Figured i'd say this since there are a a lot of salty people commenting across your videos: If it's a bad product, DW will call it out. If it's a good product, DW will let you know. Ultimately, all games deserve to be remembered, for better or worse.
I wasn't expecting another Gears review today. But I'm glad to see your take on the Gears series. It didn't bother me all that much, but I really only liked the Aftermath campaign. And I just wish the main story was better constructed
Judgment is on PC technically. The gamepass ultimate streaming service includes it so you can play it that way in your browser. I did so for a couple of hours and found it a snorefest.
1337 moment at 13:37. With incredible moves such as this, I can see why she wasn't around in all the games set after this. At some point, running into the fire of a hand cranked gatling gun might just have an adverse effect on your health.
What's even funnier is that in Aftermath they explain her absence in that mini-episode with having been abducted by a group of Gears, and she's never been heard from in the series since.
I never got myself into the Gears of War series, despite being young and full of energy back then when its first game came out in 2006. I just couldn't get myself into playing the Gears of War games at all for some utterly baffling reason. Maybe it's most likely due to its over-the-top violence and gore, along with its ridiculously dumb story in general than other gaming franchises overall, such as Call of Duty, Halo, and Mass Effect, just to name a few, that led me to not actually play those GOW games one bit.
Played part of this on Gamepass and it wasn’t good. I can definitely see why the Gears of War community rejected it. Had a lot of fun with the other 3 though (especially the Hoard mode). It’s so weird that Microsoft haven’t made a bunch of Master Chief Collection style packages of their other games for current consoles/Steam. Those would basically print them money (same goes for Sony’s dormant/dead franchises). Thankfully, originally Xbox/360 emulation is progressing, and there’s this thing called Xwine1 that’s a compatibility layer for Windows that makes Xbox One games playable on normal Windows computers (the console ran on a stripped down version of Windows, and the program isn’t ready for public use yet).
On series x all the gears are 60fps. kind of insane how much better they all are with that. Gears 3 at 60 fps is one of the best third persons shooters ever imo. But at 30, no.
@@DWTerminator You'd think that after the Master Chief Collection porting the entire Gears series like that would be next on Microsoft's to-do list but apparently not. Then again they can't even be bothered to port Halo 5 so I guess it's not that out of character.
Oof not a very good review imo. The goal of the combat was to be more arcade-focused than the others. Honestly most of the negatives you brought up were just things they were doing intentionally, but yeah you're still right about a lot of the plotting/structure issues
@@DWTerminator in some cases sure, but when compared to the vast majority of third person shooters especially on 360 i don't think that's true. It's still impressive in its own right at times. But also if you don't even like the franchise then your view is tarnished from the start Edit: not meaning that in an inflammatory way
It's really not impressive at all for a third-person shooter in 2013, and is especially weak compared to the previous Gears games. You seem to be forgetting that and just trying to blame criticism of the game's faults on me not particularly caring about the franchise one way or the other.
@@DWTerminator well....with you not liking the games being the underlying sentiment the whole time, especially at the end, yeah that's pretty much what I'm saying
That is some of the worst gameplay I've ever seen. And yet the game just lets it go. Earlier games would have punished that, though I guess it does depend on the difficulty level.
Motion blur needs to be prohibited by law.

Late PS3/Xbox 360 shooters really makes you appreciate games like Timesplitters 2 with its stable 60fps.

The old Space Marine I love The Gears Series

I don't even remember you reviewing the first 3 GoW games
Gears 1 was a long time ago so I'll probably redux it eventually. Gears 2 & 3 were both back in 2015 though.
@@DWTerminator I don't remember you ever reviewing Gears 4. Only 1 to 3.
Typo. Meant "2 & 3." Fixed it.
@@DWTerminator Good job, buddy!

That 60fps boost is amazing and it helped me get into Gears 2, 3, and Judgement. Good games 🙂
That definitely sounds a lot better than what they were like on 360. Now they just need to get 2 & 3 on PC.

Hell they can't even be bothered to bring Gears 4 or Gears 1 Ultimate to Steam. They're still Windows Store exclusive.
The previous owner of my Xbox360 had the demo of this game!

I'm well aware they were doing those things intentionally. Their intentional choices were poor decisions that produced equally poor results.

Normal difficulty was never particularly punishing in any of the Gears games.
This game runs at 60fps on Series S.
