A larger scrub radius will increase the jacking from the caster on your leading wheel, that's probably why it's considered important for this setup. Imagine when you're on full lock the spindle on your leading wheel will be pointing towards the ground slightly, the further spaced-out your wheel is from that spindle the closer it will be to the ground = the more your wheel will jack the car up.
In my 4age ke70, I run 2.5° caster, 3° camber, zero toe, + 15mm LCA, t3 negative roll center adjusters (more scrub ratio) and pillowball caster tension rods, stock ae86 front and rear sway bar (with t3 drop kit) and rear traction brackets (only for grip trackdays and super high speed drifitng with nankang ns2r in front). For me the biggest change was to start drifting with less front tire to the point of running 165/60r14 front and 185/55r14 rear and it was fucking magical, super high speed drifting and it was impossible to spin out, just foot to the floor and clutch kicking like a mad man. Now I just run185/60r13 street tires all around and adjust tire pressure, usually I start from 28psi all around like a normal grip day and go up from there.
Yeah sick, I’ve definitely had this recommended, I considered just going to 175 shitters in the front but I liked the idea more of being able to achieve this result with tuning and geometry, that way the front still has grip when I want it and isn’t too at risk of under steering. The rest of my team run burners up front and love it but I believe that with the direction I’m going it’s going to feel just as good Thank you heaps for the run down on your setup, I’m loving the conversations that making these videos is starting
i play a drift game called carx, with the tuning in the game you can set all the suspension and suspension geometry ect. I know nothing about tuning but i notice how matsuri and ebisu cars are able to drift so easily and flawlessly. Applying what im learning from your videos to the game and my driving style in game has been helping heaps. Its crazy to me how well it transfers over, yes its a drift game but still its so cool to see and actually learn why the car handles how it does and how i can manipulate it to get my desired results
Really cool format you got going for this suspension setup series. Will most definitely be taking notes and trying to apply some things to my 86. That lip is killer by the way!
So i was learning suspension settings too a bit. What i saw in my rc drift car of what is happening with increasing wheel offset from its turning point is that when the wheel turns, it gets more compression on the spring, which means the inside tire has more load on it and which means more grip. Also on transitions with added offset you should get more leverage on your steering rack and the wheel would want to straighten up and in this case it would result an easier and faster transition
Tip with the front lip, should sand it before filler work so the filler will adhere better. Also use a block when sanding and where possible use a diagonal direction with the block. Will come out flatter.
Hey your channel is super great. Im well into 80s toyotas and 4age's. Ive got an 88 toyota minitruck and hope of one day putting a 4age into it. keep up the good work 👍
Loving the content! Giving me so much inspiration for my 2-door 4AGZE KE70 drift car :D I'm thinking about getting extended lowers, power steering knuckles, and i already have some rack spacers i want to fit. Been running stock angle for almost 6 years now, and really got used to the car. But i'd love some more angle.
Here is an easy way to understand jacking and scrub radius. Take a socket wrench and put a short socket on it, then tilt the socket on its head (camber) and pull the handle towards you (caster) and twist it to simulate steering. Repeat this with deeper socket/extensions and you will see the jacking effect/scrub radius play out.
On scrub rad, I’ve got an E46, it’s just got angle adaptors, E91 inner rods & offset LCA bushes. Running 17x8 et20. Fitted a 10mm spacer, purely for flush fit wheels, but it’s so, so much smoother in transition. Feels like there is less resistance in the “mid stroke” of steering wheel.
Have you thought about cutting the strut tower and welding it back in more towards the center for more camber? Keep the spacers and help clear the fender
w the scrub radius u have a wider front track at full angle making it more stable, also it makes the whole car swing n slingshot from the front. very handy to extend a drift for example where there is a long straight inbetween.
@@GOTIME-CO little hard to explain but i love the scrub. currently run 30mm extended lca's. made my own custom knuckles for angle/fast steer and ackerman correction. i kinda even need a rack stopper/limiter.... 8" wide wheel w 0 offset. really love the feel of it. cant wait to see you drifting this car soon. good luck on the driftmodding journey!! endless amounts of learning
@@GOTIME-CO almost forgot, i cut up and modded my subframe for steering rack relocation 30mm forward as well. the oem location on corolla's and s chassis is awfull for drifting. it looks like a hard mod to do but it's fairly easy tbh, totally worth doing i find.
Scrub radius theory sounds like it makes sense, regardless of how it feels i know for sure it looks mad, proper drift spec looking. Front lip came up so good with the bog and paint too
Its a lot of work, but you could cut and re weld the strut to the knuckle at an angle (preferably in a jig) for more camber. ive seen similar things done on s chassis where they slot the holes on the strut where it bolts to the knuckle to angle it in more.
So good Dylan. As usual. Might have to bring my corolla around again post roady and do some lowering. And maybe later down the line the 4ag head on 4ac conversion… Would be shit but a good time Merry Christmas bud!
@ mmmm but all the forces of your suspension acting on a tangent to their designed path, relying on threads in aluminium, I don’t really buy it personally, seen them give way before and that scares me
Once again great video. That KE70 looks great! Makes me want to build my ice track LADA to similar stance. Have you checked Chelsea Denofa's videos of "how to aligning any drift car" and "How to setup a solid axle for drifting"? Really good videos that explain things in easy to understand way. Learned that I have to try to adjust my Lada to 6-9° caster and leading wheel to 0° camber on 60% of max steering lock with 3-9mm toe out and acerman should be in 8-12° not that I can adjust it. Could be that this is common knowledge but I learned a lot. ua-cam.com/video/bwEc90vwz8M/v-deo.html.

Hell yeah great insight thank you
I actually love this Chanel so glad it got resurrected
Thank you heaps
No way Go Time not at 1 am.
Just for you my guy
@@GOTIME-CO I feal honored 🫡
I love how much I learn when watching your videos! There are so many things I would overlook or never realise had an impact on how the car behaves
Hell yeah thank you, glad you feel it helps
Love this type of super nerd content it’s so good
Keen to see this on the track at Halfway, keep up the mad videos!

Awesome that’s great to hear, thanks for the input
hope u feel better soon! ♥
Looks heaps good! Did look like there was a pinch of scrub on the brake hardline, might want to check on that!
Yesss, I think that was from before the spacer actually
I remember back in the days guys would run Cressida LCA, don't know if that's relevant.
Have you thought about cutting the strut tower and welding it back in more towards the center for more camber? Keep the spacers and help clear the fender

It looks pretty serious like that hey hahah, love that angle from the back
Shorter controlarms but with a NCRCA should give you more scrub radius!

I think the issue then is you’d run into the strut itself without bill spacer

Hell yeah!
Got the stickers!!!!!!! thank you
Big scrub jacks more due to caster. Basically pushing the lead wheel into the ground
Helping to translate weight to the rear
Cool as thank you for that
It's Go Time!
The fact this channel isn’t massive leads me to believe that most people are idiots.
Cool vid, wondering how did you get the mold for the lip, did you use certain pre measurements, greetings from El Salvador
Hi, I just made it from expanding foam and fibreglass, I did a few videos on it
@@GOTIME-CO Thank u
I’m still trying to figure out if it’s the increased scrub radius or the increased track width that is making the difference.
lip is looking great, are the vent holes gonna have ducts to somewhere?
Yeppp so they’re in line with the tow points so you can either use them to retain those or run ducts to your brakes
Rear wheel looks flat! If u weren’t aware already ❤️
Yes more GoTime!
Yo do you sell the ‘GO TIME’ decals?
