In 1965 and again in 1966 I crossed from Birdsville through Oodnadatta and through to Adelaide. I was 19 years old and driving a LWB Landrover. That was exciting. No GPS, no Satnav, no mobiles, no aircon and no phones. 8 months working in the Simpson and crossing that desert was a real privilege for an 19 year old Pommy. It was true adventure in those days. Now I fear, that though still challenging it is much to sterile. None the less good to see the video and just wish I had that facility back all those years ago.
Imagine doing it thousands of years ago with no car or even manufactured shoes and clothes. Guess folks back then probably thought the same of you and us.
Now that is a proper Australian G-wagen trip… 461 pros and the 463 they had with them was with proper 16” wheels and tires designed for off road use… and it looks like the suspension was addressed as well…. Doesn’t need anything else to be honest… it would be a dream to be on that trip
Did you have any mechanical troubles on the trip? I remember when MB put this same trip on a few years ago they had several shock blowouts. Also I will echo what the others have said - Consider longer form videos.
