I actually looked it up. This could be considered a Monolocke: Only Pokémon that have a certain type may be caught and used in the player’s team. Sometimes referred to as the “gym leader challenge”.
@@Chara_Dreemurr1 Dragon is probably the hardest monotype challenge to do, if only because there are so few dragons and it usually takes quite a while before you can catch your first dragon. Not sure when your earliest encounter with a dragon is in Galar, but I think USUM might be the game where you can have a Dragon type the earliest, Noibat in Verdant Cavern, after you beat the Totem Raticate/Gumshoos, although your starter will probably be about level 12-14 at that point so still a bit far in compared to other monotype challenges. There are only 6 types that you can do a monotype locke with where you CANNOT use your starter and have to replace it with the first encounter of your chosen type (at least if you're strict, casuals like Young Yong can still keep the original starter I guess), and these types are Bug, Dragon, Rock, Normal, Ice and Electric. Okay, actually, Normal and Electric Nuzlockes CAN be done with your starter if you play Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, obviously, so there are actually FOUR types you really CAN'T do strictly with your starter included. While Charizard does become a Fire/Dragon type in Mega evolution, you cannot choose Charizard as an original starter in a game where that form is accessible, plus I do not count Megas as being part of a monotype locke, since that's a temporary and optional form. None of the starters ever gain the Bug, Ice or Rock type, not even in alternate forms, so a Buglocke and Rocklocke must get a new starter as soon as possible. Bugs are usually found in the first or second route of the game, so that's easy enough. Rocks can also often be found pretty early, like Geodude in Ravaged Path or Oreburgh Gate in Sinnoh, Geodude in Route 46 or Dark Cave in Johto, Roggenrola in Wellspring Cave in Unova (though first Relic Passage in B2/W2 after getting 2 badges damn), Route 8 for Dwebble/Binacle in Kalos (which is also surprisingly late), Geodude in Mt. Moon in Kanto (also first accessible after getting the first badge), Geodude/Aron/Nosepass in Granite Cave in Hoenn (also after first badge), Roggenrola/Carbink/Rockruff in Ten Carat Hill in Alola (after beating the first Kahuna), and Chewtle in Route 2 in Galar. Okay, so in some regions Rock types are found pretty early while in others they're a bit late. Ice types are pretty much ALWAYS late game, though you may be able to find a few Pokémon early on that later become Ice, such as Crabrawler in Alola, Eevee (as early as you can get anyway), and I guess Vanillite in Rolling Fields in Galar during snowy weather. It appears the earliest Dragon types you can acquire in SwSh are in Rolling Fields as Dynamax battles, being Noibat/Axew/Jangmo-o/Goomy/Trapinch/Applin/Dreepy, in Den 37 (Common)/Den 64 (Rare). In fact, this den seems to be exclusively Dragon-types. Not sure what levels they typically are, but this would definitely be the earliest point where you can get a Dragon type for your Dragonlocke. Basically, when it comes to monotype challenges that are not Water, Grass or Fire, you gotta see which game you can use your starter with your chosen type (Steellocke = Piplup in Sinnoh, Fairylocke = Popplio in Alola, etc.), and if your chosen type is either Bug, Ice, Rock or Dragon, choose the region where you can get a Pokémon of that type the earliest, and perhaps preferably as many as possible. As we've seen, Galar is suitable for a Buglocke and Dragonlocke as well, and I think the best region to do an Icelocke in. I think Galar might also be the best region for a Rocklocke, as you can both find a Chewtle (which becomes Rock at 22) in Route 2, and you can also find 12 total Rock lines in Galar, depending on your version, but at least still about 10 lines. It's tough to find another region with a good amount of Rock types in it... Omg why did I write so much so sorry I'll stop now XD
@@Rubywing4 I'm not that strict. I'm planning ghost and dragons. While also allowing the first Pokemon I encounter. Also it probably won't be a nuzlocke. We will see. And I will be allowed to catch as many dragon and ghost types I want. I am not that strict. So if it is a nuzlocke. I will allow multiples of the same species. As to show how some Pokemon are better when you have extra members of said species. Because then. You get to experience the training of the first one all over again and get EVEN MORE ATTACHED. MAKING YOU FEEL AS IF THIS ONE IS THE MOST PRECIOUS ONE. I'm not super strict. And I will allow some things. BUT NO ITEMS IN BATTLE. I'M ALLOWED TO USE THE CAMPSITE BECAUSE EASIER EXP. Id say a good bet for a poison run would be gen 1 or 2. There are lots of poison types accessible early on in both games like gastly, tentacool, and if you’re not playing red, bellsprout.

Very true. It more paves the way for others to do so. It’s not copying, she inspired others who have this sort of passion and showed that it can be successful on UA-cam. Even if you don’t really care for Pokémon, these are just funny and brilliant animations.

It's a pretty good format for telling a Nuzlocke story too! You don't have to write a full comic series (though those are always fun!), you can also make a short animation showing your journey too!

5:50 I remember my first playthrough In my first raid den i got a sizzlipede and and the joy I had catching it!! It ended up replacing my starter at the end of the game 😅

That was the first video I've seen from Yong and now I've binged his channel. He's really funny. A kinda mix of domics and odd1out with his own flavor in the mix.
Young Yong Tales' video inspired me to do a nuzlocke of Pokémon Sword on my own while on vacation. And it was so much fun. I'm not really good at Pokémon so i got humbled real hard by Raihan and lost like like 10 other Pokèmon on the way there.
I've seen his video of his yugioh adventures and the fact that he loves yugioh just....I love it. I also grew up with it. And I still watch it every once in a while The fact that he named Escavaliar GAIA after Yugis Fierce Knight is dope.
The Shield Nuzlocke I’m running has one of my favorite team members: an Orbeetle named Ladybird. She was amazing. She was strong and tanky. I love her. I gotta get back to that Nuzlocke.
So the reason Young Yong likes bugs is mainly due to his actual pet bug collection, he talks about how he’s allergic to fur and feathers so he found bugs as another option as pets.
Oh yeah he loves bugs alright, he talked all about his pet mantis he had before, or how much he tried his best to main Kha'Zix in LOL, alongside other bug pets he had before and stuff. He's pretty fun to watch, been following Young Yong Tales for months now, still love him. ^^
When I saw this video myself for the first time, I almost immediately thought: "This is definitely a video aDrive will want to see and react to." Very happy to see that you indeed reacted to it. :3 I don't really know myself which type I love the most, so far I've only done a Waterlocke as a monotype challenge, but I definitely want to do more. Water was pretty fun. Bug looks pretty fun too. My favorite Pokémon is Flygon, and I do love dragons, but at the same time, Flygon is kinda a bug as well, should've been Bug/Dragon and not Ground/Dragon. My second favorite is Ampharos, which also becomes a dragon in Mega evolution and resembles a dragon normally, with its Japanese name, Denryu, meaning "electric dragon" or "electric current". I do love dragons, but I'm not sure if the Dragon type is my favorite... I might not have a favorite type, actually. I love all Pokémon, mostly thanks to the Nuzlockes I've played (11 so far). My favorite Bug type is Ninjask, always has been, though for a while I thought it was Volcarona, but after using Ninjask again in two different Nuzlocke runs (Y and Alpha Sapphire), I rediscovered my love for Ninjask - in my first run of Alpha Sapphire, I actually ended up abandoning my Starter Blaziken and just solo'ed most of the region with my Ninjask, which ended up overleveled and the rest of my team underleveled, and it was awesome. In my current Alpha Sapphire Nuzlocke, I have reached the League and prepared for it, and my team consists of my Blaziken, Walrein, Manectric, Cradily, Sableye and Ninjask, and they are the ones who are gonna get me through the Elite Four and help me beat the Champion. I actually had my Ninjask SOLO Norman's team, where she was level 30, taking down his weak Slaking with Digs, his Vigoroth with Aerial Ace, and then ran out of Digs on the stronger Slaking, having to resort to Aerial Aces, thus tanking TWO Chip Aways, and after she singlehandedly beat Norman, she earned my respect and I kept her on the team. I had resorted to her because my Golbat died in the last battle before he could evolve into Crobat, and I had no other Flying types than my Ninjask, and she can't even Fly, which is really unfair. How come ALL the Bug/Flying type Pokémon are unable to learn Fly?! When things like Doduo, a FLIGHTLESS bird, and Vullaby, a BABY bird that is explicitly stated in its Pokédex entry to be UNABLE TO FLY, CAN BOTH FLY! It just makes no sense, as bugs are very strong and would certainly be capable of carrying a human child. Not to mention that Volcarona, a Bug/Fire type, CAN learn Fly despite being a Bug and NOT Flying. Anyway, Ninjask is awesome, and bugs are awesome, will probably try a Buglocke myself at some point, along with lockes of all the other types at some points.
@@pandoraspixel3367 I did my Waterlocke in vanilla Platinum, and it went really well. I decided to make my first monotype challenge Water because: 1. Water only has 2 weaknesses 2. Platinum has like 17 or 18 different Water lines you can catch. 3. Water type combos can easily cancel out its own weaknesses via Water/Flying (Gyarados) and Water/Ground (Gastrodon). My League team ended up being Empoleon, Gyarados, Mantine, Tentacruel, Quagsire and Octillery. I ended up losing the Octillery to Aaron's Heracross (crit Megahorn + Close Combat I think) and my Quagsire to Lucian's Gallade (he predicted my switch and landed Leaf Blade). And then I swept Cynthia's team with my Dragon Dancing Gyarados. Tentacruel got 2x Toxic Spikes on Bertha (during Whiscash), Flint (during Houndoom) and Lucian (during Mr. Mime) and made me respect Tentacruel a lot more. And my Mantine survived a hit that I thought was going to kill her, from Bronzong, and then took it out. Other than my Quagsire and Octillery, I only lost my Whiscash, against Cyrus' Houndoom, first getting burned by Will-O-Wisp so Earthquake didn't take it out (because Houndoom's defense is lower than Sp.Def, so I figured EQ would do it), and then Whiscash got crit by Dark Pulse, took out the Houndoom, and then died to burn damage. My team also became physically fairly defensive because I mostly trained against Graveler and Onix/Steelix which gave me Defense EVs, so my Mantine ended up having almost as much Defense as Special Defense... Oops, I'm probably talking a bit too much XD I did record my Waterlocke League battles on my phone and then uploaded them to UA-cam (though I didn't notice that the phone split the video into three videos, so the beginning of the Cynthia battle is missing the Dragon Dance setup and Gyarados getting injured), if you're interested to see... ^^
In my very first sword gameplay (save that I will never, ever erase even if the world falls), in my final formation I had the little glacial beetle ... It's made of sandpaper, but it's a beautiful Pokémon. 😍 along with Galarian Rapidash is one of my favorite Pokémon from that region.
Bug type Pokémon lovers are always a positive source of love and entertainment. Also I started a nuzlock which I’m restarting it so this time I can do it properly may do a type run but I’m not sure. The bait was honestly pretty damn good.
YoungYongTales' fondness for Bug-types makes more sense if you watch some of his other videos--he loves real life bugs too, and has kept a bunch of them as pets, and a recent video he made reveals that his Centiskorch was named after a real centipede he had as a pet once.
Here's a thought - since both you and Young Yong Tales like Bug types so much, maybe you could try doing a Soul-Link together if you'd both have an interest in it! Just a random idea. ;D
Just to say something real quick, maybe you 2 should have a nuzlocke showdown but you can only catch bug type pokemon and you can only use other pokemon if they have a bug type move.
Oh yeah, sizzlipede was so annoying to get as an encounter in the game. Thank god the 3rd gym gives you one for free, that is if you decide to catch it, which you definitely should.
When the new gen 8 pokédex were revealed prior to SwSh coming out, I saw Centiskorch and knew I was going to use it, but when I played it, I didn't know where to get it so when I found it in the 3rd gym I was really happy.
I never did nuzlockes before so when I got Pokèmon Sword I decided to nuzlocke it on my first journey through only to realize it was SOOOO easy only losing 2 Pokèmon
I remember freaking out when he added his blipbug since I have had an Orbettle on my Sword team and I usually use one pokemon from route one the entire game.
When I actually saw this video before anyone reacted too it for once. Also as soon as I saw the video I was just like Adrive and them would be bug collecting besties
I wouldn't count it as a Nuzlocke as the point of a Nuzlocke is that which pokemon you can use is taken out of your hands. However, a permadeath challenge run is still an accomplishment, so the fact it's not really a Nuzlocke shouldn't get him down.
There's so much foreshadowing in this video When he says he doesn't find a Sizzlepede his eyes go wide in the last frame (as he sees it) He mentions he can't get Escavalier from evolving and later is in the phone (to whoever he trades it with) after beating Raihan There's so much god damn detail
I love that fact that most people dont realize that his skroopie and glisopod are both named from league of legends. Skarner is a champ that looks like a praying mantis and herold looks like the rift herold hense the picture that showed up when glisopod evolved
I was doing a Platinum Nuzlocke lately As soon as I took my Kricketune off my team everything started going downhill and I eventually was bested I should never have taken out my lucky cricket, I apologize Jimmy, not just you though Jimmy Turt Blaze Spark Falco Master Squishy I’m sorry…all of you
12:14 just realized that the guy with purple hair is Stephen who was from Danplan and I’m assuming the other one is Hossa since Dan usually has green hair and not blue
You should do a video on how to do a nuzlocke like how to set it up and some of the background footage of how you set up your videos and be pretty interesting to watch I do my own videos on my channel but yours is quite a bit different you got more experience
Honestly, if you challenge him to a Pokémon battle, it would be pretty interesting. Seeing how your bug professions end. Interesting bug Pokémon actually compare.

Anyway, Ninjask is awesome, and bugs are awesome, will probably try a Buglocke myself at some point, along with lockes of all the other types at some points.
a WaterLocke, Is Genuinely broken. Just the Whole Rain Strategy can beat some hard rom hacks. Like Radical Red or Unbound or Inclement emerald
@@pandoraspixel3367 I did my Waterlocke in vanilla Platinum, and it went really well.
I decided to make my first monotype challenge Water because:
1. Water only has 2 weaknesses
Oops, I'm probably talking a bit too much XD
I did record my Waterlocke League battles on my phone and then uploaded them to UA-cam (though I didn't notice that the phone split the video into three videos, so the beginning of the Cynthia battle is missing the Dragon Dance setup and Gyarados getting injured), if you're interested to see...
The pokemon battle to end all pokemon battles: This battle will be legendary!
Dan didn't get the Demon Slayer reference with the backpack/box I dont think he did anyway lol
he didn't
Yupp lol went right over his head he should watch some of these animes atleast then he'd know some of the references when he sees them.
Yeah ik lol. He seems to know some tho so I assume he doesn't hate it completely.
Bug type Pokémon lovers are always a positive source of love and entertainment. Also I started a nuzlock which I’m restarting it so this time I can do it properly may do a type run but I’m not sure. The bait was honestly pretty damn good.
Jaiden: Makes Nuzlocke videos
All other animator youtubers: Is this the latest trend?
Edit: IT'S A JOKE PEOPLE
I mean it’s a fun thing to animate and do though, it’s like a double challenge :3 triple if you include scripting
Jaiden is basically the whole insperation, if it weren't for her i would have never done my own (which i won)
What's wrong with being inspired by another youtuber to try something too? Jesus you people make youtube the worst. "OMG IT'S COPYING" Shut up
@@Iwantbilliespubes56 HAIL YEAH I'm gonna do a nuzlocke of brilliant diamond when I get it
I very much want it to be lol. Nuzlockes make for a great device to tell a fun story, I want ALL animators to make Nuzlock videos :D
YoungYongTales' fondness for Bug-types makes more sense if you watch some of his other videos--he loves real life bugs too, and has kept a bunch of them as pets, and a recent video he made reveals that his Centiskorch was named after a real centipede he had as a pet once.
The art with rough edges for some of the Pokémon was insane
Here's a thought - since both you and Young Yong Tales like Bug types so much, maybe you could try doing a Soul-Link together if you'd both have an interest in it! Just a random idea. ;D
Adrive thinking well I will met him and do crossover with him
Not a huge fan of bug types but I think it still has really cool Pokémon
Just to say something real quick, maybe you 2 should have a nuzlocke showdown but you can only catch bug type pokemon and you can only use other pokemon if they have a bug type move.
A lot of non-Bug Pokémon can learn Bug moves, that rule would open up a lot of options.
Petition to rename Buglocke to Buzz-locke
Oh yeah, sizzlipede was so annoying to get as an encounter in the game. Thank god the 3rd gym gives you one for free, that is if you decide to catch it, which you definitely should.
When the new gen 8 pokédex were revealed prior to SwSh coming out, I saw Centiskorch and knew I was going to use it, but when I played it, I didn't know where to get it so when I found it in the 3rd gym I was really happy.
I don’t know if you know this but his centiscorch Grievous is named after a centipede he had in real life as a pet
That showdown with Jaiden gave me the chills
you're genuine excitement and giddiness was fantastic
I really hope the man gets a larvesta. Volcarona quickly became my favorite bug Pokemon when he came out. Commenting early.
Its nice to see that there are other Bug Catchers out there!
I never did nuzlockes before so when I got Pokèmon Sword I decided to nuzlocke it on my first journey through only to realize it was SOOOO easy only losing 2 Pokèmon
I think 3D pokemon games are easier to nuzlocke due to certain features.
Like Pokemon Amie can give your Pokemon a chance to survive attacks at 1 HP.
when you already watched this video, but you rewatched it because the animation was awesome and the reaction was funny
@aDrive Sizzlepede on route 1 is a 1% encounter BUTT in the fire Gym it's a GUARANTEED encounter
YES!!!! Thank you for this, loved it!!
I actually beat the game with sizzlepeed and it’s eveloutions to the point that even facing water I still won…
My god! This guy finally changed my mind about Bug-type Pokémon's!
Thank you for this video!
In my first sword nuzlocke, I lost 6 To 1 to that charizad
I remember freaking out when he added his blipbug since I have had an Orbettle on my Sword team and I usually use one pokemon from route one the entire game.
Ive always questioned why crustle's face looks like exactly like this :(
Whats he so sad about? Does it know something we dont?
Crustle knows they can never be with their hippodow friend anymore.
I also love many bug types like Vikavolt and I loved the ending when jerry survived like a champ go jerry!!!!!
I've been shiny hunting for a rowlet for 7 hours:')
When I first watched this guy's video I was also in the middle of a Buglocke of pokemon shield.
We need crossover with him you and jaiden
*me searching up bug only nuzlocke because I haven’t watched you for years but I still know you love bugs*
When I actually saw this video before anyone reacted too it for once. Also as soon as I saw the video I was just like Adrive and them would be bug collecting besties
I LOVED YOUNG YOUNGS BUG POKEMON JOURNEY!!
Yo this animation is epic and the gym music is awesome
I wouldn't count it as a Nuzlocke as the point of a Nuzlocke is that which pokemon you can use is taken out of your hands. However, a permadeath challenge run is still an accomplishment, so the fact it's not really a Nuzlocke shouldn't get him down.
That's not really a hard rule though.
12:28 so are we jost going to skip over gen 5 with volcorona, leavany, scolipede, accelgor, crustle, escalvier, larvesta, and mothur flipping genesect
Figured Adrive would go crazy over someone doing a monobug locke 😂😂
13:03 "giant pokemon" wow such foreshadowing
legends arceus
The phone call before he said he needed to prepare for the battle was the guy that traded with him
There's so much foreshadowing in this video
When he says he doesn't find a Sizzlepede his eyes go wide in the last frame (as he sees it)
He mentions he can't get Escavalier from evolving and later is in the phone (to whoever he trades it with) after beating Raihan
There's so much god damn detail
Yh I noticed those 2 details the second time I watched it.
just love the music whrn he reveal the centiscorch
I watched this before I went to sleep and now I have bug dragonair dreams.
I'm having the best laughs ever with all my favorite Pokemons
I think all of us would pay to see a fan game with 23:01 being the final fight
I love that fact that most people dont realize that his skroopie and glisopod are both named from league of legends. Skarner is a champ that looks like a praying mantis and herold looks like the rift herold hense the picture that showed up when glisopod evolved
Jerry, The True Underdog Story.
I think he did surprisingly well for his first nuzlock although it wasn’t pure bug type
Go joltik attack wobbuffet
Oh no you died? There was no way to prevent this
Amazing video! Enjoyed it!
Grew to love bugs when i did a casual bug run :D now it's one of my favorite types
I was doing a Platinum Nuzlocke lately
As soon as I took my Kricketune off my team everything started going downhill and I eventually was bested
I should never have taken out my lucky cricket, I apologize Jimmy, not just you though Jimmy
Turt
Blaze
Spark
Falco
Master
Squishy
I’m sorry…all of you
Bug types are my 3rd favorite type so this is inspiring me to do a bug only nuzlock
Then I’ll do a ghost one probably a psychic one next
“I’m pretty sad though he didn’t get scizlepede “ a few moments later KONO NANI
After watching this video I suddenly feel the urge to do my first nuzlocke with only bug types.
Pokémon evolutions: cat - lion - walking luchondour
Digimon evolutions: cat - dinosaur - fridge with mini gun
Lol
12:14 just realized that the guy with purple hair is Stephen who was from Danplan and I’m assuming the other one is Hossa since Dan usually has green hair and not blue
The way Young says "Out of my way" reminds me of Shadow the Hedgehog for some reason
I’m loving his Tofu block style character designs
You should do a video on how to do a nuzlocke like how to set it up and some of the background footage of how you set up your videos and be pretty interesting to watch I do my own videos on my channel but yours is quite a bit different you got more experience
God that centiscorch vs centiscorch is ALWAYS insane, I just love everything about it
omg that Skorupi in the thumbnail is so cute
Yeah Young Yong LOVES bugs! They are his favorite pet irl and he has raised so many!
He's not wrong about the backpack. It does look like the box Tanjiro carries Nezuko in
Honestly, if you challenge him to a Pokémon battle, it would be pretty interesting. Seeing how your bug professions end. Interesting bug Pokémon actually compare.
Bro you and Young Yong should totally do a bug type cross over... maybe a cagelock?
“And Jerry with rocks” famous line ever
