One interesting, tiny little ray of sunshine in this mess is that tRump's taxes will be reviewed by people who haven't been paid in weeks.

But IF he didn't cheat and claim a lot of phony deductions, then there should be "no change", meaning they are fine and he doesn't owe anything more to the IRS. So why keep it hidden if they are correct ? Being audited doesn't mean shit. It's a phony excuse - or "fake news" as he says!

The problem is that the union movement in the US has been destroyed over the past 30 years. It is very hard to go on strike if it is just you...it takes collective action to have any effect and that requires organized movements of people like unions. Labor law in the US is very pro-corporations and business owners. Same thing happened in the UK under the Thatcher governments of the 80s.....she crushed the union movement to the point where today it is largely impotent.

Excepted federal workers have to go to work and don't get paid, if they don't they are declared AWOL. The federal contractor will not get the back pay that those furloughed federal workers will get. They will have to quit their jobs and get another job. I'm a federal contractor, this sucks.
Actually, I think it's happening gradually and it may not really matter anymore. LaGuardia declared a ground stop this morning. And I'm sure it's going to get worse.

He’s a very smart documentarian. In Fahrenheit 9/11 to show the trade towers falling and using a black screen was brilliant because we were desensitized after seeing them fall over and over on the news. He made us only listen. I remember looking around the theater and people were crying and really looking at the screen.
He also looks a lot like my late mother who was intelligent, overweight but loved life and tried to create a better world. (I was adopted)
If the man-child's national emergency is that he's not getting his way, then I say good. Let him do it. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and we'll be able to settle the gun control issue when a Democratic president is elected, by declaring gun violence a national emergency and putting in new policies. We could tackle climate change the same way. A lack of health insurance is also national emergency.

in his documentaries. Take Bowling For Columbine, for example. I'm a vocal opponent of the NRA, but the way he treated Charlton Heston in that, was fucking disgusting.
Charlton may have been misguided politically speaking, but he wasn't the face of evil that Michael tried to paint him as.
Not to mention that he was very old at the time as well, so the whole thing felt like the audience was supposed to cheer on a bully in an elderly people's home.

Mycel calling them simple sounds like your way of trying to say you’re smarter than him and his viewers and that’s subjective. Documentaries are suppose to be understandable. There job is to lay out information and he chooses topics with a great deal of information so it has to be relayed in a relatable manner. It’s not abstract art, it’s complicated material made in to a narrative form. Americans are simple on mass but go out and meet them one on one and you’ll find mostly bright & decent people.

For heaven's sake, it will take many months, even years to complete a wall of that magnitude. What's happening in the meantime is not even being discussed - the wall is a pitiful attempt as a superficial effort to comfort this one man who treats himself like a king, not an elected official.

Just watched Fahrenheit 11/9 last night, outstanding work by Michael Moore explaining so much about our political system and truths that many need to have explained in very simple terms. Everyone in the country needs to watch with an open mind... what an incredibly intelligent, compassionate truthseeker and national treasure that man is.

Teachers work every single summer without pay getting their classroom/curriculum ready for about 2 weeks. Then we work about 3-6.5 hours past when the kids leave. Where's the outcry for us? And if you think that that's not expected, then you need to think again. That's why I love seeing all of these teacher strikes. I don't think parents or administrators truly realize the time that we put in. It completely over takes your life, and your life is teaching. So yes, Michael Moore, teachers do very much go to work without pay and they do this every year of their life.
And a lot of them have to pay for school supplies out of their own scanty finances. There's no question that teachers are underpaid and grossly under-appreciated. This society is completely topsy-turvey in who it rewards and who it blames/punishes.
When will the day come when schools have everything they need and the army has to have a bake sale?
And teachers never take a break unless they find someone to cover their classrooms and have to find someone just so they can go to the bathroom 🚽🍸🍸💕💕💕
