I haven't had a shawl since I was a kid and my grandmama made me one. I recently got my first dog and need something to throw on when I walk him and this is PERFECT. Thank you!!!
I love the technique of starting a project with foundation ovals.
Thank you!
A great tutorial for half circles. Same basic math for full circles. I never would have thought of this. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
love you Kristen , you're a great teacher.
I really like the oval foundation , I looks great. I always not liked the way mine turn out on a regular I've had afew I wasn't so proud of the look at the top middle. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial 😊
Thanks for sharing!!
Exciting that I am watching this video. Will be doing it with the Lion Brand Landscapes with a larger hook then the recommended by them so will be airy. Thank u. You are the best.
Have fun!
Kristin thank you for this easy beginners tutorial for the half circle crochet shawl. Lovely pattern. Blessings to you sweetheart.🤗😇
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Kristin!💕👍
You’re welcome!
I love your patterns, especially when I'm about to tackle a project that is probably beyond my capabilities! I'm trying to learn to crochet a graphghan, and I've finished my other projects. I'm yearning to crochet, but the dread of mistakes...froggy me, just makes me want to crochet along with you instead! Much love pretty lady!!! Thanks for everything!!! 💜💜💜
Frogging is part of learning! It’s ok!!
Beautiful and so much inspiration and versatility ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Great tutorial. Beautiful shawl. Thank you for sharing!💕
You’re welcome!
Really like this pattern!❤I had never seen the foundation oval before so happy to learn something new today! Hopefully one of many things learned for the day!❤❤ thank you!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching :)
Super! I made a cardigan that began similarly except the first row went into a magic ring. I think it lasted 6 months before the stress of the weight popped the circle. Your 3 ovals to start is clever!
I'm not a big fan of magic ring. Interesting to hear you say it doesn't hold up over time with wear. I may have to do a test and comparison in a video soon. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this ❤ it will make a beautiful shawl! You make the most beautiful gorgeous shawls that I have ever seen!!!❤
Thank you so much!
I have just come across your site and I love the tutorial for the half circle shawl. I've been looking for something simple and straightforward like this for ages. Wonderful, thank you!
I’m so glad! Welcome to my channel! Please let me know what else I can help you with :)
@@KristinOmdahl thank you very much. I'm trying to come up with ideas for a border. I'm relatively new to crochet so have an awful lot to learn still!
That was great! Thank you 💜🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really like this. This will be my next shawl. Thank you for sharing this with us.
You are so welcome! Let me know how yours turns out!!
Love this pattern! I do a lot of crochet wor for charity and this will be a lovely thing to gift. If worked in a circle it would make a cute top-down pointy hat too!
I have trouble keeping stitch counts correct.
One way I solve this is to write the number of stitches between increases down as I begin working a row in case I get inturrupted.
I know I could count the stitches I did previously on the row but sometimes my vision is poor.
When I don't feel like fussing with a paper and pen, I just add a stitch marker to the edge of the project for each stitch between increases as I begin a row.
🦦
Yes a stitch marker between repeats is very helpful, too!
Love your tutorials
Glad you like them!
HI,
THANK YOU FOR THIS EASY PATTERN.
You're welcome!
Beautiful thanks
Thank you!
Very beautiful Kristin. Please put in the Lefthand way please. Thank you.
Thank you! Will do!
Just fyi.....row 6 text on free pattern page is duplicate of row 5.....thanks for the gift giving inspiration💙
Ok thanks!
Kristin, after Row 5 of this video, shouldn't the transcript read "Continue by putting 1 more DC between each INCREASE" (not DECREASE)? I haven't seen the written pattern, so it may read INCREASE if that's correct. Thanks for all your help.
What do you mean by the transcript? Did I say decrease instead of increase? If so, yes it is a mistake of my spoken words. The pattern pages are correct.
@@KristinOmdahl Yes, you did say decrease; however, I knew that it should be increase but wondered if newbies would. FYI only. Thanks so much! Love your work.
Very beautiful. Would this work for lion brand mandala cake 3 weight yarn or is it too thin?
It’s a top down increasing shawl. Use any weight yarn with appropriate hook size and end it when the length is your desired length!
Thanks. I'm so intimidated to make it. But I will give it a try. Love that it's oval not a triangle.
Wonderful! Keep me posted :)
I tied it and it doesn't look good. I've not crocheted with anything less than a 4 weight so I'm having tension issues. I'm using a H hook like it recommends. I'm thinking of going down to a G. I feel like and it looks too loose and not tight like yours. I will retry and let you know. Thank you.
Nice (: How many yards are needed to make this? Thank you.
Follow link in video description to pattern page with all information you need. Thanks!
Would you send me this pattern please. I am 95 years old and would appreciate it very much.
I’m sorry she didn’t answer you. I need the pattern too.
