Plus, they did a pretty good job with the sound IMO. Sounds pretty neat and it helps that it melds with that natural low end sound of the V8 in the back
In my opinion there’s no point to a hybrid if you run out of gas you typically get 20 miles on high end hybrids plus most ppl aren’t utilizing that extra power it really adds nothing for the average consumer
@@dashawnking5555 For some people they'd just be happy to get better range overall. Freely switching between gas and electricity makes road trips between gas stops much longer. I have a C7 Z06 but when I talked to my dealer about upgrading to a C8 Z06 he basically laughed. They have 250 people on the waiting list and they were getting in about 1 Z06 per month (you do the math). The E-Ray waiting list was at 40 - so that's the list I'm on. Still probably a couple years before I see one. If by that time used C8 Z06s are reasonable, I can always go that route but that engine without a warranty scares me.
i think its sexy. Its less angular and more flowy. I like the side profile how it swoops down to the front fender which then swoops up. Also the car looks lower.
I'm wondering if you can add a supercharger to this car. I believe the procharger kits for the Corvette tend to add about 170hp minimum. With the 495 stock + the 170hp from the procharger kit + the 155 hp from the electric motor you would have a combined output of 820hp. Almost like a budget hybrid supercar
I think it would be hard to pull of much mods, because of how closely the engine and electric motor are tuned to work together. Unless GM programmed it it be really widely dynamic, things could out of sync pretty quickly.
@@DasGreatBrit It's the same gas engine as in the stingray, so as long as they're still using the global b ecu tuning shouldn't be hard. Would be easier to manage the torque blending with a supercharger rather than a turbocharger kit though. As long as the torque output is predictable by the ecu, shouldn't be an issue.
ERay with twin turbos will be the best C8 version ever. Wide body, the great 6.2 “i dont care for the flat plane crank” with added turbos and awd. Definitely the best.
LOL @ the clippped ending. Brilliant stuff guys. And btw, I prefer the E Ray's body-colored body parts. The black plastic splashed all over the other C8 models looks cheap, IMHO.

Agreed 100%
I think GM did fine with the Eray. Looks good, still has American V8 noise, and added performance. I wouldn't make it my only performance car in my garage, but it would be a welcome addition.
I love the mixture of sound between the LT2 and the electric motor. Old school muscle with some futuristic flair
Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it.
Just like Thomas, I am not the buyer for this car (although my pants are clean). I do like it though. In fact, the more I look at it, the more I like it.
i love it. i have had Porsches Audi, RS seven and many mercedes. I personally think this car will be more fun to drive than the ZO6. the zero to 60 never gets old!
Hope you all get to review the Zora edition when it comes out!
Thanks for this short but sweet assessment guys. Still waiting on my Z06, but enjoying the C8 while I wait. Great NSX analogy.
What’s the big deal being a hybrid? All hyper cars are now? I would take this over the z06 because I would be driving this on the road 💯 of the time and would smoke any z06 and I would smoke any car on the road.
Seen and driven them all and the E Ray was my favorite.
I'm guessing the missing "thunk" on upshifts is because the electric motors are doing torque-fill.
Oh my God, thank you for the fancy black bars and the sounds from the outside! Perfecto! 🎉❤
By "Baby Ferrari" James actually meant 'Poor man's Ferrari'.
which is now as much as what Ferraris used to cost not too long ago.
A used 458?
I'd watch the entire video just for the cliff-drop ending alone. Brilliant!! :D
I would want this over any C8 for sure. I love the tech.
Best looking primer clear coated car I have ever seen.
on streets this is faster than Z06
You guys are awesome. Great channel. Insightful and entertaining.
Cleanest looking C8 so far, and the interior stitching lines up!
Love the banter. And of course your auto journalism.
One of these days I want a manufacturer to list their goal customer base to be broke hooligan.
They always go PR safe when creating those write ups.
Lol 😂😂😂😂Stop it!😂😂😂
It not only has 160 more HPs, but it is also an electric motor that gives you instant torque.
The Corvette E Ray sound sick actually
I’m not really a corvette guy but that’s a beautiful car. The exterior color and the interior combination is beautiful
Didn't even let Thomas finished his last word🤣🤣🤣🤣
You guys are awesome! Love the end. Keep it up!
Young, affluent people are not buying Corvettes. They're buying Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, etc. The gulf between rich and poor is so huge that any buyer who can afford $130k can afford $350k.
Anyone that can afford 130k can afford almost 3 times that amount? Where are you getting that logic? lol
James is a vortex of creativity in the funniest ways. Still love you Thomas
