- In this the third year to post the Oak Mountain High School Drum Line's favorite stand tune, a snare solo is featured. These high school students enjoy bringing excitement to the entire band usually in the third or fourth period of the football games. It allows the drummers to showcase their skills and have a little fun! Please keep any comments clean and constructive, ok? Thanks and enjoy!

To think I almost played low brass, but I chose percussion over it. That's one decision I'll never regret.
They are lucky that they can drop their sticks and know that they wont fall under the bleachers without fear that a little kid may pick it up and run.

I played football all through highschool and one of my favorite things were the drums playing while coming down the hill to the field. Not a lot of players say it, but I appreciate the band and all the people that do it.

I’m sad that my 8th grade year is almost over because I didn’t have an actual middle school experience because covid hit when I was in 6th, but I’m kind of ready for high school I guess ? I know it’s a whole different animal in high school but I mean like band is one of the few classes I know I’m going to like 💀😭 so in excited for that

Whhaaaa? What planet are you from? Tenors naturally get more attention than snares and basses. Because people see more drums and automatically think that means better.

+Daniel Ely you think they can't be heard? obviously who ever you listened to plays with stick height of like .005. tenors are very easily heard in a line with good instrumentation.
+Alex Morgan no not over snares and crash symbals, and one person in our drumline would always smack the rim on the bass drum, he went throught 3 mallets

I appreciate seeing a drumline have fun like this! But folks: if you are looking for really good high school drumlines that are clean and play more challenging music, they are out there. This drumline is okay, but certainly not the best.
Richard Spalding Mr. Spalding, I see these comments that come in criticizing this little video and typically just take it with a grain of salt. This is a high school band playing a fun stand tune (two years ago at that). But to my knowledge as the person who videoed, edited, and posted this, no one has claimed that they are the best. I appreciate the comment about the group having fun...that is what this is about....not a competition, not meant to be perfect, just some fun. I encourage you to post perhaps videos of you or your band playing "clean" and more challenging pieces...believe me, the critics are ready for you...have fun.

But my comment about the quality of the drumline was directed toward people making comments about how good this line is. Like I said, it's cool to see a band having this much fun in the stands. However, if there are drummers who are blown away by this to the point where they are singing this line's praises - as a drummer, I simply felt compelled to steer those drummers toward drumlines who play more difficult music cleanly.

I wish the people criticizing them would stop,it's a high school drumline,they're not the Carolina crown or the blue devils.And plus,not everyone is perfect,everyone plays on the drum head differently,they don't play the same way.
You're not supposed to all play on the head differently. And it's kinda bad to perform outside your skill level. The snares need to slow it down and go back to basics with a metronome. 4 quarter notes played well are way better than 16 16th notes played like garbage. It sounds like they learned the groove but don't actually practice.
If I'm not mistaken, the guy wearing the blue cookie monster hat in the first Jig 2 video was in all three videos...since he is wearing a rose, I believe this video was during his senior year

I don't think those guys have actually marched those drums. If they had, the tenor guy closest to the camera probably wouldn't be twisting so much. And the snares can't even play clean diddles at 140-150. It's fun I guess, but sloppy.

We had to play Jig 2 for our highschool football games when I was in band... I was actually in middle school in 6th grade through 8th grade, and playing with the high schoolers. I was that good 😂😂😂 I played bass for 6th, snare for 7th and the beginning of 8th, then played tenors for the rest of 8th

They have such a big band I would love that for us but my teacher always says big bands don’t get a lot of help like smaller bands but there is many thinks bad about our or any small band but I’m thankful for mine but these are talented people
I work in a high school and my room is across the hall from the band room and I get to hear this kind of thing A LOT and I love every precious minute.

I get it they weren't very clean 100% of the time but they're just having fun. Anyone who's actually in a drumline knows that stands tunes aren't as consistent as the halftime show as awesome as that tune was. This isn't a college drumline. Stop criticizing them after hearing one damn song
