So glad to see this. I've been wary of all these gardeners using plastic containers. They do leach chemicals into the soils which get into the plants snd then into us!!!
I’ve been struggling with microgreens. I’ve been using bricks to weigh them down for a few days, and then a couple days in blackout, then introduce them to light. It’s been kinda hit or miss for me, some just didn’t work out. This seems to be a great way to grow them, and when you’re talking cheap and easy, I’m thinking the clay pebbles will last a very long time, so you’re definitely saving in the long run
Not a new grower but new to your channel. I really like your videos and appreciate the simple format. It’s easy to understand your methods and you give a lot of detail on the products you use. I’m getting a little older and transitioning to growing more on shelves and indoors. Also, love growing micro greens and I like how simple your methods are…mine are too involved! lol
I live in the desert and have sterilized growth media in restaurant bus tubs with the lid on for several weeks after the media is already dry. It gets about 150 degrees in the tubs
Really great thank you. I have a lot of seeds and have used sprouting jars but need to grow in larger quantities. I need to add to my rescued dogs diet as part of their organic food, I also have several hens and want to grow fodder for them. I also love the sprouts :)
Great video. The clay pebbles are the best medium for quickly being able to be reused. Where is your best place to source microgreen seed varieties in bulk? Subscribed!
I found glass containers at dollar tree with plastic lids, but the lid is solid/closed. Should I just cut an x shape into them like the lids you have here?
Is it okay to put seeds in an airtight container while they germinate? I started these clay pebble microgreens in a glass Tupperware that has a locking lid. There’s a little air in there and I open it twice a day to see if it needs to be sprayed, but I didn’t know if it was okay to lock them in while they’re still just germinating.
Hey Mike, question..... I grow lots of microgreens, tks to you. I never get the true leaves or 2nd set b4 the micros start falling over and need to be harvested. What's up with that??? Mahalo for any response.
I had the same question. I have been using it based off of his recommendation but it looks like he has moved away from it. I don't remember him explaining the change unless I missed a step in a video somewhere.
worked for me but I do mostly leafy greens. Other people were having trouble with it and reducing the ratio. I don't get into messing with all of that and just suggest the original formula so everyone does not get confused.
@@KeepOnGrowin Thanks, good to know. Long time traditional in-ground gardener, I started hydroponics and bought the 20-20-20 specifically based on your videos.
@@KeepOnGrowin Thank you Mike! I was one of those that had some initial issues. After some tweaking, I think I got it right. My issue seemed to be proper dilution of the powder. Once I let it fully dissolve in the water and increased the water ratio slightly, to about 75% strength, I got the best results. (for me) Awesome new idea using the clay pellets!! Can't wait to dig into this one! Have a great day and thanks again for all you do! Mike - Northern NY
I also had a lot of trouble with the right mix/dilution. I now mix it at half strength and now most of my plants are doing much better. But then I am using it for mostly indoor plants and young plants under lights, not outside in bright sunlight. @@MK-cw4gw
Why add the nutrient water at the beginning of the grow? I thought just plain water was used for sprouting seeds. Nutrient not until true leaves form???
Hi, another great vid mate thank you but the funny part for me is when you sead, let the plants play with the gnome village! that was funny and it got me thinking, i wonder how the plants will play with the gnomes and the village, i think i would need some stop motion camera and make it into a gnome horror film where the plants take over the village and the gnomes have got to fight them but its all in slow motion! sorry mate i just thought that was funny! thank you for making me laugh! take care mate and have a great day!
Love your content, Mike! You’ve become a great friend & influence! I appreciate a ll the options you’ve included in your content throughout all these years! 🌱🌿🌶️🫑🌴❣️☀️ I live in Florida, too. I’ve highly valued your experience. THANK YOU❣️

Why are you jealous of his wife. Let your husband do the same for you. The Bible says thou shalt not be jealous over other people's wife or husband . You have to let go of that thought ❤
Just do it yourself?! His wife is an artist and helps him with many projects too. U and ur husband can grow together but u can always do it urself too! That's what I'm doing.
Another great video. I really like how you don't get too technical. Low maintenance, and if it works it works. No stress.

It does; but using a recycle number 5 food grade is not bad for those just starting out.
Easily one of the best tutorials. Real! Thanks!
The containers he uses are called
Cloche Tray Set Glass Dome Lids
I’ve seen them in Target
I'm soo jealous of your wife! Lucky lady! I just love "simple men" money savers and don't take money for granted. Thank you for great videos!

Yeah, I got tired of losing entire trays of microgreens. This way if something goes sideways, it's just a small amount.
10 lbs of clay pebbles on the way!
One of the best uploads I’ve seen in ages 🙏👍👍I have those pebbles but never thought of using them with micro greens 😁

Thanks so much for this, I just put some of the hydroton/ Leca balls in my cart on Amazon. Can’t wait to try them!
I definitely will be doing a deep dive into this channel. Thanks so much.
I'm going to try with a bunch of old pyrex baking pans from the thrift store.
So glad to see this! Can’t wait for more details.
Great idea!! I’m amazed every video I watch! This is definitely going to be tried. Perfect for an apartment!
Thank you👍

I love the glass container idea! 👍👍👍
Great video. Thanks for the clay pebbles idea. I'm new to Microgreens.
Great video, Mike! Really loved this one!! Thank you.🕊
Love this channel! You make growing easy and relaxing.
Been super excited to see this.

I use True Leaf Market. Thank you very much!
fantabulous. Thankyou ! Love how simple you make it. If you use the sunny kitchen window sill, what growth can I expect?
Dollar Tree has similar jars for $1.25 each
I got my growing containers for free - raiding the recycling bin at my apartment complex - if you search for free ones, you can find them.
Another great video. I'm going to try this with pottery shards smashed down little.
Hey, I have a bunch of shattered glass in little chunks from a window accidentally dropped on concrete. Worth a try.
I’d like to see you meals and recipes with this greens
I found glass containers at dollar tree with plastic lids, but the lid is solid/closed. Should I just cut an x shape into them like the lids you have here?
I'm a beginner - there are quite a few types of clay balls and companies that sell them. Which one do you recommend? LECA or not? Thanks.

Nutrients or just water? Also experiment with density.
Got a big bag of Geolite clay pebbles coming. Best price i could find. Amazon
Salsa jars would be ideal ( Australia). ❤😊
Where can you find these glass containers?
Wonder if this will work in mason jars?
Yes, definitely
I’d say that it would… I intend to try it in 4oz ball mason jars 😊
Can you start you seeds this way to plant in the 5 gallon buckets?
yes, I do all the time.
what about food grade silicone mats?
Up to you. I believe you can make just about anything work.
How was the Masterblend 20-20-20? If I remember correctly, you tried it at one time.

But Mike..the short plastic containers I've been waiting for the perfect use for are dying to participate...
Can you use the roots for feeding animals?
Not sure if they have been sitting in nutrients for a week.
how many times can you use the clay pebbles before they need to be replaced? or what do you observe to tell you the clay pebbles need replacing ?
How many times can you use a ceramic coffee cup? Indefinitely. Periodic sterilization with heat or peroxide probably a good idea.
Can pebbles....like river rock ....be used to grow microgreens?
Clay pebbles are porous and retain moisture.
@@KeepOnGrowinThank you very much
@@KeepOnGrowin Oh.
Dang that is cool. What if you used glass baking dishes lol
I am trying that next, lol
Great video, and great idea.
Awesome video and the containers are the bomb. Will have to use something else ....
Almost forgot Love from England 🏴

Do as you like
Where can I get clay pebbles? Thanks
Got mine from Amazon uk
I got mine from a hydroponic store here in Australia

Thank you so much from Bhaarat
Can you grow with regular pebbles? Pea gravel would be heavy, but could work? Maybe?
clay pebbles retain moisture
What type of algae grows? Beneficial for the symbiosis of the micro-Gs?
Hi thankyou for the video, can you pull the plants out instead of cutting them and consume the roots too please and thankyou 😊
I would not, the water has been sitting for a week and it is in nutrients, not for consumption.
@@KeepOnGrowin thankyou very much for your reply. That's brilliant thankyou.
What is in your water that pour on your plants.

❤❤❤ thank you for sharing everything
Do you sterilize your seeds before growing?
I do not
Thank you
Do you wash and dry the seeds before putting them in?
no
Wondering if oui jars are too small. Have so many.
We have used those several times.
Hi 👋 Can I ask what the "master blend" is please?
It is a fertilizer used for traditional and hydroponic gardens. Here is my video ua-cam.com/video/SaN6Dlf2hCg/v-deo.html
Can you use any seeds to do microgreen for sprouting
I like how you maximize your greens
Look for one of my recent videos on seeds. I explain a lot in that video.
years ago I ate radish microgreens on a sandwich ! delicious !
Soooo good!
Hey can I use clay bowls instead of glass?
yes, they just evaporate faster
Which seeds are use to grow microgreens.
For the most part, you can search for seeds that are labeled as “microgreen.” However you can also sprout legume seeds like lentils or mung beans.
Is it safe to add a !% hydrogen peroxide solution to the water in the jar containing the pebbles, to prevent mold?
You can try. Keep me updated.
I would love it if you would share the discount store name you found the glass bowls! Thank you in advance
I don't know. They just bring things in and dump them in bins. Starts at $10 one day and drops to $1 by Wed.
Sounds like a Florida flea market to me … if you search discount glass bowls you should find some deals…you’ll also find glass pipes so you may have to refine your search lol
Can you use ordinary seeds or it should be microgreen seeds?
microgreen seeds are cheaper for bulk. You can use regular but it will cost a lot to do any volume.
I love this.
Has anyone tried MARPHYL Organics? Phytoplankton.
Just curious are clay pepples re- usable?
yes
Awesome I'm ordering them!
Please grow a plant all the way out in a bigger glass jar with the balls. I think it will work.
Love this!!👍🙄💖
Great job Mike!
Why do you need nutrients for microgreens? Seeds have everything needed to get to this stage.
I guess you didn't watch.
Wow Mike one of the best informational videos thank you🩷👍🏼✝️🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬
Is there a reason u put them in the sun before harvest? Or was it just to play with the gnomes? 😂
Have to keep the Gnomes happy.
Pant your jars and bowls.
No need to. You can paint yours if you like.
interesting( ness )
