Dennis Quaid did a wonderful job on this movie. (He is more handsome than actual Jerry Lee Lewis). He studied hard all the performances of Lewis to get the expressions and moves right. Great reaction.
He also had the Killer himself there on set during the making of this movie making sure he got it right... If he didn't, Jerry would in an somewhat raised voice say, Denis' words, "yer doin' it wrong son yer doin' it wrong".. lol.. They must have had a blast making this movie.... Of course, this version of the event did actually happen.. He actually did aquire a can of lighter fluid and set the piano on fire.. There is no known video footage of it, so the movie version is as close as we're gonna get... Jerry Lee does talk about it years later in an interview which can be found on youtube and worth finding and watching...
Definitely a great movie to react to. It's based on a book written by Myra, his wife (now ex). JLL did set a piano on fire, and Chuck Berry didn't want to go afterwards.
Jerry Lee changed music and TV forever, on the Steve Allen show. His first appearance, he kicks the piano chair out! Steve Allen standing in the wings throws it back across the stage! Steve Allen said, I realized right then, we just changed music and TV, forever!
This is Dennis Quaid lip syncing to an older Jerry Lee Lewis. Quaid wanted to do the singing, but Jerry was against it. Jerry re-recorded it for the movie. Please react to the early 1950’s live performance 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so very much for not forgetting to say it correctly. Jerry "LEE" Lewis. Better known as The "KILLER". And not that Stupid Clown Jerry Lewis. Jerry Lee Lewis had a whole lotta class and could play the piano about as good as Little Richard who in my opinion was the Real True KING of Rock n' Roll and not that Puts Elvis Presley who not only couldn' dance half as good as Jackie Wilson or Prince. All he knew how to do was the shuffle, gyrate his body a little, was no more than a average guitar player with great timing, looks and dress good but whose singing was not even half as good as Tom Jones or for that matter Wilson Pickett. But anyway, Jerry Lee Lewis not only could play rock n' roll fabulous on the piano but jazz, blues, country, R&B or whatever type of music that you would want to hear including believe it or not, Gospel. And not only that but his singing was very, very good. Thank you so much Little Lady for playing some music that was gull of spiirit, full of spunk. It was truly wonderful. Have a blessed day. Adios.

Watch a 22 year old Killer live. Big difference. There’s a clip from the Dick Clark Show (precursor to American Bandstand) from 1958 where Jerry Lee and his band are live and they use a firework or flash charge in the song. One of the earliest uses of pyrotechnics in a live rock n roll concert!
There’s a reason why they call him “The Last Man Standing”...He also stopped at a gas station one day and found the owner of the gas station was selling bootleg copies of his music, he picked up the whole display, brought it outside and doused it with gasoline, lit it on fire and left 😂
Dennis Quaid does a really good job acting as Jerry Lee Lewis in this movie, but it would be good to see Jerry Lee Lewis himself, performing this song live, because he puts on a really good show.
