this is a much better approach to a tutorial where you explain the technique and the logic rather than a "monkey see monkey do" kind of thing where you can only follow along if using the same software while copying the keystrokes without understanding why 👍
Honestly ur first step of just making it simply move up and down with the jaw is VERY reminiscent of the blocking stage in animation So it's pretty fundamentally sound, if u ask me. A great tip.
this is awesome! Super useful! Animating faces is not my expertise but all of his bigger movements like the head and eyebrows were slightly too perfect. If you can add some follow through and subtle noise to everything it really goes a long way. His head turn is especially robotic when he says "we will return" some follow through there would be perfect with just a bit of noise. But this is a great workflow and I love the rig. Animating every M sound a F sound is super smart and I'll definitely do that in future!!
@@MikeSmith3D i also recommend trying motion capture for the face. None of my characters really have expressive faces (darth vader, spiderman, the lizard) faces so i don't have much experience but I did a test of it a couple years ago and i was amazed at how quickly i got really good results. ua-cam.com/video/uNK8S19OSmA/v-deo.htmlsi=rajULl2HqyxDdjhA this was the tutorial i followed but you can probably do something similar in whatever software you use. Or learn it in Blender either
@@conorsvfx I dont know why youtube blocked your comment, but I just saw it now. I'm switching over the reallusion suite for my next character to see how that workflow works for me. Because I'd really like to use mocap for faces if the results are good enough. Unfortunately this guy was too far along the pipeline to be switched over to reallusion. But my next character definitely will have mocap. Thanks again for the comment!
This is a tutorial about my process for animating faces which could work in any 3D program. I’m using maya in the video but there’s nothing maya or blender specific. Which tool are you trying to load?
@@MikeSmith3D hey thank you for taking the time answering me, I am trying to add facekit as an addon to Blender but, even if the program says "installed correctly in the folder bla bla" it doesn't appear at all as a tool in the side window.
@@PecoraSpecoh I see! No I just downloaded the raw OBJ files from GitHub and set it up manually in Maya. I didn’t use blender for that. Sorry for the confusion! I’m currently learning the process in blender so I might be able to make a video in the future for that.
This is the type of tutorial that I like! The knowledge is more universal
Thanks for the feedback!

Ah nice that’s good to hear XD I’m self taught but barely even that
Great tutorial! Thanks a lot! Subbed! And thank you YT algorithm.
Ah nice, thank you!
That's incredible, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks! that means a lot

Sure thing! thanks for watching

I agree 100%! I'm a modeler trying to get better at animation myself. So this is great advice

Awesome job mate!
Hey thanks!
I love it! I recently tried making Lip sync for my latest animation and i wish i knew all that >.
Thanks! Your anime video is really cool
@@MikeSmith3D Thank you!
Do you know how can I use this in my TikTok live ( like he’s gonna be my appearance and copy my actions whatever I’m doing and saying )
Ah like a VTuber. There are programs for that but I don’t know how to do it in maya. Sorry!
does it work for blender 4.0 too? It doesn't appear in the tool settings even after I installed it.

@@MikeSmith3D oh no! But I mean in the previous video you used the github FaceKit tool, so that was my quesiton
