HyperX QuadCast: amzn.to/3rzqTMH
Want to get great audio in your streams, multiplayer games and content creation? Today we are talking about two of the most popular USB microphones on the market right now, that is the Hyper X Quadcast and the Blue Yeti, both extremely popular choices for gamers and Twitch streamers alike.
Both the HyperX Quadcast and the Blue Yeti have been out for a while now, but they are constantly compared to each other and are still real competitors when it comes to being some of the best USB mics in their price range.
The Quadcast comes in HyperX's trademark black and red colours, with the microphone being illuminated whenever the user is audible. If you want to go a level higher to the Quadcast S you get the bonus of RGB customization, but the base model is fixed in crimson. The regular Quadcast does come with some features that make it a great mic for streaming and content creation straight out of the box, such as its integrated pop filter and tap-to-mute functionality.
Up against it is the Blue Yeti. It's a larger and heavier device than the Quadcast but still comes with the same four audio profiles. It does, however, have better audio monitoring functionality with its adjustable passthrough to allow the user to monitor their audio levels during livestreams or recording sessions.
While these USB microphones are very similar, in the video above we go through the differences that separate them and name our mic pick for gamers and content creators.
Audio and voiceover were recorded with each microphone during the relevant sections, and treated with identical post-production settings to ensure a fair comparison.

Appreciate it
Respect. Thx man!
i love you
one year later, I’m here to thank you too
Don't you think Yeti is little better to capture audio?
The hyperx is such an amazing mic, every time I play a co op game ppl notice the high quality sound of the mic
Too bad both of them are very sensitive and can pick up background noise easily. Especially the HyperX Quadcast. Had to sell that one
@@clockspacefilms3025 I don't see any reviewers ever speaking about this. Is it really that bad? what do you recommend in its place?
do you have any sort of sound card ?
@@clockspacefilms3025 You just gotta use the right setting and the right amount of gain
Quit lying. Hyper x sounds like ur talking through the mic on my razer head set. People only notice the quality when I'm using the blue yeti with virtual XLR plug in and OBS eq with a noise gate.
Quadcast feels much more natural and organic, Blue yeti you can actually hear the compression and pre-EQ applied to it. The average listener might find yeti captures a better range, but Imo it's better to have things RAW and apply compressor / EQ post, because if it's already applied you can't undo it. It's like having a selfie camera that always has smoothening / beauty filters applied, you'd have to basically try to edit out the effect to try to get it to feel natural again.
Ps. This is one of the best reviews out there. This guy went straight into the details. I find that people who make mic reviews like the sound of their voice too much and just end up rambling, trying to make witty jokes, and going off too many tangents. Really appreciate this.
I was about to buy this mic for a particular feature, but then this video taught me that my current mic also has the same feature. Im dumb,

@@re-gaming3913 its a Blue Yeti. Had it forever and it hasnt let me down. Knock on wood
One thing to know about the Yeti: It's not living up to its full potential straight out of the box. It needs a shock mount. It needs a pop filter. It helps a LOT to acoustically treat your room (which is true for every mic)
Neither mic is in this case with the Yeti actually being cheaper.
@@jaronmarles941 nah its more expensive actually
@@hairold5680 No it isn't

Quadcast seems a lot better.
It already has a mic spider and a integrated pop filter.
Warmer sound and it looks better.
4/5 years different
@H2OWATER opinions
@FillaWolf it all depends on edits but in this video you can hear the tiny sound of the blue yeti and it's disgusting. The hyper comes already warm and crisp while the yeti sounds like a headset mic out of the box. It's all plug n play with these usb mics and hyperx takes the win there
@FillaWolf i cant trust anyone that cant spell which correctly lmao jk
@Basic omen87 typing fast doesn't make you spell the wrong "which" is you spell fast you might accidentally type "whch" or "wich" not "witch"
I found myself clicking back and forth between the two to listen to the difference.
The Quadcast definitely sounds better. It's not as...sharp.
The sound quality seems to be a bit richer.
I'm really glad Dave did this video.
I find that the yeti works way better when you’re hanging it upside down instead of straight up, and, you definitely want to get a shock mount for it. Just my two cents
I think you could hang the quadcast upside down if I'm not wrong. Because i remember people using it like that. I'll have to double check.
@jack 1122 yeah I think you just need the right adapter for it
@@mcant17 i honestly fucking hate the blue yeti if any of you are thinking of getting it dont ive been having non stop issues returning it honestly its just been hell

@@inutero3516 not really they sent out another one and it wasnt working too
ive had the same yeti for a few years now. i have zero complaints. hearing other mics side by side really make me happy i chose it. im not an audio pro, so it works really well for me. im the target audience for a quality usb mic, and the blackout yeti is wonderful. the stand is in fact chonk though. ill give you that.
Don’t know how you’ve managed that 😂. I got my yeti a few weeks after Christmas and it broke two weeks ago (the cheap plastic in the charger cable). I’ve had to resort into buying an new mic because of it
@@Oliveralford a cable is replaceable, why would you replace the entire mic for whats clearly a bad cable? gotta uneerstand that usb cables are a wear item when youre plugging them in frequently vs leaving it plugged in and immobilized.
@@BenFilley it was the part in the mic
@@Oliveralford it became clear to me after i wrote that comment that the quality tanked when Logitech bought blue. I have one pre-buyout so thats likely the explanation.

What an excellent presentation of the two microphones. Thank you.

That‘s why I came here! This guy is a godsent
bro legit that is the reason i clicked this video i ended up going with the quad cast because it was 20 dollars cheaper than the blue yeti
Thank you very much for this info. Very informative and gave me new insight on my mic purchase.
The quadcast is an amazing mic! No complaints here! It's beautiful, durable, and amazing sound. Good review sir👍💯👏
I mean it is an amazing mic but at its price 140$ it isn't worth it at all you could get your self an xlr mic that would sound way better for that price point

Thanks this was perfect for what I needed. I just used your link to kick some support your way. Well done on the video!
great video, Dave J
Nice one! Was thinking the blue yeti would be better for asmr, but now I might be leaning towards the quadcasr
I love comparing a 12 year old and a year old microphone against each other
But they are in the same price range. The yeti is a 12 year old mic (give or take a few revisions) but isn't priced as such. A lot of new content creators/streamer go for the Yeti because of its reputation when in fact its by far not the best mic out there for the price
@@TheBatNaz Even still technology has changed a lot the past 12 years and it gives the blue yeti a clear disadvantage
@@Oldmangamess I agree, it has changed a lot but the Yeti mic isn't priced as such. Just got my daughter full USB microphone kit (mic, boom arm, shock mount, pop filter) all for under £80 that out performs the my old Yeti. The point is that the comparison is between 2 popular mics at the similar price point. The review clearly highlights that the established Yeti mic is not worthwhile value to performance purchase
Don’t get butt hurt honey
Why buy a 12 year old mic when you can get a modern one that's just as good for the same price
I really still dont know what to choose. Cause the Blue yeti looks so clean on your setup and i think its a more warmer sound but the hyper x quadcast is amazing too. If someone could help i would apreciate it!
i just chose the blue yeti :)
I bought the Blue Yeti (white) too, I agree that it really nice and clear for the set up, but in my opinion, if can you should test it first because the blue voice in G-hub (i dont really remember that app name) makes my voice like I’m talking under water in some options xD but now I’m use the Nvidia Soundboard (free) and It better. Hope you find a good mic for you :3
@@yenphitruong8689 nvidia is great for adjusting your mic volume. simple and easy to use, i recommend it as well
The Yeti looks better in my opinion compared to the Hyper X one... I like the minimalistic look instead of the red gamery look...
ya the full rgb one is so much better cause u can just pick the look but its out of stock everywhere
You can get the quad cast s for 10dollars more that can completely control rgb
I have the blue yeti. It works just fine for my and I’m fond of it, it is a great mic
I use the Yeti Nano which mediates the size problem quite a bit without compromising on sound quality
I also tend to have it mounted sideways on an arm, as in like, the holes where the mic screws into the default desk mount are pointing up and down and I find this helps even further with the size problem. It might look weird at first but you kind of just get used to it once you use it a bit
i have the same mic. I want to start a podcast using the mic with multiple people. Any tips and best settings to use?
Thanks for the sound demo. Blue yeti sounds significantly better. Quite a big difference for my ear.
Sometimes.
Thanks for this vid! Friend wanted to start streaming and I wasn't sure which of these to get him. Choice is obvious, hyperx seems insanely good!
I like the quadcast as it has more bass than the yeti, its less sharp and doesnt hurt in the ear.
Blue yeti sounds better for me. I got one last yeah and I’m very happy with it
got the quadcast s and a $20 boom . with that combo i love it
Great video!! Helped sooo much in the decision making!
Just bought the hyperx mic, thanks for your help!
Yeti looks like a studio rap booth mic. Which I like and it sounds good get the extra stuff for it. Won’t disappoint 👏🏿
I’m a fan of both, however I own the Yeti. I do believe you can get little caps to put in the holes where the stand was, I’d have to look again though.
Yes you can
Got the blue yeti first right, decided it wasn't for me then went with the quadcast and have been happy ever since.
i tried both this weekend. kept the yeti. returned the hyper x. for me, i found my voice was richer, clearer, cleaner on the yeti. =)

What cheapboom arm options are there for the HyperX? And any video on how to properly set it up?
Yeti all the way I prefer to utilize the volume knob for mic monitoring.
No.
Have you tested the Sound of the keystrokes with RTX voice on?
I just bought the hyperX because it is on sale for under 100, can't wait to try it!
Great reviews, very well done
The yeti definitely has more body to the sound and higher quality, the quadcast is more soul less (not to the point of having a very high difference in quality tho) but to compensate it has a shockmount and a pop filter already integrated so you are gonna waste less money to make it functional compared to the yeti that you need a arm and a pop filter.
Which one do you have?
I agree, I might have to just stick to the blue yeti x when I upgrade from my blue yeti. I really do enjoy the mute button on the quadcast because it seems to work better and not break as often. I'm actually upgrading my blue yeti because the mic button no longer works. It doesn't mute me when I push the button. (It blinks its lights indicating it should be muted, but it's not.)
@@yourfavoriteMex Do you have both the Quadcast and the Yeti?
@@ghost-user559 I have the yeti and I gifted my nephew the quadcast. I really do think the yeti has better out the box audio, but the quadcast does have nifty features. Funny you replied so quick, I changed my mind about the blue yeti x, I'm gonna just by the quadcast for a few reasons. I do VC with friends a lot and i do use the mute button frequently so quadcast wins. Quadcast I do believe picks up less noise in general compared to the yeti. So while my voice won't sound as bassy or punchy, it'll do good not picking up background noise in my house. I can probably finetune the voice settings of the yeti with voicemeter banana or a different sound program on my PC to be perfect for me. Plus it's like $96 at my local bestbuy and on amazon so.
@@yourfavoriteMex Check out the Fifine K658 if you are trying to cut back on background sounds and you want a really nice mute button. Just a slight touch and it’s instant with no feedback.
It’s a dynamic so it’s much better on background noise than a condenser like the Yeti or Quadcast. But Quadcast would probably be the most “natural” sound. The Fifine sounds a little bit more “podcast” or “radio”, but it’s very good for the price if background noise is an issue.

No.
I Wanted A Good Mic in the 15k price range and This Video Is Worth Watching . I really enjoyed this video !!!
What time I was actually looking for a new mic the hyper X quad cast S maybe the one I’m getting
You cannot talk about Hyper X without bringing up the fact that the Hyper X just stops working after about a month of using it. The audio quality just goes to tr s, and I've had at least 5 of them in the past 6 months. My last mic before Hyper X, I used for over 5 years.
Blue yeti will be a lot better if you aren't on a windows computer, but if you are I suggest that. But if your on MacOS like me and on PS5 I suggest the blue yeti x
I got the yeti nano and I am not very pleased. It picks up background noise like crazy but not my voice, and when I bring it close the noise levels vary wildly. I am not a good speaker but this is not very good quality at all as far as I am concerned. It seems you need to shout from close range to get good volume without tons of bg noise. I wish I had the quadcaster instead but I did not want to buy online and this was the best in store option I could find.
I like the sound from Yeti slightly more, but I think there's noticeably higher % of manufacturing defects / durability problems on them. Seems that QuadCast is better in that front.
No.

Great Video. Ty.
I've seen a few people with this issue im not sure its common but with the blue yeti, after awhile if you just jolt it a little bit it seems to cut the headphones off. (again im not sure if its common but its a problem a lot of people and me have).
do you have a video of you painting those death guards?
the Hyper X Quadcast was 600 dollars for me
"your stream can see your mic is muted" well no shit im pretty sure they could tell by the fact they cant hear you talking
The only thing you can tell is that you can't hear them, you don't know if the mic is muted, or it's a connection problem, a glitch, could be anything.
The audio quality through headphones from the HyperX seemed better than the Yeti. Is it just me or has that been everyone’s experience…?
hey what are your thoughts on the yeticaster studio professional bundle ?
Now blue yeti can win this battle of mics cause it have "BLUE VOICE" on Logitech G Hub, making this sound a really profesional now the noise room is not a problem for blue yeti!
