That's actually Dennis Quaid. He did a fantastic job portraying Jerry Lee Lewis. This film is called Great Balls of Fire and I've watched it more times than I can count. It's fantastic. I will send you links, below. 😊 Dennis Quaid wasn't singing in this film, but he was playing piano. Dennis Quaid is already a musician, but he worked alongside Jerry Lee Lewis, to get his skill perfect. He spent 2 years learning to play exactly like Jerry Lee Lewis, and the last 6 months leading up to filming, he spent 12 hours a day, practicing his skills. Yes, he really did set his piano on fire. It was 1957, and he was doing the Alan Freed Package Tour. He had a bottle of Coca-Cola, mixed with gasoline and matches prepared. He was actually singing Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, and as he was finishing that song, He poured the liquid in the piano and threw a match in it. The piano caught fire, but Jerry continued to play it until it burned down. I have seen footage of him talking about it. 😂 Here is a link to Jerry Lee Lewis playing the piano. ua-cam.com/video/gjZgUVv95no/v-deo.htmlsi=bjtVF_J6YSFnXet_ A clip to older footage of Jerry Lee Lewis performing Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On. ua-cam.com/video/Fw7SBF-35Es/v-deo.htmlsi=rp6oscav4bRz5Sbx And finally, an awesome clip of Jerry Lee Lewis and Dennis Quaid playing piano together, performing Great Balls of Fire. ua-cam.com/video/pAdS2txihCk/v-deo.htmlsi=G-k54ZsGVaCn59Ar
That was beyond cool thank you for that info I thought that he might have done something like that because the way that he was moving and working in the movie portraying Jerry Lee I thought it was way too smooth he must have learned how to play or something Jerry Lee Lewis himself was really amazing man I've never seen anybody do the crazy shit he did while playing the piano
That girl he was looking at while playing.. was his first cousin.. which he married her.. when she was only 13 lol.. Crazy but TRUE! lol .. Obviously those were actors.. but the Real Jerry Lee Lewis did in fact marry his cousin! lol
Myra Gale Brown was his first cousin, once removed, which makes her his second cousin. She was the daughter of his first cousin, and base player, J.W. Brown.
In fact, there is a legend that during the filming of the movie, Jerry Lee showed up with a bottle of Bourbon and a gun, saying that the songs WERE PLAYED BY HIM AND NOBODY ELSE... and they reached an agreement that Jerry himself made the recordings, and that in the video clip of the main song, Jerry sang, and the piano was played by both the actor Denis Quaid and Lewis himself.
This is a re-enactment of the encounter between Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry but actual footage shows this to be right on. And, yes, he was using his foot to play those keys but, if you listen, it's the appropriate keys.... Check out videos of 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On' and 'Real Wild Child'. One of the fathers of Performance Rock and Roll.
this clip is from 'great balls of fire', with dennis quaid starring as jerry lee lewis. lewis took a shine to quaid and taught him a lot about the way he played piano. the incident where he set the piano on fire to top chuck berry really happened.
Jerry lee lewis did the soundtrack for the movie, or I should say he played all the songs of his that is in the movie. Not Jerry lee performing here, but it is Jerry Lee that recorded the song itself. BUT YOU GOT TO SEE JERRY LEE LEWIS LIVE!!!!
**Luvit** yea man the dude was indeed freakin **Wild** whether or not he actually set his piano on **Fire** is contested to this day it appears tho sometimes he says he DID other times he says he never did either way tho if ya find a clip of him when in his younger years ya can see he IS indeed **Wild** even in clips of his older years **The Killer** **RockON!!!**
That’s from the movie Great Balls Of Fire, and there was 3 times that he did actually light it fire. Charlotte North Carolina, Ohio, and I think the 3rd was California. Also he did do the foot on the keys when playing the piano. Sadly we lost him a few years ago
This is Dennis Quaid playing him in a movie but Jerry Lee Lewis was a musical prodigy from childhood along with his cousins Micky Gilley and Jimmy Swaggert. Mickey went more the country music route and Swaggert is a preacher and gospel music route. All three played the piano like they were/are born to it but Lewis was every bit as wild as he’s portrayed in this movie. He’d kick his seat over while playing and did occasionally set the piano on fire and kept playing it. He married his second cousin when she was 14 and he was well into his 20’s and that scandal hurt him a lot but he didn’t mind. He always did exactly what he wanted to do no matter how outrageous or scandalous and didn’t let the fallout faze him a bit. This movie this clip is from is pretty good and does a good job of showing Lewis as he was.
If you want to see something totally outrageous look at The Who My Generation Live on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1968. Moon lets off a "Cherry Bomb" stuck in his Bass Drum. It's an explosive show. No If's. No Buts.
Jerry Lee was always competing, against Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and others, he wanted to be the best !! Find the real Jerry Lee playing Live, he really was the wild one, his piano playing was amazing. Many parents did not want their teens watching these rockers, they thought they’d be corrupted 🤣💜☮️
Little Richard used to play with his foot on the piano too!🧡 What's going on is that it's a movie. He's showing up Chuck Berry. He's a cocky upstart who believes he should close the show (get top billing) by virtue of having the number one record. But this is a tour and Chuck Berry was top dog at the beginning, so it's in his contract to close. Jerry Lee sets the piano on fire to ruin Chuck's set. did he do this in real life? I don't know. It's a dramatic device here, but it's certainly something he was capable of. The man was a true showman.
This isn't even Jerry lee lewis, you gotta actually react to the artist brother, this doesn't him justice. The movie is very cheesy and doesn't represent jerry lee that well at all.

That's not Jerry Lee Lewis. This is Dennis Quaid portraying him in the film Great Balls Of Fire. Try to find one of him. There's plenty out there.
The video is not him, but the music is. Jerry Lee rerecorded the songs for the film.
Brown.
He was just that kind of CRAZY!!
And... he forgot to get divorced from his first wife!
Second cousin marriages are legal in most, if not all states, so he probably wasn't the first or the last.
She was his 2nd cousin twice removed.
That's what you call Rock N Roll.
The Killer Jerry Lee! This is a clip from the sountrack of "Great Balls of fire", the biopic of Jerry Lee Lewis, played by Jerry Lee and Denis Quaid.

This is not him, it is from the movie about his life.

Good movie about Jerry Lee Lewis played brilliantly by Dennis Quaid.

This is from a movie, but it does show an actual thing that happened.
The original Bad Boy of rock n' roll
this is how rock music used to be.. the goo dold days,
Jimi Hendrix was definitely inspired by Jerry Lee Lewis when he set his guitar on fire
Might I recommend Jann Arden & her song Insensitive? ❤
They knew how to perform back in the day and today it’s more about electronics and lights and not so much energy from the artist.
You are not watching Jerry Lee Lewis. You are watching an American actor portraying him. The real Jerry Lee was way wilder!
You should look up some actual footage of Jerry Lee. These are clips from a movie, not the real deal.
This isn't even Jerry lee lewis, you gotta actually react to the artist brother, this doesn't him justice. The movie is very cheesy and doesn't represent jerry lee that well at all.
can hardly see the video
THIS IS NOT JERRY LEE LEWIS ITS CLICK BAIT 1 DENNIS QUAID COULD NOT HOLD JERRY LEE'S PIANO BENCH 11
