Nice breakdown of his mechanics. A question: a knock against Brecht has been his command. Is there anything you detect in his delivery that can be tweaked to improve his command?

He does not use his lower body and has erratic control. He has similar talent to Paul Skenes, so some teams think they can refine Brecht to become a diminant stsrter or closer. He will get drafted in the first round in July but i am concerned that with how much effort he putches with, thst will lead to injuries. I would develop him slowly and hammer on his mechanics. He has great talent and would be further ahead if he was at an ACC or SEC school, instead of Iowa. He did improve this season in terms of cutting his walks and increasing his strikeout to walk ratio

Not once was the true reason why anybody throws with elite speed was given.
The reason for elite velocity in overhead throwers is the same reason for any pop performance for ballistic athletic actions.
The difference in percentage of type 1 slow twitch muscle fiber vs fast twitch 2 a & b. It's purely genetic.
