I have the same bike. I like the bag you added, and I have the same touring windscreen. I was on the fence for fog lamps, but you have inspired me to get the same kind you have. I have reflective black decals on the back, and sides which do show well when lit by headlights. I also got canyon cages which I attached foot pegs to for long drives. Very comfortable to stretch your legs.
Great video. I too am 59 and I have the same bike in the Detroit area. Planning to get the same windscreen myself. Nice to see it in actual use, thank you. In my opinion, the FJR is the perfect bike. Goldwings are too big, BMWs are too expensive and Harley’s are both, along with noisy, unreliable and inherently unsafe. What I most love about the FJR is the versatility. Apart from off-reading, nothing is beyond the capabilities of this motorcycle. You can travel cross-country with speed and ease or just run down to the market for groceries. It has more torque then a Harley Breakout and it does it all without any fuss. It’s also one of the most reliable machines on the planet with routine maintenance. I’ve had many bikes in my 42 some odd years of riding and it is the best bike I’ve ridden, it reminds me of my ‘82 CBX but the CBX didn’t have the excellent brakes with ABS and as much power. I would only consider selling the FJR for the BMW R1200RT which is much more expensive, if not more comfortable straight out of the box. Looking forward to future videos on your channel, keep up the good work. I too am dabbling with motovlogging. Cheers and let’s get together for a ride sometime.
I' I am also a Detroiter!! I'm a bit late to this party, but a nicely done video!! Everhandy I have a 2017 Harley Ultra limited and I own a 2015 BMW R1200RT...I agree with you on all points...seriously looking at the new FJR!!
thank you very much for the info dense video. I too am 59 and own a 2010 FJR 1300A which I stumbled upon at Yamaha dealership with my friend while he was getting his Ural worked on. I've since stopped riding my other bike (Harley) because this bike is so far more advanced in everyway. I call it my "Starship Enterprise." It was used and the previous owner had LED strip accent lighting all over it. It came with the Commander 3 & the slip on Two Brothers exhuast upgrade. If all goes right in the superbowl I may be in the market for a new one. ;-) I'm already at Revzilla looking for the soft bag. THANKS AGAIN!
One of the funnest parts of getting a new bike is getting goodies for it and customizing it. :D Very nice. BTW... Happy anniversary to you and the Mrs...
That's so awesome. Congrats on the new FJR, Mr. Polymers! I love the fog lights that you've installed. 1000 lumens is no joke. I hope the bike brings you many miles to come. I bought myself a 2015 HD Sportster in May after graduating from college. Nothing like a new bike to make you feel like the best version of yourself. Take care and ride safe, buddy!
Thanks Orvis. Ha, I'm old enough to be your father. LOL. Trust me, when I purchased this, my wife thought I had bought a crotch rocket. Also, no Harleys for me. Reason being, back in 2000 I had a Suzuki Intruder 1400 with drag pipes. Loud as hell and also ended up in me getting into a confrontation with a neighbor who said I was drag racing which I was not. After that fiasco, my wife said absolutely "No more loud motorcycles"!!!!! Thus why I went to a Burgman 650 then notched it up to this. Good riding..
MrPolymers As long as you have the will to ride, you are a-okay in my book. That is what we all share, regardless of motorcycle brand. I'd love to own an FJR someday. I am jealous! My sporty is pretty loud but thankfully, so is my neighbor and his Harley. I've always wanted a motorcycle. It's been on my mind for my entire life. I kept telling myself, "maybe one day I can make this happen". A week after I graduated, I did just that. I've never been this happy before, and I look forward to making more memories with the bike 😊
Great video! I love the extra lighting you have fitted, being more visible is absolutely essential. As you were telling us about your preference to the bag over a topbox, I was reminded of when we used some leather throw over panniers on a Honda CM200T and Honda CB400NC, mainly for touring purposes but also for the weekly shopping trip. My Wife and I didn't own a car back then so the bikes were our only transport and so we used the bike for shopping trips to the supermarket. We left the leather panniers on the bike whilst inside the supermarket many times without problem, however on one occasion, I returned to the bike to find they'd been stolen! Damm!!!!! I felt so silly I can tell you as well as angry. That was a hard lesson learned I can tell you. At the age of 21 I was too trusting and naive. Happy anniversary to you both. My Wife Lynn and I celebrate 30 years next year. Also, well done on keeping your neighbourhood tidy. Our immediate neighbourhood is kept tidy by most of us living here, however that cannot be said about the rest of our once proud, historic town of Blackburn in Lancashire I'm afraid. Ride safe.
Thanks for the wonderful response Paul. I could not for the life of me get my wife to ride on a motorcycle. My ancestors are from there, Ireland and Germany..
Yes, I'm very fortunate to share with Lynn the pure joy of motorcycling. We've had two Goldwings in between owning two ST1300 Pan Europeans, the Pan won the day on that one. It Honda had developed the Pan like Yamaha have wirh the FJR, we'd have the Pan for sure. You'll have to visit us when you come over. Check out my channel to see where we ride to in this part of the UK, the best part in my opinion. 😎 Although we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, Lynn and me wish you and your family Happy Thanksgiving.
@@MrPolymers Hi. I've just come across this again. I'm afraid we didn't get to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary because I lost Lynn in May 2017 after a non fault crash on the bike. We were hit by another motorcycle that had blown a stop sign at a crossroads. I eventually lost the lower part of my left leg. My videos are so valuable now of course. I'm hoping one day to ride again. 👍
I turn 50 in 1.5 years. I’m planning to get an FJR. It will be my all in one bike. I had a Diavel & a Gs1200. I’m riding an Xsr900 now. Yamaha makes gr888 bikes. Hopefully by then the speedo is an LCD like a tracer & it will be perfect. Not forgetting the Yamaha TOP box.

I would advise everyone to get what you are calling Sliders for any bike because they keep your fairing from getting too messed up. Yep, you and I have gone down the same path. The Burgman was a great commuter vehicle for those needing the transportation as an alternative to a car. I know this is an old video but I hope you invested in some frame sliders. The FJR is a heavy bike and if its not moving, it tends to wants to fall over....happened to me on an off camber road when coming to a stop and the frame sliders did their job.
Hi, nice video! I am looking at adding lights to my 2015 FJR as you have on this vid. Do you mind sharing a closer look at how you installed them onto the motorcycle? Not the wiring, but the brakets is what I am looking for. Many thanks.
My first mod would have been the seat. I got a Corbin... was not worth the money. Barely improved the numb butt factor. Modified the stock seat with Purple Cushion. Easy done and affordable.
The adhesive appliqué with the American flag and it looked kind of like a screening eagle design on it . I like the reflective side to it . I have 2 on my side bags flag of the confederacy & it’s reflective too but it’s a design that’s fits the side bags yours r great where they r 👍. I’m wondering if maybe they come from the same manufacturer as I don’t c many with reflective properties. I have seen block design stickers u can hardly c during the day but pop out at night
Happy 33rd anniversary! Jenny actually bought be 2 windshields for my Trophy... The VStream short for summer cuz I complained it got so damn hot with all the fairing... then the medium sized VStream for spring and fall. Yeah, they were expensive... but there's something about the VStream that really reduces the turbulance that the stock windshield had. Has your wife ridden on the back of the FJR yet? :-)
Arron!!!! Now, you know better than to ask me that question!! She would not get on this if her life depended on it LOL.... Nope, if Cynthia would ride, I would have purchased a late model Gold Wing. Yes, my wife is a nervous Nelly when it comes to these things. I hope you are doing well. Tell Jenny I said hello..

I agree. I've been accused of running a "Light Show" when I did this with my Burgman 650..;)
I had those "sliders" on my FJR and they worked quite well when it would fall over with me when standing still. If I let the bike go past its balance point I could not hold it up. The forth time this happened I sold the bike. At 650 Lbs it is a heavy bike, but in all fairness I am short at 5'7" and too short of an inseam thus I could not put my foot down without leaning the bike over slightly. I would advise everyone to get what you are calling Sliders for any bike because they keep your fairing from getting too messed up. I have 2 on my side bags flag of the confederacy & it’s reflective too but it’s a design that’s fits the side bags yours r great where they r 👍. I’m wondering if maybe they come from the same manufacturer as I don’t c many with reflective properties. I have seen block design stickers u can hardly c during the day but pop out at night
very nice bike. I have a 2013 model, and am looking for the oem windshield. Any info on where you found your windshield at? Thanks!
Chris

Cool!
Thanks Mike..
Great bike, great windshield :) DO you think you could smoke a cigar on it at 60 MPH with the windshield fully extended?
100% yes.
Mr Polymers, what are the 2 light bubles on your front fender
Actually, deer horns. LOL.. We have a few deer here in Ohio..
I am buying a 2019 leftover and want to get those uncutable zip ties you talk about. Can you send me a link please?
Could you list the specifics on the lights you have added? I would love to have that kind of light on my bike!
Brett..
The side lights are inexpensive: www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-Real-Yellow-Amber-COB-Car-LED-Light-DRL-Fog-Driving-Lamp-Waterproof-17cm-12V-/381445531223?hash=item58cfece657
The fog lights are 10 watt Cree's: www.ebay.com/itm/2X-10W-Cree-LED-Work-Light-Offroad-Driving-Fog-Lamp-Spot-Motorcycle-4WD-UTE-12V-/172147341496?hash=item2814c7f8b8

I don't monetize my channel so generally I don't provide links to products.
Nice bike! Good thing a police officer was not behind you, Non stops at those stop signs LOL Have fun on your new ride, be careful.
Ha. What I did not mention was I passed the township police department in my video. If you see me rolling through a stop sign, I can assure you I don't have anyone behind me. ;)
What brand is your smartphone bracket?
Very inexpensive item on eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/Adjustable-Motorcycle-GPS-Scooter-Mount-Holder-Stand-For-Cell-Phone-Universal-/381887885699?hash=item58ea4ab183
How did you mount the fog lights?
On the fairings. I did drill holes..
Same”bike” and what model “bag”
just one other question, the cell phone mount...what kind is that?

Works out well as it's mounted with a screw in the battery area plastic. Can be adjusted and holds my V10 well
Ha! I thought that was mine. I was like when did i make this video.
What does you being 59 have to do with a damn thing you still young get on that damn thing and enjoy the hell out of it lol
I'd personally not place a white light on my bike as a side marker. that could lead to disaster with cars traveling perpendicular to you.
I can turn them off at night. They are just for visibility. Not sure what other color I'd use?
MrPolymers : Side markers in the front should be yellow and rear markers should be red. That helps other vehicles know which direction you're facing.
I double checked and I did find these in yellow. I ran white LED's to the side of my Burgman for a number of years with no problems.. I may think of this. Thanks goodness I set up bullet connectors to swap these out.
Love the eagles! TRUMP/MAGA 2020!
