    I love how you're so open and kind about your diet. Most vegans I've watched on UA-cam just seem to yell their opinions and shame those who do have the same diet. I really appreciate the way you endorse your diet! Lots of love from Alaska

    Opinions on juicing versus smoothies

    • @jasmineshort2469
      @jasmineshort2469 9 років тому +18

      Gili Cohen I'm really not a fan of juices, they're full of nutrients but they're also full of sugar without any fibre. I'd much rather have a smoothie, not removing the fibre means everything is digested slower so you're still getting the same nutrients just without the sugar spikes, plus you'll be fuller for longer.

      +cumensu, word... to walk out of the grocery store with 2-4 pounds of top sirloin, or rib-eye steaks would need to spent 20-50 dollars easy. 2pound tri-tip loin is 24-30 dollars. Hell even foster farms chickens are like 12 or 14 dollars. Just a few cuts will double or triple my bill at the register.

      At first I got a lot of vegan alternatives like vegan yogurt, almond milk, vegan ice cream (I love So Delicious) and vegan cheese and eggs. That stuff can be expensive but helpful at first. It's really not that bad. You can eat Oreos if you live in the US and almond chocolate milk by Blue Diamond killed chocolate and sweet cravings. Now I just casually eat cereal just make sure it has no honey, toast, bagel (just not egg bagels), PASTA, salads (careful of dressings), veggies, and fruit. Chips, pretzels, non-buttered popcorn, rice, TOFU. It's really just a balance of carbs and veggies and fruit. I can rarely think about dairy anymore. It just seems gross to me. If u need encouragement, watch some vegan vids. I love bitesizevegan. Good luck and stay happy with this amazing lifestyle!

    A trick to keep your bananas fresh longer - tear them apart and put saran wrap on the tips. the reason they go bad is because gases (i forget which) are released through the stems, which makes them go brown. I have been doing this for awhile myself now, and it really works:) if you google "how to keep bananas fresh" I'm sure you'll find some more detailed evidence if you choose to do so

      Captain Cici you just gotta look into what your body needs and look up different fruits veggies nuts or wheat, the plant kingdom gives you everything your body wants and needs. or just look up vegan recipes lol ive made and tryed a couple there actually really good, leave me feeling happier and more energized to. not sure if others feel the same but i feel good after a healthy meal lol

    • @CapitalNaturel
      @CapitalNaturel 9 років тому +1

      Captain Cici Taking nutrition advice from a Doc is a very bad idea as most aren't trained more than a handful of hours in that particular field... A plant based lifestyle is IDEAL for many deficient diet issues! :) We should all be eating at least a pound of greens a day!? Are you?! Pairing those greens with fresh vitamin C rich foods ensures you absorb as much as your body can... Whole food iron supps FOR A TIME/AS A CRUTCH as you get your levels back up is also a good idea! Get advice from a naturopath or a holistic nutritionist. Docs know a lot, but nutrition wise, they shouldn't be your first stop! Vx #GoVegan #ItsTime ;)

If you try the Garden of Life protein powder, it already has a lot of vitamins which is what I do but then I also take an extra vitamin B complex and vitamin C. It is okay to take extra B & C. But be sure to use buffered or Ester-C. Your video is really awesome! I love it! I see how healthy you and look. Many blessings to you 💚

    2:30 says lemon water is highly alkaline. That is incorrect. Lemons are acidic, not alkaline.

      +Troye Sivan I'm sorry I don't quite understand what you're trying to say. The stomach is naturally full of acid, and lemons are acidic. Nothing about that combination will turn anything alkaline.

      +Marialla rather it is acidic but alkalizing in its effect on the body.

    • @Marialla.
      @Marialla. 9 років тому +1

      Thabo M How is this demonstrated? What is measured as first being more acidic, then after drinking lemon water found to be less acidic?

    • @Kurauone__
      @Kurauone__ 9 років тому +2

      Lemons are acidic but inside the body when they have been fully metabolized and their minerals are dissociated in the bloodstream, their effect is alkalizing and therefore raises the pH of body tissue.
      Just google it - there is a lot of good information on this.

      When you juice, you're trying to get a ton of nutrients in at once instead of spending all day eating that same amount of food. She's getting tons of fibre the rest of the day

    I think its really awesome of you, as a vegan, to not shame others who don't follow a similar lifestyle. I'm a vegetarian but it really bothers me how defensive some of us get against meat-eaters. So thank you for not being one of those people lol! :)
