    Familiarize yourself with Absurdism. You are a perfect example of the human desire to find meaning in life, and the impossibility to find any.

    I do believe, you could articulate the RHex to stand and make it walk? If not at the very least a short sprint into a jump.

    Cool a robot that can shelve itself away. Once it belly flops can it pull itself all the way up and keep going?

  • @1chemoman
    @1chemoman 10 років тому

    I can. I did. If we had use for landing in a leafy tree, we would develop something to that effect. Also, VTOL vehicles. Nearly as well? Well really, that's why we adapt the evironment to our needs. A horse can travel better at rough terrain, but pit it against a car in a road, well, you can imagine. Eveything has context. I do not say we have outdone all of nature, but we sure hell of a lot more advanced that you give credit for. Human race is amazing and you can't deny it.

    Our machines have(and some already exceed) the potential to walk, jump swin and fly better than any bird or even highly specialized lifeforms. We are being able to replicate the motion aspect of life in the short lifespan our species has lived here, whereas animals evolve during millions of years.

    He's got the best advice? You ever read the book you speak of?
    Atonement for an unsolved murder in deuteronomy states that if you find the corpse of a murder victim, just take a heifer to a fertile river and break its neck with your towns elders. Then wash your hands over it and deny it.

    ...And to continue my last reply, I'm sorry but if we potentially can do something, we are very likely to do it. We had the potential to develop an assload of things and well.. we did. Sure we might not develop a car that feeds on the blood of little children, but I'm pretty damn sure we will make better machines to fullfill all of those tasks you name and many more.

    Actually you are not demonstrating that "better" is subjective, you are demonstrating that it depends on what criteria we use.
    Anyway you are being argumentative for argument's sake, and missing the point of this conversation, which was whether humans have outdone evolution. Our computers are not yet fast enough or small enough, and our material sciences are not yet advanced enough, to match nature for doing what it is intended to do.

  • @SqeakyKTopp
    @SqeakyKTopp 10 років тому

    "Better" is entirely subjective. If you are looking for profit margins a 747 is hard to beat. If you are looking for air superiority an F22 is hard to beat. If you are look for minimal fuel consumption a solar ultralight is hard to beat. If you are looking for automous and self reproducing and shitting on freshly washed cars a pigeon is hard to beat. If you are looking for...

    You absolutely cannot say that we can fly better than birds. That's absurd. We can fly FASTER, sure, and it takes us 30 minutes and a mile-long runway to land. Compare that to a bird that can land on a branch in the middle of a leafy tree.
    No vehicle we have can travel nearly as well as a horse or a rat or a cockroach or fly. We have the potential to, obviously, but you can't say we're there now.

    Not to sound disingenuous but tetragrammaton or jahweh and the likes can cast off the cliff of cataclysmic catastrophe for all I don't care. This assertion is not fallacious or do you disagree? Dont be pedantic my friend, transcend these doctrines, divide your ego, add equanimity, subtract the everlong callous piety and these detrimental conceivements. All sprouting from that one source, the germ of evil. D'evil.
