‘I Shall Return’ - General Douglas MacArthur’s message from Terowie, South Australia

On 20th March 1942, US General Douglas MacArthur gave his first press interview after being mobilised from Bataan, in the Philippines to Australia during conflict with the Japanese military.
The location of this interview was at Terowie train station.
In his interview he said the famous words, “I shall return”, referring to The Philippines and promising assistance with defeat of the occupying Japanese army
