Proper racing like this is impossible to imitate . Thank you so much for this video. These guys were characters and layed the foundations for Australian motorsport for years to come . I'm sure the modern participants are good people but this era and the next 20 years of V8 Supercars will be looked back at as the best . It had it all .
My first Bathurst in the flesh, I was in Yr7, the best naming rights partner ever, Tooheys 1000 just rolled off the tongue!, I was at McPhillamy when Brocky crashed, jumped the barrier after he got towed & snagged the indicator lens off his VP, got him to sign it some 10 yrs later@Oran Park, he was spewing, he would have won 1994, & it would have been his perfect 10th, such a legend/GOAT, & helped to shape the 2nd GOAT...Lowndsey!
I was there that year, standing not far from where Brocky crashed . Both cars in front of him had to stop for fuel , he would have won . Missed the crash I was refilling the Esky
1hour 30- Brock losing control and crashed into the wall reminded me of how he went in Europe where he drove over the track limits in to the grass or dirt several times.
Why did they not just limit the GTR too rear wheel drive and even things up, best of both worlds keep the cool turbos and have good competition. What do you think?
@@jamesvozar1 Because according to the FIA Group A rule book at the time, there was no rule saying that the cars had to be rear wheel drive only and Nissan found a loophole in the rules when they were developing the Skyline GTR
If the australian race spectators had such a huge dislike for the skyline why did they even attend it? For that matter the other other manufacturers could have said something. I watced the highlights and those rs500 sierras held their own against the awd skyline. Skill and better pitstops helped the skyline win. That was all.
Its 1994 and like a top bloke he gives a shout out to the 1 female driver in the grid, not in the lame way by saying laddie and gentlemen start your engines. All the crap about how bad men are these days is just so far from the mark its not even funny. Men like this are my dads age that taught me to be like them :)
Questionable car retrievals with no Safety Cars, drivers undoing their belts at racing speed, marshals smoking in the pit lane near refuelling cars. It’s a miracle that this era of ATCC/Supercars didn’t have more fatalities.

Totally. Modern racing including F1, WRC etc lacks personalities who speak their mind and give zero F's about offending anyone.
started watching the 2022 qualifying and switched off to watch this. The golden years
It's old, but gold. 👍

Thanks for the historical coverage, really cool to see it. USA fan.
Seton was bloody good. Very underrated and good bloke.
Yeah, still seems unfair that he never won at Bathurst. Definitely deserved one.
Facts my guy his performance in the pj falcon on the shootout was absolutely off the rails!
@@ryanschacht_ True. I never saw him driving better.
It’s gone from this, great drivers, cars people can relate to ….. to the junk it is now
@@grantmitchell7198 Well unfortunately we no longer build cars in Australia, so what do you expect them to race?'

1994. The greatest Bathurst of all time. And my all time favourite. Along with 1999, 1984, 1975, 1979 and many other ones.
I love the wet weather races. It puts more emphasis on driver skill. All wheel drive is a huge advantage, hence not really an equal comparo.😀
I raced around Oran park everyday for the 8 months I worked there. I bet I knew it better than any driver. You sneaked in a clip of Oran park.

No Johnson and Bowe still would have won Michael brooks
@@michaelbrooks1182 they were marginal on fuel so who knows.
and could we imagine elecric cars racing around this circuit, no noise of great engines just a whine
Exactly bro. The whole racing industry will collapse. No one will watch it. Barely anyone will wanna pay for ads. It’s sad
Perkins slide is epic.
The crowd is ruthless at the podium
1994 was 1 year cams didn’t cripple the Fords aero like 1993 & 1995.
What caused Brock to crash, was it oil or not changing the brake pads?
@@colinstewart1432 got slightly off line got on the marbles and lost control hitting the wall at high speed . Brock admitted Driver error.
@@Steveaustin007That'll do it. 💥
These drivers seem so nice to be race car drivers.
The year where the new generation started.
This is the last time I actually watched from start to finish after this I got bored with it it's not you go to your local dealer and buy one

Everyone in 92 - skaife only wins because of the gtr
Skaife in a v8 - hold my beer bogans

Best racing. Who'd have thought that in 30 years time it would deteriorate to the shit that it is now.
It's happened across all motorsport. Bikes, cars, you name it. Even F1.
