifle barn door. An FJR is equally capable of pulling your arms off on acceleration and also still being comfortable 200 miles later.

thanks for sharing. I had my mindset on a BMW 1250 RT or K1600 but observed that they vibrated quite a bit and the reliability factor was considered. I have decided on the FJR 1300 and prefer the price, reliability, less vibration, and lack of clunkiness when shifting. Great vlog! thank you!

I knew this was bike for me after the first roundabout on a test ride from the dealer. I have tried one different screen so far which was rubbish. Will try the Givi. Just waiting to get my gearbox done under recall. Much better than the RT which I had several issues with. Have added the MV bar riser from Germany as my back was killing me but not any more. Also added the 32 amp Thunderbox for electrical accessories, saves so much work on wiring. Keep posting and ride safe.

I haven't ridden such a thing for fifty years, when I had my bright yellow Puch VS50 moped in my teens. Unfortunately I got taken off it by an artic trailer trying to overtake me on a country road and I ended up flying through the air for 60 feet. Still got the scars to prove it :-( If I was to start motor biking again though, the Yamaha FJR1300 would be a dream bike to own, it looks fantastic. Be safe out there matey boy!!!

Those Yamaha tipover wings are rather soft. I have them and have "tested them" with an unexpected low speed drop. They'll protect the bike if you drop it in the garage but at any more than about 5 mph they'll bend, yes bend upwards, and you'll end up with damage to the fairing.
I also have the Yamaha Top Box and you're right, it is beautiful. Remember that *all* the Yamaha rear racks are rated at 11 kg and a maximum of 80 mph / 130 kph. The Top Box weighs about half of that so you'll end up just putting waterproofs or the like in it. Heavy items must go in the panniers.

Then we can ride the Atlantic!
My problem was I was searching for 2020 accessories. Our model is so new that they haven’t caught up yet. But the 2019 stuff is the same. I found the official Yamaha site with everything. I subscribed to your channel btw. I love games as well. I haven’t tried VR yet. Does it work on most games like Arma 3 besides flight games?
Check my channel. It just has a few old vids with my first motorcycle. A 2008 GSX 650f. I bought her in ‘09. Watch the video titled Nut job on 285 and tell me what ya think, lol. My FJR is my second motorcycle in my life. She takes second place to BMW in the sport touring category according to motorcyclist magazine, and that says A LOT! Do you have STEAM? If so, maybe we could hook up and talk. I also have a Discord channel. If you like. No pressure bud, if not it is cool and I understand.
Anyway, I am babbling, sorry. Look forward to hearing from you.
      John

@@comcastjohn Sure thing I'll check out your channel! My FJR is a 2017 model, I nearly went brand new but got a sweet deal on this one. I'd recommend getting a Rift S, it's a brilliant headset for gaming as well as flight sims. Cheers and thanks again for the sub!

Your write up here is very interesting. I had the same FJR (and same color) as yours here. I found the Yamaha OEM Touring screen to be far superior than the Givi. The Givi blew the wind right in my face. I also did NOT like the Yamaha trunk at all. It felt cheap to me and too large (proportion to the bike looked out of place and just odd) so I got rid of it and bought a Givi V47. It's funny we have the complete opposite opinions, lol. But now the big things. I found the suspension on the FJR to be the worst of almost any bike I owned. I felt like I was riding on Cobblestone boulders no matter where I went. And the #1 reason I disliked the Yamaha FJR? THE SHAFT DRIVE ! It was horrible. Whether you were accelerating or decelerating, you always get that "jerk" from the drive and it drove me nuts. The "transmission" was great yes - but the shaft drive I thought was the worst I've ever had. So interestingly enough, for all the reasons you love your FJR are exactly all the reasons I hated mine. And unfortunately I got rid of it. I ended up buying a brand new Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx (which has every electronic option under the sun), was about 1k more than the FJR. Has the same HP, more comfortable, and the shaft drive on the Tiger is AMAZING.. absolutely NO jerking at all. What I will say about the FJR is the engine is phenomenal. The bike is a tad hard to work on because you have to remove the plastics for even some of the basic tasks. So - it's funny the different opinions people have on bikes, lol. When I saw your video I had to chuckle because everything you love about the bike was the reason I got rid of it. Although I do find it odd you feel the FJR is superior to the BMW K1600? That's something I've never heard before. Cheers !

Thanks for your comment it made me chuckle, I guess that's why we don't all ride the same bike huh? I'm not a fan of the adventure style and prefer the old school sports Tourer look and feel. I find the transmission is a dream, I like to cover big miles and the big K16 kept going wrong. Ride safe and thanks for watching!

@@VRFlightSimGuy No problem.. appreciate the feedback. I do respect everyone's opinion & that's why it's essential to find the bike that's right for YOU! It's like asking about oil or tires, lol. The FJR is a great bike though.. I think it's a good, solid, bullet-proof tourer that will keep you smiling in the saddle. Enjoy your ride !!

@@Airtouch67 I forgot to say, I even bought a V47 top box and hated it. Wasn't impressed with the quality at all and my partner didn't feel secure on the back (and it scratched easily). The Deluxe Yamaha version feels superb in comparison and really sets off the bike.
