Today at work I was unconsciously mumbling to myself "Hi this is Mato" until someone said, "what the hell are you saying?" I think I am watching too many of his videos
Mato is great. Mato is loveable. He is a fantastic actor and commentator. His smile is simply infectious. He chooses words that have a telling effect. Hats off to him. Long live dear.
Your analysis is great.........I started chess about 20 years back and didnt play for the past 15 years. Seeing your videos has once again ignited the passion in Chess for me...........Subscribed
I have to say, after viewing so many of Tal's games in your channel, I think he is my favourite player... I just love this cold moves and sacrifices he makes. I'm no expert, but I wish I could find moves like his!
Hi Mato! Thank you for your efforts! Your presentations and commentary are the best on youtube!!! I was turned on to Tal's style by your videos and hope for more Tal videos in the future:)
What do I think of this game,,,,well it really just shows me the genius and greatness of these two Masters and the greatness of the game itself,,, the for sight they had is just amazing, TY,,,, 😆✌
I think another dimension of 15. h4 is that Tal is a fast attacker, and lives on tempo. Upon securing g5 with his h-pawn, he will have reduced black's dark square bishop's scope immensely, condemning black to a lot of tempo and action to free it, whereas Tal is buying space, crowding the enemy king, and burying an enemy piece in one, economical move. He is effectively "trading" dark square bishops - at least temporarily. And "temporarily" is usually all Tal needs to complete a winning attack! ;^)
Tal's reputation obviously preceded him. I think that if Black plays the continuation NxN+ followed by Bxg2 preventing the checks on the h file he certainly could have held out longer, e.g. R or Qxc3 is coming or Kg8 depending on White's reply.
at 5:00 rook to A1 was an option Queen to A7 check mate. If bishop takes pawn on B2 than Knight takes pawn on D6, if pawn takes knight rook takes pawn with intent of rook to A6, pawn takes rook, pawn takes pawn, Queen to B4 check and Queen to B7 checkmate. Other alternative pawn does not take, but rook to B8 instead, then pawn to B6. Pawn takes pawn, queen takes pawn. Basically he is better of protecting his King. At least I think.
What do you think about Qd3 instead of Rhe1 after black Be7 at 1:54? The idea is that after black castle white would take the knight on f6 with bishop and if black take back with bishop it loses the pawn on d6 and if take with g pawn then white has open g-line and a stron attack on king side: rook, knight, and queen can easily switch via third row to join the attack (this is the reason why Qd3 instead of Qd2 was played in first place).
Mato at 4:33 the reason why black didn't play Nxc3, is it because after Nxc3 there is 1.Rh1+ Kg8 2.Qh7# Checkmate in two? Or is there something I am missing in that continuation?
well mato i just started playing chess in 3 months but honestly i have seen all the moves that you ask and this move yes i see it so easly thanks for the video
But this isn´t the Rossolimo variation, this is the Chekower variation. Not a very recomendable choice for white, perhaps is a good surprise sometimes but why not having the full advantage with the sicilian mainlines.
Mato: Thanks for explaining Black's move K h8. Sometimes grandmasters will move their kings when there is no immediate threat...it always makes me wonder why.
great video as always Mato. i have a question though, at 4:33 after white queen moved to d3 , why didn't black play knight to f2 forking the rook and queen and also preventing a check at h2 or h3 ?
Evidently black was doomed after 15..hxg5 against a player like Tal ,Qd8 was probably better with the possibility of ..Nh7 or Ng8 keeping defense on the king side without opening the H file ; what do you think Mato, if you have time.
Thanks, Matojelic is the best . Why one day Kasparov said in an interview, talking about Capablanca Opponents at that time were not very good and then I ask mer, then what wait if Morphy played 55 years before ? Thanks
Because the king is exposed and there is a mating net after Rh1 + check, Knight takes rook on h1, the other rook recaptures with check, after which there are no more interventions, the king has to move followed by the queen checkmating next move, Qh7++ checkmate!
@ Albinas: knight blocks Q-h7 @ shirshakbt: not sure, but I think white would continue with Knight d6 attacking rook and have perhaps more of an advantage? @ Krishan: knight to f2 would result in checkmate after rook h1
Nice video but maybe Tal's sacrifice was unsound after 1.h4 hxg5 2.hxg5 Nxe4 3.Qd3 Nxc3+ 4. bxc3 Bxg5 5.fxg5 Rfe8 and King can escape, 6. Rh1+ Kg8 7. Qh3 Kf8 and black will be OK. Sometimes a Tal sacrifice has a psychological advantage but not a real chess advantage in this game.
Well we have all the time that we need to speculate, they didn't. It's true it seems to be a better move, as black doesn't seems to be losing afterwards, but the best that they can hope for is a draw with perpetual check
instead of H6 black should being played d5. I like that line for black, it's quite tricky but I think that gives black some interesting ways to atack white king.
"Tal made a move... and black resigned", love when Mato says that.
Please remove printed words it obstruct the diagram !
@@rudyhernandez8885 I am totally involved in Mato S mesmerising Chess talk and so the printed words escape my eyes
Genije. Sve njegove partije su takve. hvala na izboru.
Today at work I was unconsciously mumbling to myself "Hi this is Mato" until someone said, "what the hell are you saying?" I think I am watching too many of his videos
+Sepand Ghanouni I sometimes say "Pawn takes pawn. KNIIGHT TAKES PAWN!" to myself :P
Hi, this is Mato. Tal made a move....and black resigned.
and that move was ... e4
Mato is great. Mato is loveable. He is a fantastic actor and commentator. His smile is simply infectious. He chooses words that have a telling effect. Hats off to him. Long live dear.
May be you should have mumble "Hi this is Sepand" so that no one is suspicious.
Thank you for your excellent teaching! The how and why were so clearly explained! Please it keep up!
Your analysis is great.........I started chess about 20 years back and didnt play for the past 15 years. Seeing your videos has once again ignited the passion in Chess for me...........Subscribed
Thank you. All your uploads are enjoyable, especially the ones featuring Tal.
I have to say, after viewing so many of Tal's games in your channel, I think he is my favourite player... I just love this cold moves and sacrifices he makes. I'm no expert, but I wish I could find moves like his!
Thank you Mato for all the Tal videos, Hopefully I can find the killer move!
Hi Mato! Thank you for your efforts! Your presentations and commentary are the best on youtube!!! I was turned on to Tal's style by your videos and hope for more Tal videos in the future:)
Brilliant videos & commentary. Mato - great stuff. Love when you say "Now pause, and see if you can find the KILLER MOVE!". Keep it up!
Excellent work Mato!!..keep doing it because it´s a great help to us. Thank you for your instructive videos.
Another great video by Mato, thank you.
This is the same idea , as the ruy lopez fishing pole trap. Great play by Tal.
Mato, thanks, your work is great!
Thank you for your comment
Thank you for your work - I appreciate it !
¡Otra maravilla táctica del impresionante Mijail Tal!
tal is amaaaazing!!!! he is a magician. I was shocked even with the continuation moves... haha thanks a million mato!
What do I think of this game,,,,well it really just shows me the genius and greatness of these two Masters and the greatness of the game itself,,, the for sight they had is just amazing, TY,,,, 😆✌
Excellent videos. Very impressive and instructive chess. Keep up the great job. it is really a pleasure to watch your videos.
Tal, more than anyone, taught me that piece values always come second to tactical considerations.
Finally i got it: west is on the left side of the board...
Thanx, mato!
Love to watch Tal´s games! Thank you Mato!
Love these Tal games. So creative.

Hi Mato...
Thanks to this video...I borrowed the idea and used it several times in a game..gud stuff :)
O man I Love the way your English Sounds and when you comment a match of Tal playing white It means PARTY !
Awesome chess videos
killah move
hi, this is Ma To ; And we have reached.. critical position .. in the game ; "MMmmm" ;
Deepak Gupta MMmmmm, what a game, and that is all, I hope you all enjoy the video and good luck with your chess
Dr. Double M AND VAIT IZ BETTAARRRRR
Mato, at 5:06, what I think black saw was ...Nxc3, Rh1+, Kg8 (only move I see), Qh7++
Awesome Mr.Mato!
True

RoadRage what are you talking about? I think you've got the co ordinates wrong
It would be rook to h1 and queen to h7 checkmate.there was no defence.thank u
Good Game. Tal attack is Fantastic. He brings in lot of variations; out of box thinking!
Tal had some great moves..
I know this is an old video, but wow you can really learn something, tks Mato

grande Mato;).saluti dall'italia
@ 5:05, Black quickly collapses after 1..Kg8 2.Rh1 f5 3. g6.
The mate with Rh8+ Kxh8 Qh3+ Kg8 Qh7# can't be stopped.
mato , can you put more videos of alexei shirov , I really like his games
well mato i just started playing chess in 3 months but honestly i have seen all the moves that you ask and this move yes i see it so easly
thanks for the video
But this isn´t the Rossolimo variation, this is the Chekower variation. Not a very recomendable choice for white, perhaps is a good surprise sometimes but why not having the full advantage with the sicilian mainlines.
Mato, How do you use the chess board to make good quality vidoes?? :)
Mato: Thanks for explaining Black's move K h8. Sometimes grandmasters will move their kings when there is no immediate threat...it always makes me wonder why.
"The king must go west to escape." LOLOL Mato
At 4:35 why not Knight to F2, forking white rook and queen?
great video as always Mato. i have a question though, at 4:33 after white queen moved to d3 , why didn't black play knight to f2 forking the rook and queen and also preventing a check at h2 or h3 ?
Df3 Nxd1 Dh5+ Kg8 Rh1 Nxc3+ bxc3 Db4+ Kc1 Da3+ Kd2 no defense any more to Dh8X.
beautiful chess game. thanks for sharing this video.
At 05:40, why didn't black play f6, preventing pawn push?
Then nothing defends Bishop from rook h1
Why not Bxf4 at 5:15? That would also stop Knight coming to g5 and can also defend the king later with Bh6!
Mato, if you could have had any chess GM (past or present) as your mentor who would you chose?
At 5:08 why didn't black fork the queen and rook instead of taking with the bishop????
***** I am thinking white would win with checkmate. Nf2 18.Rh1+ Nxh1 19.Rxh1+ Kg8 20.Qh7+
***** I think tal would do this: First queen to H1 check. Then if knight takes rook, then rook to h1 and how do you stop mate?
art of war. ...you are by far the best chess master and teacher, the others are boring as hell! !!
Thank you
No kidding.
My favorite chess player of all time!!!
how long does it take to make yuan of these videos
WAS a beast, my friend... Was.
Evidently black was doomed after 15..hxg5 against a player
like Tal ,Qd8 was probably better with the possibility of ..Nh7
or Ng8 keeping defense on the king side without opening the
H file ; what do you think Mato, if you have time.
At 5:08, if black takes knight with knight on E4, then rook to H1 check then queen to H7 Mate. Which is why he didnt take.
at 5.06 why not Bf2 forking queen n rook????
Mato you said the king must go west why not in the north? is it dark?
Brilliant game play.
At 5:08 instead of Be7xe5
Why not Nf2 forking Q and R
Thanks, Matojelic is the best .
Why one day Kasparov said in an interview, talking about Capablanca Opponents at that time were not very good and then I ask mer, then what wait if Morphy played 55 years before ?
Thanks
*whispers*
White. Made a move. And black. resiiigned.
Because the king is exposed and there is a mating net after Rh1 + check, Knight takes rook on h1, the other rook recaptures with check, after which there are no more interventions, the king has to move followed by the queen checkmating next move, Qh7++ checkmate!
White would win in couple of moves, starting with Rh1 check
it feels like, tal was a human disguised alien extra ordinary chess prodigy who out played human wit.
@ Albinas: knight blocks Q-h7
@ shirshakbt: not sure, but I think white would continue with Knight d6 attacking rook and have perhaps more of an advantage?
@ Krishan: knight to f2 would result in checkmate after rook h1
Nice video but maybe Tal's sacrifice was unsound after 1.h4 hxg5 2.hxg5 Nxe4 3.Qd3 Nxc3+ 4. bxc3 Bxg5 5.fxg5 Rfe8 and King can escape, 6. Rh1+ Kg8 7. Qh3 Kf8 and black will be OK. Sometimes a Tal sacrifice has a psychological advantage but not a real chess advantage in this game.

It's true it seems to be a better move, as black doesn't seems to be losing afterwards, but the best that they can hope for is a draw with perpetual check
Great game!
i was thinking that sicilian defence is one of the powerful opening for black and take him avantage in game, but it i am not quite sure now
Articles are overvalued anyway…
Keep it up Mato!
isnt it just not common variation of fishing pole?
I just wanted to write that. Tal is my favourite chess player.
H4 is really really really great move....:)
i love tal's Games..
my hero is Tal.
Who is krastyo darlanov?
What’s a Mato?
that early pawn capture with the queen seems to inhibit fiancetto of black's king side. automatic loss of rook and gobbling up the king side pieces.
I missed the "Killer move"! :P
instead of H6 black should being played d5. I like that line for black, it's quite tricky but I think that gives black some interesting ways to atack white king.
Cool game!
And it will also be protecting pawn on d6.
I somehow feel like if you can't be king, being a side pawn is probably your best bet to survive...
Tal's courage is genius
...h6?? What was Byrne thinking--this is Tal!!
How would *I* continue?
I'd blunder my queen and hope hope hope my opponent doesn't notice it. But that's why I watch these videos.
Bit of a Fishing Hook
MATO, don't you think TAL would be the only player who could beat today's programs?
yeah i see it. thanks
i see that sacrifice. im familiar with that pattern
I Like CheckMato
oh... thanks
I wouldnt play E4. Playing tactical is difficult when you cant see far into the game. But I dont mind trying =)
No pieces are safe in Tal's army. Tal would use the King in some crazy mating pattern before any other piece if he had the chances. :P
i once played similar move and win... opening file for rook by sacrificing a piece is a good move
"Tal sacrificed his Queen…
Or did he?"
i think ine the 5:04 he was afraid of Rh1 Check Kg8 than Qh7 Mate
Takes long
i like this video :))
he wrote a book ;) well I guess you found out by now but just in case ;)
