Yes, great information on Shingyi. This really shows the differences of simplistic and easily learned martial arts to the complexities of mastering the internal forms.
"Qi Jing Ba Mai" refers to the 8 Extraordinary Meridians (Extra Meridians), which are Chong Mai, Ren Mai, Du Mai, Dai Mai, Yang Qiao Mai, Yin Qiao Mai, Yang Wei Mai and Yin Wei Mai. They are the first energy channels that are formed in a living person, starting with Chong Mai. In healing, they are treated with respect and not opened up frequently because the kind of healing they generate can be very powerful. Unless the pulse indicates a problem with the channel along with physical, emotional or mental problems, and if you don't have a competent teacher/healer, you should not play around with those things. It seems though that you are learning from some really great teachers, so keep up the good work and enjoy! 😁
Regardless of what you think of gong fu's practicalities in self-defense or combat setting, you can't deny the depth and subtility of the Chinese culture. Thank you for this very educative video.
Very interesting, I found your conversation with the older gentleman very candid and informative....he seems like a very knowledgeable and straightforward man!
Anyone else notice normal length pole arms? Most martial arts places have very short pole arms. Maybe they work in urban areas, but pole arms were generally meant to be used in open areas where the reach gave an advantage.
Forgive the ignorance, but are you talking about 6.5 ft poles as "normal" because I thought that was a Fujian/southern standard where as "up north" they'd be much longer. ???
. @@Livingtree32 Well its pretty obvious from the context. Where else would they be talking about up down movements in the video. don't get so salty hahaha
Wooww, I loved the interview and, Xing Yi Liuhe practicing family history! Xing Yi's spears are magnificent! Loved the explanation of Yin and Yang energy use! Congratulations, you did a great job !!!!
Thanks for sharing, very seldom the teacher explain about Yin Yang application. Even though its not detail but really awesome. If you can make another video from this master which explain the Yin Yang in more depth and detail, it will be perfect.
At 13:08 master Song make a reference to qijing bamai, translated as "7 meridian and 8 channel". I would suggest a more accurate translation as "eight extraordinary vessels" 奇經八脈, a well known term in Chinese medicine. By the way, thanks for the great work you're doing.
It is not just a change from upward to downward in the technique of pushing! It is a change in the quality of the energy, from yin to yang or from yang to yin. That is what the younger Song family member tried to show.
Markos Lagos, Why? I checked out hiddenfist’s website, all they teach is MMA sport fighting, and a bit of some unknown Bagua style. They don’t offer any Xingyi instruction Song style or otherwise.
I genuinely found the yin to beat yang and vice versa confusing theoretically. I need further explanation otherwise it’s kind of a heads I win tails you lose. Great video as always.
In this case, Yin means the chest and Yang the back. Yin also means upwards and Yang downwards. So its about the direction of power and where that power is generated from. When you combine them together its just the direction of force changing within a movement.
Its confusing cause they don't really get it. People like this just talk and theorize, they can't fight. I've met too many in the Kung Fu world. They can't perform the actions so they theorize. Jiu Jitsu is the best sandbox to really understand what they are trying to explain. You could learn what they are trying to get at by years of hard sparring too but you would most likely end up brain damaged before you get there.
Hello Friend! These are amazing images, thank you so much for sharing, I am a biggest fan of your channel! I will be very happy the day you look at my channel. I'm grateful! Xing Yi is an amazing and powerful style ... I like this body work that is done while practicing ... this relaxation and, blast, xing yi has a powerful Qi Gong!
Chinese logic was always very hard to understand, for me - and I lived there for 13 yrs and had a Chinese family - so I can kind of understand why the song family classify power as yin or Yang, but my god that's one hell of a complicated way of thinking (when you throw animals in there too) 🙂
. The difference is that the song Family is cultured, and the Che Family is not hahahahaha (there may be a hint of truth in that from the impression I get from one of the characters in the previous videos ;) P.S Song Style seems amazing, i want to learn it now, the Yin/Yang stuff was really cool. + I want to know how to use the door antler knives 9I do the Bagua ones, but there are Xingyi ones as wel!!!!!)

use the palm when the arm is swung in a arc or a circle. In a straight line the fist is most powerful
The down and up theory was something I have never heard before. Fascinating!
What exactly do you mean? When they talk about Yin Yang and their combinations?

Am I right or did Mr Song say that they'd essentially got copyright on gongfu moves? What was that talk of being registered since 2004?
For that weapon their grandfather designed

Would you be able to give a link to the website where I can find those deer antler knives

Hi Jon! When was this video taken?
Great video! Love this series, it's fascinating. On thing about this video, the subtitles that appear at minute 20:30 should come a bit later.
Since I saw him, Song Guag Hua is getting is old!
almost 90 now
Muito bom Xing y
that blob on the camera :P
One question is that how do you genetate power from the front?
also, 18:51 the subtitles are really out of sinc XD
Haha yea, was raining earlier
Front power is from the chest and ribcage
