Thanks Tony Bennett. You were one of the greatest singers in the world! Your songs bring me peace. My musical's life had changed when I met your musics. RIP, God bless you endlessly.
Tony sells it. He feels it. He IS the song and the songbird. This song is so lovely and so sexy. So reminiscent of days gone by. I can hardly watch it without crying. Godspeed and RIP old friend.
It's hard for me to watch this without tears. When I was like 7, dad had a 45 vinyl of this song. It was my favorite song and played it repeatedly. Now I'm 62, and dad long gone but this song reminds me of him. One of the best human beings I've ever known....Thank you Tony Bennett.
I relate to your story 100%. Same age as you 😊 my Dad played this record along with the Feank Sinatras, etc. He is also no longer with me, but this music brings back happy memories of my youth. ❤
We have been lucky enough to enjoy decades of several of them. I will go with a few not in particular order here: Tony Bennett, I Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Steve Lawrence and Vic Damone, Johnny Mathis and Jack Jones. If I left any out, my apologies, these guys were absolutely the finest, and there’s nobody on the scene now that belongs in the company of these great singers. Fortunately, we are left with much recorded material from all of them, including video.
I remember this like it was yesterday, It was on a TV variety show and this wonderful performance always stuck with me; What feeling!! what a voice. Tony Bennett !!
An American icon serenades us all with a sublime composition... we will all be remembering the shadow of your marvelous, tender, love-filled voice dear Tony. Bravo Mr. Anthony Dominick Benedetto.
Tony Bennett (RIP) The intense Musically width and breadth in this one presentation, from Composition, Arrangement - Intro....is beyond measure (no pun intended); just the Story-telling musical-lyrical Intro is just incredibly beautiful. ❤
Such a thrill, honor, and magical wonder to not only meet, but also come to be-friend and hang out over a couple years during his big come back from 92 to 94. He was my favorite before that, and remains so today - likely forever. Love to you, Tony! ❤ Yeah, Dino, Frank, Sammy - you are legends and tops with me forever too..
SEMPRE
I had the privilege of seeing Tony Bennet perform twice in the last 5 yrs. First @ Ravinia near Chicago w/ his daughter. Amazing! Then in Peoria, IL. Yes! He played in Peoria, MAGNIFICENTLY! He’s a legend, icon and a fellow Italian American 🇮🇹🇺🇸Mille Grazie Paisano, Tony Benedetto, for all the music & magic you’ve given to us all these many years. Un Caro Saluto, Mary Zavarella Walker 🎾❤
For my MOM and my SISTER. ❤❤❤. this song reminds me of them. I feel really, really sad when i hear this song. To my sister, i hope we would have grown old together.
The shadow of your smile When you are gone Will color all my dreams And light the dawn Look into my eyes My love and see All the lovely things You are to me Our wistful little star Was far too high A teardrop kissed your lips And so did I Now when I remember spring All the joy that love can bring I will be remembering The shadow of your smile Now when I remember spring All the joy that love can bring I will be remembering The shadow of your smile
He was from the same part of Queens as my family (Astoria). My mother was in his sister Mary's class and an aunt in his. Our uncle went to hairdressing school with his brother John. His mother Anna and my grandmother Vita were seamstresses at the same company in NYC in the 30s and 40s. When we met him in the late 70s and early 80s, we became friends over the years. He was the most humble and gracious of men, as famous and revered as he was, he remained a regular guy from Queens. No air of show business swirled around him. He was blessed to have lived a full and accomplished life and deserved every second of it.
The Shadow of Your Smile (One day we walked along the sand, one day in early spring You held a piper in your hand to mend its broken wing Now I'll remember many a day and many a lonely mile The echo of a piper's song, the shadow of her smile) The shadow of your smile When you are gone Will color all my dreams and light the dawn Look into my eyes my love and see All the lovely things you are to me Our wistful little star was far too high A teardrop kissed your lips and so did I Now when I remember spring All the joys that love can bring I will be remembering The shadow of your smile

When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes
My love and see
