The big difference between Pelé and the other great players is that he was complete. It didn't matter if the ball landed on the right or left foot, the dribbles, passes and conclusions were always precise.
Head goals, free kicks, penalties, long distance, nothing was difficult for him. Not to mention the heavy ball, the fields with holes, the inadequate game equipment and the complacency of the referees with the violence of the opponents.

The thing is, before Pelé, the "number 10" was just a number. Brazilian football federation just got the shirts wrong, and he ended up with the number 10 by mistake for the World Cup of 58, which he played being only 17y, and became World Champion for the first time for Brazil. If you check, by 58 World Cup, Brazilians keeper had the 13 number on his shirt because of that mistake. After Pelé's performance, the number 10 remained with him til the end, and the myth of the number 10 being the best player was created. It all started with him. He changed football forever!

@@halfayardtv2752 red cards actually didn't exist then,they were introduced in the 1970s because of Pele really cause he was fouled and injured at the start of the 66 world cup and couldnt play after 1 game it's why many think England wouldn't have won had he not been injured causing Brazil to lose. so FIFA implemented the red card and yellow card rules to protect attackers(mainly their biggest star and attraction Pele) and prevent unnecessary injuries.

He was only 5'8 and he could out jump guys standing 6'4 and he was lethal with his headers. You see here the skills and magic he possessed. Hes the only player who won 3 World Cups. All the goals and moves you see Messi and Cristiano do, Pelé had already made them 50 years back when there was no social media, nutrition and training technology was nothing compared to what we have today. This is unbeleivable. You cannot compare Messi to Pelé, because Messi is an incomplete player. His right foot is weak and he can't head the ball well. Moreover, it is only recently Messi has shown some leadership qualities, but it has taken him years to grow to that point. Pelé was complete, an in order for any player to be compared to Pelé he has to be complete as well, but a complete player as complete as Pelé has never existed, altough R9 and Mbappé have shown some similar traits.

Moreover, in Pelé's time the pitches were horrible, while nowadays they are almost playing on billiard cloth. Another point is the ball, the FIFA has made the ball much lighter, so it would be easier to score goals. Did you know that Pelé could shoot harder with the heavier ball from back in the days than Messi can with the current lightweight ball?
