I bought the mesh and tried this method with sunflowers, along side a tray grown on coconut coir. Both had a great yield, but the mesh sunnies grew better. Then I gave blind samples to a family of 4, a family of 3, and my own son. They all enjoyed the milder flavor of the sunnies grown on the mesh. Thanks for this awesome tip. After the taste test results I immediately started four more trays on the mesh. I used my regular black seed trays.

This is seriously such a brilliant idea! My radish greens are 3-6 inches high WITH NO MOLD!!! I may be too excited about this, but I have been struggling with mold for a couple of years! You should have one of those “thank you” money buttons! I would give you some $…and that’s saying something, because I’ve never done that before! Thank you so much for sharing your brilliant idea!!!

Is it the hydrogen peroxide that's keeping the mold at bay or the silicone mesh??

This is the way to go. This method is easy, keeps your greens easily able to be cleaned and you get a really easy release of the greens. The bonus is that you can cut the mats to fit in case you use a different sized container than what is shown. The biggest impact that I got from this was using the hydrogen peroxide, that has cleaned things up a lot. The only issue I've found is that it's difficult to hydrate some seed mixes on the mat itself as the seeds may be too small and slip through the holes. I've started using a fine mesh tea ball/strainer to soak the seeds instead then transfer the swollen soaked seeds to the mat. Once they've absorbed water the seeds tend to be too big to slip through the holes. Not a big deal, but you get a "cleaner" presentation while growing.

This is one of the best how-to videos on microgreens that I've seen. The comments and high number of views for just a handful of videos seem to show a lot of people agree.
I noticed OP hasn't posted in a couple years. Would love to see more of what you are doing. Are you still doing this type of growing? Would love to see some new videos if you're still able to do content. I think you'd get a lot of views and interest.

Your suggestion for use of silicone mat was very good.
I am based in India but this may is available only in USA. Fortunately I was able to request a friend to buy it for me and ship it. I have cut it up to the shape and size I need
Am finding it extremely useful. After every growing cycle i just hand wash it with soap, dry it and reuse it.
So thanks for suggesting this possibility

Amazing and wonderful! I just completed an experiment with two trays of broccoli sprouts on dehydrator sheets. Each used 3 TBS of seed. One I rinsed in the usual way. One I used this method of the epsom salt enhanced water beneath. I spritzed the second tray lightly once a day to keep it from drying out on top. Harvest was 3.5 cups of sprouts with the standard rinsing method and 4 cups of sprouts with the epsom salt water method.

… I’m so glad I found your video … at first I was a little concerned with the mesh you first used … BUT … what a relief when you came up with the idea of using the dehydrator mesh pads ! … I was getting ready to order the wire screens, but was concerned about dealing with the sharp edges . From watching other videos, I see that weighting down the seeds during the dark out period of germination adds to the sprouts strength and longer stems , which makes harvesting easier. It looks like you are just using natural light rather than grow lights? I plan to experiment and see what works best for my personal growing conditions. Many thanks!

Thank you so much for your inspiring sharing. I love your experiments so much. I was worried about that I might not be able to buy suitable growing materials in my country. But you show me it can be creative and all I have to do is to think and try.
But growing microgreens is not popular in my country, so it seems it's not easy to find so many different organic seeds here, I'm still trying though.
I'm not from an English speaking country, so it's great to watch your video with subtitles. Looking forward to your next one.

Thank you so much for your time to share your thoughts. 🙏I am not sure where you live but you can try seeds from Amazon sold by Trueleafmarket or Parkseeds. There are quite a few companies that sell organic seeds through Amazon. You just need to explore a bit more. My every step was an experiment and now I am happy with Trueleafmarket as the germination is so good that even after 2years their seeds have more than 90% germination. ( I bought so many seeds as I was experimenting and I ended up with too much 😁)
You can message me if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer.

Padma, game changing ideas! Maybe sell microgreens in the container. Thank you. Nice music!

Excellent. You and I are using similar techniques and logic. ie grow media, Epsom Salts , and doubling up the medium for small seeds - except you've completed the full journey. I shall persevere - again, a great video.

What beautiful way to grow microgreens and a very professional video. Are you a professional photographer? This idea will work well with growing my own greens to re-use the pads. I grow some micogreens for family and friends and have to harvest and bag them to be able to reuse the trays I have. The baskets are probably cheap enough to give away with a disposable pad like hemp, coconut, or burlap with the microgreens still growing in them. They could keep in the refrigerator still alive on the pad until harvested instead of me harvesting and putting them in a bag or container for several days. They get a little wimpy at the end.

Thank you ..I am not a photographer. I am a watercolor artist. It is so nice of you to share microgreens with friends. I sometimes keep the bowl in the fridge if we have too much food to eat. Small suggestion: Your friends can return the emptied bowls and you can reuse them. 😊

Thank you for the frugal way to grow these. I will try it. I do love microgreens and they are pricy. Paid $5 for a Berry Bowls size before.
