Sheet Metal Hack- Filter Slot in Return Air Duct
Вставка

- The focal point of todays video is to highlight how easy it is to make a filter slot in the return air duct that is simple to access. It's all about thinking about what is needed to make it easy for the home owner. Simply, an access slot and filter 'slide' is hand made during the layout of the return air fitting that is to be connected to the entering air end of a horizontal hanging air handler. #diy, #sheetmetalfabrication, #ductwork

Wow I been wanting to see another sheet metal video from the man who can do ANY THING AND HAS ABOUT EVERY TOOL A CREW OF 20 CAN USE
THANKYOU.
Good Morning Tom !! Good to hear from you today. I hope all is well with you my friend. Thanks for watching another one buddy.
That’s how they put my new furnace filter in. It makes it so easy to change.
Hot dang, if you have one similar to this you are lucky. So many are really botched up and get hung on screws or sharp edges of the metal.
*A true man of your craft Wendell* 🙂👍 Nice work my friend 🔧
Good Morning Zane. Thanks for the compliment my friend. This is one I can't hardly mess up ...Nice and simple for a change.
Yes!, thank you! I really like the sheet metal videos too!
Thanks Mark for watching them ! This one was finally something simple.
Thank you! I have a house that a new furnace was installed with a hack job filter provision. Now I can make it write.
The main thing is to make sure there's no sharp edges or screw tips that catch the filter. Good luck with your adaption Danny.
Yay , a sheet metal video! On the commercial side I always replace those bug filters on those Mitsubishi pankake units with a 1" filter rack for a merv 8 filter. Easy change out. Thxs for the vids!
Heck yeah David. I do whatever is necessary to make it easy on myself. Then I know the customer will be satisfied too. That's a good tip on the Mitsubishi's.
would be really fun if you did a shop tour and showed what you have and how you have set it up😀
It seems to be always changing because there's always another machine or tool that comes to live here. I had to remove the second layout table to make room for the 9 x 42 Jet metal lathe. I still miss that table !!
Love the sheet metal videos! This gentleman could build a mona lisa with metal!! All i can do is square'd arounds (square to round), pans, and square duct lol
I appreciate you guys taking the time to watch Cody. I have had the chance to make some oddball stuff over the years...but I haven't made a square to round for decades !!
@tractorman4461 we've actually got patterns at the shop for them. From 14" up to 20" we just trace out the pattern and take it to the brake.
@@codyolive9459 awesome !! That's a good thing and shows good thinking on someones part.
Thanks for another great video 👍👍👍
At least this one was quite simple to make. Thank you for the visit today Tony.
Don't tease us Wendell !!!! LOL
Hahahaha....it'll be a fun video. Gotta get a little creative for the retrieval.
Nice job bubby hope your having a great week take care
It's a little toasty down here. Knocking a heck of a hole out of 100F last week. Thanks for the visit Tom. Have a great weekend.
Another good video Wendell
Thanks Dave, I don't get the chance to make much metal anymore. But thank you for haning in for another one albeit a simple one.
Very nice hand shears
I've had these for many many years. The new ones are kept in the tool box that goes with me to the job...and they are still 30+ years old. I got this set around 1977 and the cool thing is the cutting edges are replaceable. Thanks for watching.
I like that extension of the 1/2" double hem to keep the filter out of the furnace, kinda like an inside flange but the screws are outside the duct. I know you said you aren't worried about leakage but a little door to clip or slide on can be nice to prevent howling too.
Yes, a lot of times I make a flanged cover to slide into a pair of 'tracks' that are riveted to the sides of the slots. Then use the next size longer filter to make it stick out of the slot, but covered by the cover.
Thank you Wendell.
Good Morning Bryce. Thanks for watching, I appreciate all the time you guys take to watch.
Good little job buddy . 😊
Thanks Leonard. I almost didn't record this one because its so basic. But, oh well... (-;
Nice work!
For once, a simple one came through. Thanks for watching !!
No new video for 3 weeks. I was wondering about you ll?
We were out where there was the poorest internet coverage I've ever seen Randall. I could occasionally pick up a signal for a brief moment, but couldn't watch anything at all. We are back in town now though.
